"I purchased several holiday presents from Overstock.com. While I was pleased with some items as well as the shipping time, I will never use the company again. The $4.95 return fee per item is insulting. I purchased pearl earrings that looked lovely on the web. When I received them, they were full of black inclusions and certainly not the earrings that were represented on the web. I returned another set of earrings and the $4.95 charge came to 25% of the order. I emailed customer service about the pearl earrings that were considered "junk" and all I got was a form letter saying something like we're sorry you were disappointed, we disclose our policies, blah blah blah. Be VERY sure what you are ordering as this company likes to make money from the returns of substandard merchandise. Also if you do return something, be prepared to wait a LONG time for your refund."

"After reading many negative comments about Overstock.com, I was hesitant to order a PDA online from them. However, I was pleased that my order was processed expeditiously, I got a confirming e-mail with shipping information so that I could track my order, and it arrived in about 3 business days, faster than was promised. The Palm I bought was advertised as "blemished", but except for some very minor scratches on the back, is in perfect condition. I saved $50 off a new Palm, and the shipping cost was the cheapest I've ever seen! Based on this one experience, I would recommend Overstock.com and would buy from them again!"

"I no longer order from overstock. After gettting defective towels, it took 5 weeks and more than six emails to get an RMA and return shipping label.

Then, purchased a framed print "Imperial Crown Fritillaries" for a gift. Though it looked beautiful online, the picture I got was horrible. Just plain ugly. Too ugly to give as gift, and it cost $85. Then I had to pay return shipping, and they charged me $5! Outrageous. Never again. Here is their explanation for it in their email: "I am sorry that the 'Van Gogh - Imperial Crown fritillaries Framed Canvas' was not what you expected, ... please be advised that our perception of electronically generated colors differs slightly from what you perceive when we see natural colors... --???? Huh?

"I placed an order for about $200 worth of various items and when i received the confirmation a minute or so later i noticed that one of them had been recorded with incorrect options. I responded to the email requesting that this be corrected, and then headed to their online chat to try and deal with it there. I was assured repeatedly, over the course of about an hour, by Jay E. and his supervisor Katie D. that there was nothing that could be done to change my order because it had already been 'processed'. Nor could they issue me an RMA before it arrives. I ultimately placed another order for the correct item.

Today i received an email in response to the one i sent last night, stating that their records show that my order included what i wanted and not what the confirmation email states that they are going to ship to me. Also, that all orders placed between 12/30 and 1/04 won't be shipped until 1/05. I don't know who to believe, so i asked Vince V. for clarification.

I find it VERY interesting that they are helpless to modify an order that won't ship for 2 or 3 days, and don't plan to order anything from overstock.com ever again.

"I purchased a Netgear Router from Overstock.com. They were the lowest cost on the net as far as for the router, and definately the lowest on shipping, only $2.95 I got it very quickly, even tho it was during the Holidays. "Overstock.com has been good to me. I have only made a couple of orders from this company (two Christmas season in a row) and I have yet to have a problem.

My orders were processed correctly. I have a return from my order this year. They promised a return authorization number in 3-5 business days and I got it in about 1.5 days.

Their response was not only timely, but also specific to my situation. While I didn't really appreicaite the offer of another item, thier job is sales so I understand.

I haven't got my refund yet. However I am impressed with the repspone time given this time of year. I will be sure to let you know if Overstock.com delivers in the promised 14-day window for refunding my money.

"Overstock continues to lie about the actual shipping of my order which was placed on 12-20-04. As of 12-25-04 they cannot verify if it shipped, other than "on the computer" it shows it shipped DHL. DHL has no record of the shipment. Overstock generates their own airbill with DHL, but unless Overstock sends to the hub, it is never tracked in the DHL system. Overstock tries to blame the snowstorm in the Ohio Valley, but this order supposedly shipped days before the storm (by the way, this was for a 2nd Day Air). I have spoke with 4 customer service reps (Patricia, Lee, Danny, Jeff), 1 supervisor (Megan),all promising a phone call and/or email followup, but NO communication follows. I will NEVER purchase from this outfit again, and should have looked here at the reviews before doing so. By the way, I was billed on the 21st for $522, but have nothing to show for it....BAD BUSINESS."

"In mid-November, I ordered two sets of a DVD collection and a copy of FAHRENHYPE/911, and expected delivery within 2 weeks. After three weeks, I called and was told to wait another four days. (They obviously shipped it then) But only the collection arrived. E-mailed on Dec. 17th and was "guaranteed" that someone would contact me within four more days with a satisfactory answer.
Now 8 days later... NO RESPONSE, NO SHIPMENT, No CREDIT ! I won't do business with OVERSTOCK.COM ever again

"Placed an order for a $10 book listed as in stock in late November. Assumed I was allowing plenty of time before Christmas. Inquired with Overstock in mid December, and they said to wait a few more days and check with them if it had not arrived.

December 21st, was getting very worried as it had not yet arrived. Contacted Overstock and they said they would issue a trace and that would take 10 days, and following that it may take another 10 days to ship. From the sound of it, it will be approximiately 2 months from order date to receipt of this book (which is still in stock).

Customer support emails from Overstock contain advertising. Very disrespectful. Would not order from them again. Amazon may cost a little bit more for books, but it is definitely worth it as you would not be subjected to this sort of monkey business at a more muture online reseller like Amazon.

"I ordered a Refurbished Zire71 Palm Pilot with some anxiety after reading all the bad reviews here at ResellerRatings.com. I just couldn't resist the low price. I figured I'll take a chance. The item arrived on schedule with all parts and software. Had no problems as of today (12/21/04).
The only thing that made me nervous when I opened the package, a sticker claiming "As Is, no warranty". So far I haven't had to deal with returned material nor technical support. I feel pretty lucky.

I may shop again at Overstock.com.

"Very deceptive. I bought a Logitech Joystick from this place. I thought it was going to be new but it was refurbished. I called them to complain and they told me that it was listed as refurbished. They commonly list "refurbished" next to the picture in big bold letters for refurbished items. The page for the joystick was about 5 pages long. At the bottom on small print it lists refurbished. There is nothing near the picture. You'd have to read all five LONG pages to see this. I pointed this out to the person I talked to and he said it shouldn't be like that. He said he'd credit my account for $5. I never received the credit.

Avoid this company. They lie and bury their refurbished stock.
