RE: the Holosun HM3X Red Dot Magnifier
Welp, I learned something about this after spending some time on the range. I mounted it behind a Holosun 510C reticle - which is dialed into 50 / 200 yards on an AR-15 shooting .223. I flipped over the magnifier and discovered that even though it brought the target "closer" in my field of view, my aim was off. To ensure there wasn't something else going on, I flipped the magnifier off and was ringing steel targets at 200 yards pretty consistently w/o the magnifier. Flipped it down again - miss.

You guessed it: you have to sight in the magnifier, too. Once that process was complete, I was back to ringing the easier-to-spot targets consistently. "
