"i am SO happy with Overstock. Today was #5 order placed with them. EVERY previous order has been literally FANTASTIC. I live in DE, and I've never had a problem receiving my packages. Yes, sometimes, they take a bit, but I always get a "sent" email with a tracking number, so I can track my package. Today, I placed an order. After placing it, I noticed something else I wanted to add to the order. I then wrote an email to them asking if they could possibly add that item into my order, or cancel my first order, and I would just recreate it. The rep emailed back stating that the item had already been mailed, but I could order the item, WITH NO SHIPPING CHARGE!!!!
I did just that. I am seriously satisfied with this company and will do business with them again, and again, and again..."
"They advertised an HP desktop computer that distinctly said it came with an monitor. I ordered it thinking it was a good deal since all the other computer listings said they did not come with a monitor. After ordering it we got an email that said they made a mistake online and it doesn't actually come with one. We had the option of taking the computer w/o a monitor or returning it. Well ordering something online is like a written agreement and they did not hold up to it. We wanted the monitor that was promised us. We ended up settling for a discount on the advertised monitor which I am still not happy with. Instead of a 17", they sent us a 15" and we are now waiting for them to receive the incorrect monitor so they can send the correct one. We are very dissatisfied with Overstock.com and will never do business with them again. "
"This was my first purchase from overstock.com and one of my worst online shopping experiences to date!
I ordered the Logitech z-540 speaker set (4 satellites + subwoofer) for what seemed like a low price. The speakers were listed as factory recoditioned and overstock.com went to great lengths on their website to stress that factory reconditioned items are as good if not better than brand new ones. They claim that the return rate for such items is less than 2%.
Overstock shipped the speakers with UPS on 07/29 and I got them on 08/11. That's 13 days later! I'm not putting any blame on overstock for the slow shipping, but since they offer only a 20 day return policy (minus shipping and %15 restocking fee!), they should know better and either offer expedited shipping or extend the return policy by 10 days. Incidentaly, their return policy is overly stringent and they charge the restocking fee even if for example the item they ship is DOA.
The speakers arrive in a plain brown box. There is no manual or any indication that the package was put together in a factory. For all I know, it could have been picked up at a yard sale. I set up the speakers and everything works at first. 5 or 6 days later, the satellites start dying leaving me with one functional speaker! It also happens that my return period expires around the same time. So now I am stuck with a defective product and no chance of getting my money back.
In hindsight, I realize I should have chosen a more reputable reseller who offers a more accomodating return policy. I found out too late, that Amazon was selling the same speakers for only $15 more, in original condition and with full manufacturer's warranty, which shows that the 'bargain' prices that overstock touts are not such great bargains after all, especially considering the bad service they offer.
You certainly get what you paid for with overstock."
"I purchased from them, (first time) i realized this place is really tricky. They use paypal as a main source of payment, never use paypal to pay for your items, your refund will be in-store credit. I paid for 3-5 day shipping, turned out to be 21 days. Both watches i ordered came out to be defective, what are the chances of that happening. 3 months later, i receive me full credit, (they weren't going to refund my shipping, but at least they did) and i tried to order an item, it doesn't ship to my zip code, what the heck?!, i tried some magazines, "does not ship to zip code entered" so i ended up picking out some stupid books. I hope my books aren't defective...Save your time and money, go somewhere else. Doing this evaluation, i wish there were a button worse than poor, this is the worse company i've ever dealt with. TRST ME!!"
"I ordered logitech Z340 speakers from this merchant on the 6th of August.As promised the item shipped after 2 business days.
Shipping really sucks at overstock.com. All that they tell you is that your order has been accepted and it remains like that for some time.When I tried tracking my shipment through UPS, it said billing info recd. on the 8th.From 8th to 13th my product remained with UPS.I dont know what they were doing with it and now even after 2 days, the site just shows me the status of 13th August.its already 9 days since I placed my order.They dont provide any real time statistics.
I will never buy from this merchant again.I was atleast expecting my product in 5 days-the time normally taken to ship via ground."
"I have only purchased books from this seller and have never had a problem. The books have been brand new and at a price lower than Amazon. Shipping price is very low.
My only complaint about their website is when you are looking up a subject, i.e., Windows XP, you get hits for everyting with the word "windows" including home improvement and decorating books. I usually go to Amazon and review books on a particular subject, get the title and author, and then go to Overstock to see if the price is cheaper."
"I ordered a RioVolt SP250 CD MP3 player from Overstock.com during their buisness hours on July 29. The prouduct's description said that it would ship in 1-2 buisness days. I kept checking the status of my order online, but in exactly in 2 buisness days, my product was reported shipped via UPS with a link to the tracking number. When I looked up the package in UPS's tracking system, it turns out it was shipped on the 29th, my original order date! I cannot complain, because it shipped earlier than I expected, but their order status does need some work.
The product arrived on-time and as described on their website. The product worked flawlessly, and I am very happy with it.
The package did not include an invoice of any kind, it just had a thank-you letter from Overstock.com. I've seen worse, so they get an OK but not great here.
The physical packing of the package was very good, includied much padding so I was very pleased with that part of my order.
Their customer support is great once you get a hold of them. They are available 24/7 except on federal holidays, which is very nice. However, I was on hold for 10 minutes before sombody answered the phone. He was very polite, had all the answers to my questions, and did not give me an "I think so" answer.
So overall, I would give this comapny an 8 out of 10 because of: 1)Real-time order status needs improvement and 2)Packing invoice needs improvement. "
"We've ordered a few books, CDs, and DVDs from overstock.com and never had a problem. (I pre-ordered the 5th Harry Potter book for a ridiculously low price -- less than $15 WITH shipping -- and received it ONE business day later than I would have if I'd paid amazon.com's much higher shipping rate.) Their prices are amazing, and they were surprisingly prompt and helpful over e-mail when we had a question about one of our orders.
One caveat, for the picky and paranoid: when I placed a pre-order, they charged my credit card right away, months before the item shipped; I know some people don't like that, but I don't care."

"Cannot cancell my order when placed.
I placed an order with overstock on July 9. On July 10 I checked my order status. It says the order in process. I phoned the company to see if my item have been shipped. They said NO. Because it talke 5 - 10 business days to ship to me, I asked them to cancell my order. One of the customer representatives I spoke with told me that, "When you placed an oder, you cannot cancell the order no matter what." She also asked me that if I have read the company policy.
I highly not recommend to do any business with this company. Nothing else except low price."
"I have made quite a few purchases from Overstock - mainly but not exclusively by any means books. Up until my last order, no complaints. But the last one led me to an experience I could have done very well without.
My order consisted of 3 books and one CD. Simple, right? Not if you're Overstock, apparently. For one of the books, I received cassettes instead. A pain, but should be simple to fix, or so I thought. Two telephone calls to Overstock customer service resulted in a lot of promises and my having to re-order the book, although Overstock agreed with me that the link I clicked on to purchase the book was the problem.
I would get an RMA via email, I would get credited, and I would have to write a note explaining it all, they said. A week later, no RMA. No nothing. I just hope I receive a book this time and not tapes.
I know I could fuss with the credit card company and dispute the charge, but you know what? Twice recently I have had to do that and I am not up to another round of it at the moment. So, I will donate the tapes to an elderly or blind advocacy organization and take my small tax write-off for them. I'll feel good about that, it won't cost me a bundle, and with a little luck I might still get the book.
Would I order again? Yeah, most likely. Still, this wasn't a satisfactory experience. Their CS people were pleasant enough but, IMO, not competent enough to fix my problem.

"I wont recommend this site for any purchase. I bought a Logitech Cordless Headset. It stopped working after 3 months. I contacted Logitech customer support and I was told that Logitech wont serve refurbished items. Yes..! I was shocked to note that the item which I bought was refurbished. I WAS CHEATED by overstock. They didnt tell me at the time of purchase.
When I contacted overstock.com, it is still a shock. They wont entertain any requests after 3 months.
