"If you're thinking about making a purchase at Overstock, LOOK ELSEWHERE. I have made two purchases from them in the past two years, and both have been mistakes.
They misadvertised a Seiko watch to have a sweeping second hand, and when I asked to return it, they would only give me in-store credit because I had paid with a Paypal account. I am certain it is not impossible to refund a Paypal purchase because I have even had ebay sellers refund bad Paypal transactions... they are probably too cheap to swallow the Paypal fees. Overstock is even worse than sketchy Ebay, so STAY AWAY!

"I placed an order for a 14-kt. White Gold Diamond Cross Slider Pendant on 1/22/04. I can actually say that "the big O" did a fine job as far as confirming my order and getting me the tracking number. That's when the order went bad.
I paid for 2 Day Air from UPS($9.57). After the 2 day shipping period had passed, UPS failed to produce a necklace. Online tracking said the package was in my local sorting facility, but to make a short story shorter, the UPS associate said the package never left a Kentucky facility.
This is where the runaround of phone calls begins. "Big O" said they would not ship another necklace until UPS returned the lost one. That's what I dont understand. If UPS LOST the necklace, how is it going to be returned? Meanwhile, I've paid for the item.
So, today is the 8th of Feb. and still no necklace. I placed a call to O's customer service dept. and RE-explained whats been going on. After a rather lengthly discussion they have agreed to overnight me (free of shipping charges) a new necklace. I should have it by tuesday.
The manager I spoke with, we'll call him Sean, was very helpful and understanding. I'am just waiting to see what happens. He is supposed to call me on monday morning to confirm the shipping and credit info. I will be extremely impressed if I actually receive a call. We'll just have to wait and see.
I still do not know who to be weary of for the mishap. I have dealt with UPS many times and they have always resolved any problem in a timely manner. The conclusion I have come to is that both UPS and O's return/replacement policies need some amending. Other that, I have full confidence in either company."

On 1/23/04 I purchased a refurb xbox for $135 b/c it was a great deal. It was supposed to include an S-Controller and was rated in excellent condition. There was a 1-2 business day shipping guarantee. I wish I would've checked this website before ordering.
I was given a fed ex tracking number the night I ordered which impressed me. However that tracking number had no shipping info for over a week. I was given the runaround by feded as well as Overstock.com. Finally when I got an attitude I was told that the item wasn't given to fed ex yet. I was given some explanation that they take all of their orders to fedex on a truck and couldn't bring the truck there till it was full of orders. What kinda BS is that? So finally 2 weeks after I order the item I get it.
It came with the standard xbox controller, the xbox was scratched to hell, the jewel is so scuffed you can't even read xbox, the stickers with the serial number and all are torn apart on the bottom, the dvd drive doesn't open half the time, and I have to wiggle the controller to get it to work.
I called overstock complaining and they said if I pay return shipping they'll refund me with a 15% restocking fee even though it's defective. They didn't offer me any other choices.

"I bought a vacuum cleaner from overstock.com. It arrived within a couple of weeks which was fine with me. However it had several things wrong with it. The handle was broken and had to be glued together. One of the brackets that holds the cord was loose. The lid on the plastic compartment that holds one of the attachments was loose and kept flopping open. The beater bar would only spin when the vacuum is set to its lowest carpet setting. I called the company to ask them to replace it and was told that I would receive a label by email which I would need to take to UPS so that I could ship the vacuum back. They would then ship a replacment to me free of any shipping charges. It sounded great except I never got the email with the label. I called them back again. I still never received the label. I called them back again and was told that they would send the label in the mail to make sure that I get it. It has been almost 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten the label. It seems that they are running some kind of a scam where they pawn off junk at a discount price and then give you the run around when you complain and hope that you will get tired of the hassle and just go away. "I normally don't post reviews but tend to base my purchasing on other's reviews. I have had such a bad experience with this company that i felt the NEED to post my experience and how HORRIBLE of an experience i had with this company. Placed my order first thing in the morning 12/31/03. I understand with the holiday being 1/1/04 so understading that the order will leave "1-2 days from the warehouse" i assumed the order would be processed and shipped before it did. Well, the order didn't process till 1/5 and then shipped till 1/7. On overstock's website, it clearly states that it was shipped 1/5 when on USPS's website the invoice for shipping wasn't recieved till 1/6 and the order picked up 1/7. What's going on here? Why the need for the extra two days? Well, turns out their "Free Shipping" is via media mail! What respected company ships electronics via media mail? Seriously, the slowest method possibliy known to man, this company somehow endorses. I checked the difference in price, it would have cost the company an extra $3 to ship it Prority and not lose a customer who ended up posting a horrible review. So, tracking suffered becuase of the oversight on their choice of shipping method. The item didn't get here till today! Today is 1/20/04!! Seriously, throughout the time i was wating called the company several times to complain, representatives are not helpful. During that time, the item i purchased dropped in price, first $5, then $10 and the company refused to issue me credit, even though i still have NOT recieved my item?? How bad is their policy here?? So being fustrated, i ended up purchasing from a local store. Serves me right trying to save a few bucks and purchasing online. Now the item is here, i don't want it, called overstock, $5 return fee, 15% restocking fee and they don't pay for shipping. Oh, here's the kicker, item has to be processed for return within 15 days of shipping. Ok, no math genius here, but if they claimed they shipped the 5th, today is the 20th, then i would have to alert them that my return is on the way... TODAY!!! Are you kidding me?? Now i know why they squeezed out those extra few days. This is TERRIBLE, the WORST EXPEREIENCE EVER from an accomplished internet-ordering customer for several years. NEVER WILL I ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN! Save yourself the headache and avoid these crooks at all costs. "I ordered five items from this company on 12/6/03. All were media items (books and CD's) and all were for Christmas. I received two of the items by 12/15 and never received the rest. The e-mails I received said everything was shipped, but still nothing. I spoke with a customer representative on 12/21 who said he really didn't know if it was shipped or not and well, wait 15 business days and let's see. Well, it's January 05, 2004 and I have yet to receive my items. The company finally did give me a credit. I will never purchase again from Overstock. com. "

"Overstock lowered the price of an item I purchased before I received the order. I contacted Customer service as to whether I was due the difference as a store credit. They initially stated I did not notify them in time. I attached their "Price Guarantee" which states that if they lower the price within 5 days of your order that you would be entitled to a store credit. They asked for information I had already given them and said they would get back to me.
I waited 5 days with no response so I emailed them today with all of the prior emails asking to be removed from their mailing list. Their response was to delete me from their mailing list.
