"I ordered a 256MB stick of PC133 RAM via 2nd day air. It had to be back ordered so it took longer for me to get it than I wanted. Not a problem, these things happen. I actually got it earlier than expected, always a good thing. Had no trouble tracking the order as they have a Phone system. Never order from a company that doesn't, it's not a good idea. I found the packing wasn't the best, a little bitty sick of ram in a great big bax filled with a loong strand of crumpled paper. I installed the RAM and it worked just fine. After three months trying to find compatible RAM it was a deffinate relief. I especially liked their search bar which took me directly to several pages of the only brand I asked for. Also the fact that they a wide variety of merchandise brands to pick from is a big plus. When the RAM arrived I found it was exactly the brand that I ordered, I've had trouble with that before. "PC Connection sets the standard for Internet resellers. I have been using PCC for over five years, for most of my hardware and software purchases, and have found them to be the most reliable and efficient Internet reseller.

Web site: Easy-to-use interface, with search engine and helpful browsing interface, as well as the usual specials. Keyword searches return listings ranked by "Most Popular Results", then price, with a handy price range breakdown on the bottom to save mouse clicks. Product descriptions are complete and accurate, with reliable item availability notes.

Merchandise: PCC stocks all the name brands and models, and they are the first to get them. I just got an IBM laptop for immediate delivery, which was listed "within 2 weeks" at IBM's own store. And PCC gets custom configurations, which you'd otherwise have to "build" at the OEM Website.

Shipping: For orders over $150, shipping is free, but I always use their next-day air. For a ridiculously low fee ($20 for a $3099 IBM T40), if you place your order by 2am (central), your order will arrive the next business day. This is better than what the others charge for their basic, cheapo ground shipping. In fact, for me it exposes the S&H ripoff, in which a reseller will advertize a sexy price for his stuff, then stick it to you on the S&H end.

Quality and reliability: I have placed more orders than I can count with PCC, with only one return, a couple of years ago, which was handled promptly and cheerfully. Overnight means overnight - not a single late delivery.

Third, pricing: If you are purely a price shopper, you may be disappointed. PCC is not a heavy discounter. However, it is an honest pricer. Though prices are close to list, except for sale items, I think they are justified for reasons given below.

OEMs do not like to see their product discounted, but in Fair Trade markets like USA, they cannot enforce list pricing. One way an OEM can "encourage" list pricing is to give preference in allotment to resellers like PCC. I believe this is why I have never had a defective product from PCC. I cannot say this for other resellers I have dealt with.

Another reason for PCCs reliability is that it co-locates its stocking warehouse with the shipper. To give reliable availability updates, PCC obviously uses the most advanced inventory control system, which is integrated with its order processing system. This is why if an order is available "Today" you can be sure it will be on your desk tomorrow.

One quibble: I ordered my laptop with the wrong OS, but they wanted to impose a 15% restocking charge to exchange it. They have a hard policy about returned computers. I'm a good customer and would have appreciated an accomodation, but I respect the policy. A tight ship is reason PCC succeeds.
