"Ordered 2 pairs of boots on April 7. Received a single pair 10 days later with no explanation of the discrepancy. I was out of town and did not have a chance to check this until May 1. Sent company an email to which I received no reply. Called them on May 3 and spoke with someone who put me on hold for a long time. When she came back on she said that there was a problem with the order but could not figure out WHAT it was and that someone else would have to help me. Said someone would get back to me. When I asked how long would be reasonable to wait she said "2 days".
This morning (May 7, FOUR days later) I received an email to let me know that the second pair was out of stock and they'd send a refund (which was received an hour later).
Based on the other negative reviews here, I have a strong suspicion that if I had not contacted them about the missing boot, I would never received a refund.
At least I did not get burned like some others have, but I won't be back at that store.
They don't seem to care about negative reviews, though. With all the negs posted here, they've never bothered to say anything in their defense.
My advice: stick with the big stores. They at least care about their customers. The little bottomfeeders rely on the vast numbers of new customers available online. Big stores care about their reputation. I've never gone wrong with Zappos or OnlineShoes."
"Boots
I ordered 1 pair of boots. Seven days later, I called to get the tracking information. I was told they were being shipped. I called back three days later and was told they were in the warehouse being shipped. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and after playing the hold game, I was told they were on backorder for at least 3 more weeks.
WARNING: DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!

"After reading some of the flame-reviews here, I was quite hesitant to order anything from OnlineBootStore.com/JGear. However, the boots I wanted (Chippewa 10" Briar Oiled Wellington Steel Toe boots) were $140 on Zappos (and out of stock), so I decided to take a chance, counting on the protection of my credit card. The other motivating fact: the exact same boots were $94, with free shipping (after using a $10 online coupon). Before ordering, I called in for help and questions. The rep was a native English speaker, bright and very helpful.
The boots arrived in perfect shape and I couldn't be happier with the bargain, service and quality. I'm not sure what has caused all the harsh negative comments, but my experience was quite positive and I'll use them again.

"Well, things have still not changed with this company. I just wished I had researched them before I ordered from them. It has been 2 1/2 weeks and I still have no tracking number but the charge certainly hit my credit card two days after I placed the order. I have called them 4 times so far and it is always a different excuse. They tell me they shipped and they don't know why I can't find the tracking number and then they tell me they will have the warehouse research it and call me back. I have heard that twice so far and still no call back. I am going to join the ranks of people who will never order from them again. And if I don't get my boots I ordered or my money back very soon, I just pursue legal action because it sounds to me like this business is a fraud."
"Welcome to my nightmare or at least my wife's. She ordered boots on 9/18, had to change the order on 9/25 for 8.5 size. The boots arrived in October; unfortunately a size 8, which did not fit. The boots were returned in November for an exchange for the right size boots. She also discussed a refund of our shipping cost since JGear did not full fill the order. After a month of waiting she contacted JGear to find out about the boots. They said the boots were worn and dirty and they were shipping them back. Everyone who has evaluated the wrong sized boots indicate that they look brand new, considering that she tried them on and walked around inside the house they were. We have complete documentation of emails and exchanges with JGear and have filed a incident with our credit card company and will be doing the same with PayPal soon. Unfortunately I cannot rate this company a zero. Save yourself a headache and SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE."
"Ordered boots on 1/5/2010. Charged $141.40 on 1/5/2010. Been checking their online order tracking system...it is a joke. Called 1/14 @ 12:00PM MST to get tracking # for product, as no shipping confirmation was sent, company did not have any information regarding my order, stated they would call me back, they did not. I called again at 5:30pm today (1/14) to get a tracking number, again I was told they did not have one, and would have to wait until the warehouse opened tomorrow to get the information. I was rushed off the phone both times with no information.
This company is joke. I don't expect to ever get mhy order. DO NOT do business with them. I have contacted the BBB and contested the charge on my CC just in case. AWFUL company. "
"I had a great experience with the store. I found my boots and they were shipped a day or two later. I was able to use their tracking system and had no problems. I would definately buy from them again!"
"Ordered boots December 13. Free shipping in time for Christmas (Bull crap). Billed on December 18. No tracking available on line, Called, no tracking available and was told to call back in 3 days. Called and was told boots will arrive December 30th. After Christmas. I was billed on Dec 18 but order wasn't shipped till the 22nd. Bill me and then sit on the merchandise for 4 days!!! After reading some other reviews I am now concerned I will never receive the boots. Could have gone to any number of local stores and purchased them. Doesn't always pay to shop on line. I guess I will print a picture of the boots, put it under the tree for her to open!! Yeah, Happy belated Christmas to my daughter!!!!!"
"Enjoyable experience. Got my Danner boots today and they look great and I got them at a great price as well. Would buy from them again."
"Terrible, Terrible Terrible, No Tracking, cannot stand by there 4 Business day rule. I ordered on Sunday called Thursday and they tried to tell me it had only been 2 buss days. Could not tell me even were my order stood or when it might ship. Customer service was terrible, everything was half ass. I am not sure if this is someone who runs this out of there basement our what. I really think that is the case. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!!!!!"
"First they cancel my order because their computer accepted two coupon codes, which was not prohibited in any fine print, then they "credit" me my second order with one coupon code because the boots were out of stock for at least a month. Why don't they tell you up front when something is out of stock for a long period rather than charging your card and making you wait a month. I went with another company, no telling what kind of boots I would have received if I waited. Just spend a few extra bucks and go with a reputable online company."
"I ordered two pair of boots from this company one for me, and one for my husband. The next day, they sent an email saying the pair for my husband was unavailable and would be backordered until the end of June. Not wanting to wait that long, I emailed then stating to cancel that part of the order. I heard nothing from them, so called and cancelled my husband's pair. After 5 days or so, I called again since I hadn't received a tracking number yet. The man I spoke with stated that he would have one in a few days. I asked him to then cancel the entire order. Something just didn't seem right to me. He stated that it was too late to cancel the order, that he would send me a tracking number, when he received one from the warehouse. He also stated that my items had already shipped. When I received my tracking number 3 days later, it showed that they had not shipped when he said they had, and I feel that I should have been allowed to cancel at that time. After receiving my boots, (12 days after ordereing them) I decided that they were not what I wanted. I called and spoke to a woman and asked about their return policy. She sent me to a page on their website that has you print out a form to be taped to the box with their address on it. I received my refund about a week later, with $7 less than I paid. Since this wasn't the correct amount, I called the company. I asked them why I was shorted $7. She stated that it was a "restocking fee" and if you look on the website you can find where it says that. I said I didn't search the website for the information, i called and actually spoke to a person. That person never mentioned it. I asked her since that was the case, would she refund the $7. She said the $7 is their policy, and would not even consider refunding it.
Seems to me that this may be a business run out of a back room in someone's home. They are not very good with customer service, and not very helpful. I feel that they are deceptive by not mentioning "restocking fees" when someone calls to ask about returning an item."
"NOTE: Besides Onlinebootstore.com, this company (Jgear, Inc.) also does business as Bootbiz.com.
The problems with this company started 3 weeks ago, and to this point remain unresolved.
I placed a simple, one item order for a pair of waterproof boots. The wrong product was sent to me. I immediately returned the item, completely unused back. Almost 2 weeks after receiving the boots I returned, Jgear had still not sent the correct product to me. After I had made a few calls with no resolution, and with this transaction going no where I decided it was time to cancel the order and take my business elsewhere.
After a week had passed since canceling the order, and again, after numerous calls trying to get a refund for the product I never received, I was informed the refund had "gone thru" and would show on my account soon. Later the same day, Jgear (Bootbiz.com) sent me an email titled, "refund notification." I thought the ordeal was over, until I noticed the refund amount was short... they charged a restocking fee for sending me the wrong product!?
When (again) I called to notify Jgear of yet another mistake they had made with this very simple order, I was informed (in a very rude and unprofessional manner) that “this was their return policy and there was nothing they could do about it.”
At that point, the frustration of dealing with this mess had grown apparent. I asked to speak with a manager to resolve the issue and was immediately hung up on.
I have over 10 years of extensive experience doing business online with many companies and I have NEVER witnessed such incompetent and unprofessional business practices that Jgear (aka Bootbiz.com) has shown.
Unfortunately, this ordeal is not yet over, but I am pursuing every proper channel available to resolve the issue justly.

"I ordered boots for my husband's Christmas. They arrived on time and were eactly what I had ordered. That is where the good experience with this company ended. When my husband tried on the boot the leather pull tab pulled out. I immediately called the company and told them what happened. The customer service representative told me to send them back if I wanted to but, they would decide if it was a defect with the boots or if we had been negligent in the care of the boots. She added that rarely was the boot defective. So, we would just be out of luck. I could not believe what she was saying. The Double H Work Boots could not withstand the rigor of trying on!! Please beware of this company and do not do business with them!!!! I wish I had known about this website before I ordered them.
Sincerely,
Cynthia SLedge"
"Ordered boots on 12/1. Charged $158.25 on 12/1. Called 12/5 to get tracking # for product, as no shipping confirmation was sent, company did not have any information regarding my order, stated they would call me back, did not. I called again at 5:30pm today (12/9) to get a tracking number, again I was told they did not have one, and would have to wait until the warehouse opened tomorrow to get the information IN PAPER COPY. I spoke with Brett, who claimed to be the owner of the company, as well as April, both of whom were VERY short with me and very rude. I was rushed off the phone with no information. They stated that their computer system was not linked to the warehouse and they did not have any shipping information. When I asked why the warehouse closed at 4:30, they stated that it was in Ohio (they are in Wisconsin), and not in their time zone. When I asked how then, they would get a paper copy by going to the warehouse in the morning, they were dumbfounded and had no answer.
I looked the company up online, and found that they have numerous complaints against them for the same issues. I called back and spoke with April, requesting a cancellation of my order and a refund. She now stated that if they had a tracking number they could not refund the money. I reminded her that since we had just spoken 10 minutes prior, and she did not have a tracking number then, or last week when we spoke, it should be no problem refunding the money. These people are shady and HORRIBLE at customer service and assistance. DO NOT do business with them. I have contacted the BBB and contested the charge on my CC just in case. AWFUL company. "
