I bought a Sanford Tiffany-Style Torchiere (floor lamp. It is attractive and well-made. The style is more muted than some of the Tiffany-Style lamps and may fit better into some rooms.
Unfortunately, the lamp that I was shipped had a cracked pane in the glass shade portion. This was difficult to see and didn’t show up until I had it assembled and the light turned on. I was surprised at the damage, because the lamp is so well packaged, that it was unlikely that it happened while in the box.
I might add that the lamp was easy to assemble and, speaking as an design engineer, the method of dividing the lamp stand into shippable sections while maintaining its structural integrity was clever, effective, and attractive.
I had also ordered an RCA H930 HP Wireless Modem Jack.
Sadly, this product has so many restrictions to its ability to function at all, that even the helpful person at the RCA Help Desk was unable to offer any workable suggestions.
I called Overstock’s Customer Service about the lamp, and spoke to a helpful, pleasant gentleman. Before we terminated our conversation, I told him that I also had a RCA Wireless Modem Jack that I assumed that I was going to have to just forget about, since the packaging was plastic and heat-sealed around the edges. This makes a package that is virtually impossible to open neatly. I told him that I had torn the package somewhat in opening it. I was assuming that he’d tell me that it couldn’t be returned: but, no – he said to send it back and he’d send me a Return Sticker.
I returned the first lamp using a Return Sticker that was emailed to me and was sent another lamp and it was fine … something that you can be proud of having in your home. The cost of the Modem Jack was refunded and I couldn’t be happier with the whole transaction.
It seems fair to consider my problems as a “Test” of their Customer Service, and they have passed with flying colors.
Great! I’m impressed. This is gratifying since both my wife and I enjoy ordering from Overstock.Com and have been very pleased with the items we received.

"I ordered two books about health which I received in quick order (a week). I researched the book on several sites and found that Overstock had the lowest price. Confirmation of the order and quick email responses with revelant information.Site access gives you up to date tracking information. My overall experience was quick, convenient, and cost effective. Recommend, just do your homework before buying. "
"Applause for Overstock's customer service. The camcorder I ordered was shipped promptly but was defective. Customer service was friendly, informed and helpful. I was issued an RMA for free shipping back to them and my credit card was promptly refunded. I definitely like the way they do business."
"This company's website is riddled with typos. My item said free shipping but when I purchased it I was charged a shipping fee. Customer service admitted that their web site had "bugs" that they were trying to work out. Would not or could not correct the shipping fee. Customer service stated that they would cancel the order, which is what I did. We shall see if this occurs and my credit card is credited. My experience in the past with this company shows that it usually takes 2-3 calls to customer service to get things like this straightened out. I asked customer service to close out my account. There are many other good sites to shop at that don't try to rip you off."
"I ordered a Logitech Elite Keyboard from overstock.com. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time, the shipping wasn't terrible, but it wasn't super fast either.
I was sorely disappointed when I recieved the keyboard, however. The wrist-wrest was badly scuffed. I mean VERY badly, it was practically white in places. Also, some of the home row keys were worn in places, to that shiny, greasy-look that happens after an extreme amount of use by people who don't wash their hands. Perhaps the most disgusting, however, was an incredible amount of hair lodged under the keys, and poking out at certain places. This was filthy, it looked like someone who hadn't washed their hair in a month got a haircut right above the keyboard. These may seem like relatively small problems, but I would have returned it JUST for these reasons. But there was an even bigger problem, a HUGE problem, in fact.
Three of the keys did not work. I tried it on three separate PC's. The first was NumLock. I have numlock defaulted to ON in my PC's bios, so this is not a big deal. Also, the numpad enter key did not work, and I use it very frequently. Can you guess what the third key was? It was the bloody SPACE BAR! The SPACE BAR did not work. So much for... typing.
I immediately contacted the online tech support, and was connected with a tech support guy in under 30 seconds. I explained to him the problem with the keys (leaving out the aesthetic and filth problems) and told him I refused to pay for the return shipping since they sent me a horribly faulty product. Overstock.com sent me a prepayed UPS shippnig label by email three days later. I repacked and shipped the keyboard back to them the next day. About a month passed, and I recieved the replacement. The replacement is perfect. It looks new and works like it should. Overall, I am very dissatisfied by the original product and the time it took to replace it, but I am very satisfied by their willingness to pay for the return charges and the quality of the replacement. I may... or may not shop here again. Their prices really can't be beaten."

"I placed an order online for a printer on Thursday 7/15 at 10:12pm. I then received an email advertisement from a competitor that had a better printer at a cheaper price about 7 hours later. I notified Overstock.com at 6:45am on Friday morning by email that the order must be canceled (as I didn't have enough room on my credit card for both printers, and because Overstock.com would charge me a 15% restocking fee when I would refuse their shipment). Notice both actions--the order and the email canceling the order--occurred during non-business hours, meaning nothing was actually physically happening between the 2 contacts. I then found a no cancellation policy buried in the "help" section which states the following: "Orders cannot be canceled once the checkout process has been completed. Due to our commitment to process orders quickly, once the checkout process is completed our warehouse is immediately notified to pick and pack the order for shipment." This was NEVER disclosed during the order process. Also, the reason for not being able to cancel an order doesn't prove true even by their own words and actions! This text was clearly printed on the order confirmation I received after I placed the order: "Your order has been received and is being processed. Once the processing has been completed and all of your items have been shipped; you will receive a final confirmation email. We will contact you within three business days if any difficulties occur during the processing of your order." I did not receive any shipping notification until Sunday 7/18 at 2:48pm! So there was PLENTY of time for them to cancel my order! In ANY case however, having a HIDDEN "no cancellation" policy (that doesn't stand on any basis in fact) that is not even noted anywhere during the order, is deceitful and a scam to trap you into a bad purchase. This becomes especially true when you factor in the 15% restocking fee that they then charge you for returning an order that could've been easily stopped in the first place!
They also charge your credit card immediately and not when your order is actually shipped as is the standard with online businesses. This practice is not apparent until days later when you can verify the actual charge date with your credit card company either.

"Everything went perfectly, products arrived via USPS in under a week."
"Great service. Items arrived in less than a week. I was a little bit skeptical because of the low reseller rating here, but they did not disappoint."
"Lost two items on my order. Promised delivery end of July. Nothing. Now they promise to track it for another 10 days. I refused because it has taken them more than 15 days to send these two books. I ask for a refund and they replied to track the items instead."
"All I have to say is, wow.
I made a web order in the evening on 7/19/04. So I understand it was too late for them to process it that day. They shipped it 7/21/04, and I received it 7/22/04. Nice. It looks like that have a shipping department in CA (where I am). So I was able to buy it without tax from UT, and still get it in 1 day. Nice. It was well packaged and arrived in said condition. I would order from them again. Thanks OS."
"Beware of ordering through this company. I ordered a Bluettoth SDIO Card for my Palm 515. They did not send the software CD with the order. They stated that it didn't come with a CD. Weeks of emails produced meaningless gibberish and propaganda but no CD. I finally called the customer service department and sent it back. In a previous order they substituted an item without consulting me. Of course the item was out of stock when I called after receiving the order."
"Item was purchased on July 2, 2004. According to Overstock.com it was shipped on July 3, 2004. I wrote to them a few days ago indicating that I had not yet received the item, but have received no response. It is now over two weeks since I placed my order and they indicate that it was shipped, but I have still not received it."
"The product (a mattress topper) arrived intact and quickly. I have ordered from Overstock.com 6 times in the last three years. There was once when a refurbished digital camera didn't work at all, but that was most likely the fault of the manufacturer (Fuji). It was under Fuji's warranty, so it was fixed at no extra charge. Other than that minor incident, all other transactions went smoothly. While their prices are not always competitive, the flat shipping rate of just $2.95 is really nice. Every now and then, they even bring it down to $1. Will do business with them again."
"This company is terrible. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against them. Better Business Bureau complaint number 1558499."
