"decent service... the only thing that I was not satisfied with was that the website said free shipping, but I received a call from photoloon a few days after my order and they asked if I wanted to upgrade to fedex shipping for $25 more. I asked if people have had problems receiving their product w/ the regular free shipping and he said some have not received their order that way and had to file a claim on their own. So I felt like even tho this site had the best price on the camera i wanted... I didn't really get the best price in the end because I was made to feel like I had to pay the extra $25 for fedex shipping. However, I do love the camera that I received so I'd say the service was decent.
Update 8/18/09: Photoloon saw this review and contacted me because they didn't want an unhappy customer. I think that this is great customer service. They ended up resolving the issue with me."
"Positives - good prices, courteous salespersons and customer service reps. Camera and lens (Nikon D300 and Nikkor f1.4) are fabulous, and I got the extended warranties which I've always done since my D60 went swimming in Hawaii :(
Negatives - paid for "rush shipping" for and order on Monday and they shipped it on Thursday - had to call 3 times to get shipping number..."

absolutely ignorant rep is going to call you back within 2-3 days after order was placed, he will be sort of nice at the beginning trying to sell you "better battery" or extended service plan
Should you say:" Oh, that fine I just need what I ordered at this time please, nothing extra..." rep will get mad and your price will increase for $30 to cover "shipping insurance"
I have Ordered Canon SX 10 for $335
once I declined buying 1 hour battery - I have been told that the total for the order with insurance will be $365 ....
I feel bad now that those people have my information (credit card number) - never know what they could do with that.
Another observation: no order tracking in my account once the order placed you have no way to go back and check the details

"My experience with Photo Loon echoed about half of the reviews posted here. After days and days of price and product research, I decided to try purchasing a Canon T1i and Tamron lens from Photo Loon because the prices were just so much lower than other sites. I placed my order online -- being very weary about other people's complaints about phone orders (i.e. customer service reps hiking up prices over the phone, charging hidden service fees, insurance, etc.) On the last page of the order, something failed and I couldn't tell if the order had gone through. I called the next day to verify, and all the predictions came true.
The total of my order online was about $1260. The phone rep told me that I had forgotten to include a battery in my order. I said I didn't want one, and he said it was a necessary part of the camera package -- obviously not true. He was initially trying to make it sound like the extra battery was included for free, but after a lot of racket where he tried to sell me a $40 battery for $199, I convinced him to let it go. Then he told me I needed filters, which I also had to fight with him about. Finally, he said that I was obligated to purchase the shipping insurance, which would bring my total up to $1480, but he was willing to give me a "deal" and give it to me for $1350. I asked what kind of shipping insurance costs $90, and he said that I have to buy it because FedEx requires it, and otherwise I'm completely liable for the camera if it gets lost. That I would lose all my money and they wouldn't even be able to help me for 6 months. At this point, he was almost yelling at me. He said the following text on the website should have let me know that I needed to purchase the insurance: "Free shipping does not include shipping insurance. There may be an additional insurance charge." I told him I didn't like his volume or his attitude, and that I wanted to decline the insurance. He went to talk to his manager, and a few minutes later came back to say they could offer me the insurance for the low price of $30, a $170 savings from the standard insurance rate. At this point, I was completely sketched out, and asked to talk to a manager. He hung up on me.
I called back to cancel my order because I had NO desire to support this kind of ramshackle business. That customer service rep was perfectly helpful and sent me a cancellation confirmation right away. But the damage was done and I was way too sketched out to deal with them. "

"I received the camera without the original manual but with a black and white photocopied manual instead. I called several times to report the problem but was never successful to get through to customer service no matter how long I waited on the phone until I get disconnected. I would like to get your response prior to having to dispute the transaction through my credit card.
