I wanted/needed a new PC and after speaking with friends in related fields I decided to get a PC with a SSD and good processing and upgradability so that I’ll have it for a while. I was surprised at how few options there were for a SSD machine “off the rack” from the major manufacturers. I then went shopping for a custom builder, most for gaming PC’s.

My past experience with gaming companies was HORRENDOUS. I once dealt with one that offered “Power” and found out that they offer nothing but shoving components in a mean looking box with lots of liquid and glowing lights. DO NOT go to these con-men.

I also never felt good ordering from the majors – Dell, HP, etc. It was always a cold experience throughout the order with no personal attention to specific questions, and follow-up that was almost always a chase on my part.

I recently found Puget Systems. I was a bit skeptical at first. It seemed like a company that really KNEW what they were selling and not only gave the advantages of components but also the pitfalls and conflicts. THAT alone was refreshing. The amount of available data on each component was staggering. Puget did the research work for me, or at least gave a great start.

I put my machine together and was immediately contacted by Wilson who answered a few quick questions I had on the system. He invited me to have him call me when I was available to discuss some options as it’s easier to talk about things than to type. Wilson reviewed my choices and worked with me to better match my budget by eliminating options that were too much for my needs and utilizing components that would cost less and perform just as well. VERY impressive! The call was extremely courteous and professional. I asked about a new chip that was coming out and he said I may want to wait on placing my order until it is out in a few weeks and he’d let me know when. He emailed me the day it passed testing at Puget and sent me a link to the results. Back and forth I asked what would be a better option and he presented me with all the information to get either chip (I went with the last generation tried and true reliable one).

As for cost, Puget Systems easily comes in at the price I’d have paid to a major label but the Puget service is priceless and worth the purchase.

After purchasing the system, I was blown away by the follow up of testing and progress reports that were available to me including pics of the machine - thermal pics too. The same with shipping - MAPPED progress reports on the Puget site, NOT the shipper.

When the machine came, I had a few minor things I couldn't install properly and called Puget Tech. The guys were there instantly, took control of my machine, fixed the problem which they said they hadn't encountered before and didn't brush me off saying they couldn't help because it wasn't their component. OH, I LOVE THESE GUYS.

As of this writing, I can say that this is a company that cares about its customers. And they offer a lifetime technical support and labor warranty. Where are the big guys on that??? In that case, there is NO bigger computer company than Puget Systems. I will buy from them whenever I need services that they can provide, and would tell ANYONE to do the same. If they only made cars. Puget Motors!

I have yet to receive or use the computer but the whole process up to this point has been outstanding. Because of their excellent service and help in building my laptop I have recommended them to my colleagues at my university as well as my graduate students. The only problem is that they are in the US and I am in Canada. They should open a satellite business in Vancouver and bring their professionalism to North of the border. A very helpful staff and informative website that allows you to track in detail the assembly of your computer.

"Purchased an Obsidian system from Puget Systems recently. It works well, is fast, and so quiet I can hear hummingbirds outside the window. I am very happy with my purchase. The noise level of the computer is nonexistent, which makes my work environment much less stressful. Speakers not competing with fan noise and if silence is needed to concentrate, it is silent.

One of the quietest high-end gaming machines I've never seen - I had to check to make sure all the fans were functioning. Gaming-wise, it handles everything I can throw at it without a blink, and having my first-ever SSD as a system drive is a revelation (35 sec. from power-up to desktop with everything fully loaded). And even though I witnessed a bit of rough handling by FedEx when we went to pick up the unit at the warehouse, everything was in perfect shape right out of the box.
