" To me, the worth of a company is often determined after the sale. Price is one thing, but often prices are within a few bucks of each other.
In my case, I ordered one 512MB stick of PC3200 400MHZ DDR RAM in December 2002. I received the memory in short order and installed it. Worked fine! Except, using SIS-Soft Sandra, I found it to be PC2700 memory instead of PC3200. At this point I can't say if this is a "bait and Switch" deal but it sure smells like it. I have contacted OC Systems and they want to replace the memory. Of course they want me to pay for all the shipping and will not send the memory until I send them the PC2700 which takes my system down and why should I pay for their flagrant and possibly fraudulent error.
We are currently exchanging emails on how to resolve this issue. However, if you've ordered memory from them, I'd check and see what you received! It may possibly be something less that you ordered.
Here's an update: OCsytem acknowledges that they sent the wrong memory. I believe they do it on purpose. Hey, if they're not caught, they put the bucks in their pocket. At any rate, they want to charge my credit card for the new memory and want me to pay shipping for their error. They would then credit my card when they recieve the PC2700 from me.
I'd just watch what you receive from these guys and I won't be taking any chances with them again. to may other good companies out there. Oh, by the way, I'm having a ball filing complaint after complaint with the National Fraud Center and other agencies. Yeah, I know nothing will happen but what the heck."
"I ordered a case with extra fans. Took a while to get here but I blame myself for ordering on dec 23 and ups ground. The order shiped within 3 days. When it arrived it had a small crack in the see thru door and missing 1 set of drive rails. Contacted OCSystem by email and got an RMA the same day for the door. They misunderstood my e-mail about the drive rails so I will see how they are about that. But overall they have been nice and cooperative with my order. I would order again from them."
"I ordered from these jokers on Dec 31st. It's Jan 6th and still no shipping information. Emailed them 3 times and only got a "when your oder is processed it will be shipped" response from them.
Jeez! How long does it take to proecess an order?
I wish I had read resellerratings first. I promptly canceled my order and reordered from Frozencpu.com. I only hope my credit card is credited. If not, I'm going to use my power as a news reporter for www.techwarelabs.com to put the word out about OCsystem. "
"Got a nice case at a nice price, and some other things, I'm happy!

"I had ordered a motherboard on Christmas day and, one week later, it hadn't shipped. I called customer service and a lady gave some hogwash, "Once our technicians inspect and package the order, it will be shipped. This may happen this week or next week." She was hardly surprised when I canceled my order, which goes to show that they're conscious of their horrid service. I better get my damn credit refund. Avoid them like the plague."
"Well, I ordered a Radeon 9700 from them before reading this forum. But I have taken all of your advice and cancelled the order. I talked to my credit card company before cancelling and they told me to cancel with OC system first, but I am going to call them back a make darn sure they posted it, strangly though.. when I called OC, they answered right on the first ring and the lady said no prob and sent a confirmation email (almost seemed to fast, just like they're telling me what I want to hear, but charging me anyways) But after reading your comments and hearing what my roomate (fellow computer builder)had to say about them. I don't think this will be the end of it. I'll keep you guys posted if anything else transpires. If this stuff keeps up someone has to take some legal action. What they did to you people is VERY BAD business practice and I think they should be investigated. But so far It seems legit to me. But I guess I'll have to wait and see."
"I ordered some of their Expeditious gamer pc2700 256mb ram after reading a ton of positive reviews on various sites. I received notification of shipping about 2 days later. Not bad. UPS ground is notoriously slow, but I had it in my hand in about 7 days. Again, not that bad. SPD recognized the ram at pc2100 even though the sticker on the ram says pc2700. I tried to set the speed manually, but the system wouldn't install XP. Eventually I got the system to install by setting the ram to pc2100 with the slowest settings. The ram is supposed to run at pc2700 (333) at maxed out settings. It's a very attractive looking stick of ram though. It matches the rest of the copper stuff in my system very well. I wish I had tested the first stick before placing the order for the second stick. I'm hoping I just got the rare bad stick of ram, and the second stick is fine.
UPDATE:
I grabbed 'Leka' here:
http://www.leka.net/archive/
Grabbed the truly awesome 'memtest'
application for Leka here:
http://www.leka.net/addon_list.shtml
Set everything up, and did a very thorough memory test. The memory failed miserably on "Walking Ones" "Walking Zeroes" "Bit Flip" and "Block Sequential". So basically it's junk ram. I sent OCsystem an email requesting an RMA number. The second stick of ram gets here later today via UPS.
UPDATE: The second stick of ram got here today. It actually tests worse than the first stick. I have no idea how this company stays in business. So I've spent a total of 180 bucks for totally worthless ram. I'm going to give them one week to reply to my emails asking
for RMA, then I'm going to file a fraud complaint with the California State Attorney General's Office, and dispute the charges with my credit card company.
UPDATE: Ok, they were great about the RMA process to be honest. I had replies to my requests very fast. I shipped the memory back to them for 7 bucks with USPS Priority. They still haven't refunded my money yet, but they said it shouldn't take long. If it does, I've already been in contact with the california state attorney generals office department on consumer fraud. I'm getting the impression that these guys are drop shipping their products from their suppliers warehouse, and that their supplier is screwing them over. Hopefully they can find a better vendor for their products. I ended up getting two sticks of Kingmax brand memory (awesome stuff) from mwave.com. I'll update on how the refund process goes. As long as it goes well, I guess I'm not too unhappy overall. They were good about the RMA process."
"They charged my credit card the same day I placed the order but didn't ship the order for a week. No response to my email or phone call. 3 of the fan grills are missing. I bought 512mb pc2700 memory but its running as pc2100. No response to either of my emails yet. I will never order from OC System again."
"Absolute Nightmare!!!!! Let me explain November 2002 I ordered a small quantity of computer modding equipment (I run a small buisness preforming these mods) I was looking or alternate source for supplies. I placed my order early in the morning EST Thursday November 28 and expected the order to be shipped out the following Monday at the latest. I was not contacted by OC System until Monday the next week tlling me that my credit card address was invalid. After about 5 emails (unanswered by he way) and 4 45 minute telephone tries (endless cycle of "If you would like to hold press 1 I will try your extension again") I was finally able to get in touch with a human being. She was ablut as helpful as the recorded voice I informed her that the billing issue had been cleared up. She informd me taht she would verify the infomation and then ship the order. After about another 3 days and not hearing back from them I oncce again made an effort in futility to call them again and email them to no avail. I threatened to cancel the order but could not get in touch with them to do so. I threatened to call teh credit card compan and not honor the payment but they had already received payment from my credit card. I finally received an email from them with the shipping information onget this DEC 17 and would not be delivered until DEC 24. I will never do beuisness with this company ever again and will go beyond my efforts to sprea the word to others not to use theis company not matter ho good the prices are. "
"This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I ordered a Klipsch speaker system, a Plextor DVD/CDRW Combo drive, a floppy drive, CD/RW drive and a mouse. All were custom colored. The paint job they did was horrible, not even or smooth and they cracked the faceplate on the Plextor. I repainted everything myself in two days. On a previous occasion, I ordered a DIY motherboard and CPU kit. They shipped the CPU fan without any screws or the CoolMod I ordered. I am still putting my system together and I am afraid they screwed up the processor during burn-in. Both orders took a month to get. I will never do business with these clowns again. Stay of way from these people and order from repectable firms such as FrozenCPU, NewEgg, Provantage and Googlegear."
"What an absolute joke these people are. Ordered a 9500 Pro. Says 3 days to ship 3-4 days to arrive. 7 days later, and they hadn't even shipped it. And trying to contact them is a joke. 6 emails were ignored, and the idiots on the phone don't have a clue. Do EVER buy ANYTHING from these crooks!!!!"
"i have had a HORRID time with this company. it was very nice at the beginning. i ordered, and it got shipped fairly fast. now heres the problem, i ordered the chieftech aluminum case, with a window, in the color black. also i ordered 3 case fans, and a set of ata round cables, and a cathode light. they sent me a Silver case, no window, and the cables, cathode, and fans. i contacted them within 24 hours of it being recieved. i left a voicemail, waited a bit, no response, i left another voicemail after waiting on hold for an hour. still no response. i sent multiple emails pertaining to my problem and still no reply. just a couple days ago i got through. they agreed to send me the case cover with the window. but only in black. a fat lot of good its gonna do me to have a black case cover on a silver case. and after reading all the stories here, i am wary about sending it back for an rma at all! they were quick to rememdy the situation once i got in their face, but that is NOT how a store should be run. its the customer last here. and i would not recommend them to anyone."
"I ordered a 512MB stick of PC2700 CL2 memory on July 2. They charged my card the same day, site said in stock, shipping in three days. July 14th, site still said in stock, I emailed customer service. July 16th, I receive notice that memory is backordered. Finally shipped the 19th. Meanwhile, price went up $20- at least I got the lower price. Plugged it in my A7V333, won't boot any faster than PC2100 CL2.5 speed. Possibly because of finicky motherboard, but I'm buying name-brand next time."
"These guys are pain in the butt to deal with. The prices are so-so and shipping rates are fair, but it takes forever to get the goods out the door. And everything shipped requires a signature at time of delivery. Even the nickel-and-dime stuff. When I asked to have my order shipped without signature requirement I was told it was policy. Who is paying for shipping anyway? Now I have to drive 20 miles to pick up my order at the UPS terminal after already waiting 3 days for them to ship."
"Yeah, I don't remember the Invoice number. But after reading all the reviews (after purchasing) I was getting worried. But, seems like my 256mb of pc2700 RAM shipping within 5 days. Looks like I got the good of the bunch :). Might buy another 256 stick in the future, but I still have this one to test out."
