"BE AWARE - Bait and Switch is their selling method - I went to their website and ordered a Sharp Aquos TV that was listed at a good price. A few days later I got a call to verify my order and was advised that i ordered a commercial version of the TV. Totally ridiculous but they wanted $1000 more than the price on their website, I told them to cancel and they lowered it to $500.00 extra for the exact TV that I ordered. This seems to be their way of selling. I went for it but got nervous when i read some of the other reviews.
UPDATE:
Got the TV and it was Brand new and even the packaging was perfect. A lot of stress but i got the TV I wanted for a very fair price. It probably would have been ugly if there was something wrong with the TV. You may want to consider that risk when looking to get the best price from this vendor."
"My experience with Bigboxsuperstore was exactly what I expected. Service was excellent."
"Best price on a new Samsung tv I could find. Everything went very smoothly."
"I saved a bundle and everything was handled excellently!"
"I am very happy with my purchase. Price was right and no issues with delivery. Highly recommended! "
"What a disaster. I ordered a sharp 70" TV for my new media room at an online price of $2009. I got multiple emails shortly thereafter to contact Bigboxsuperstore for an issue with my order. When I called I was told what I ordered was a "commercial" version of the TV and not the "residential" version. This was not displayed anywhere in the advertisement I saw online. Since the version I ordered was not what I would see at a local retailer (It would be more basic, picture not as nice, not as many connectors or components) I should upgrade to the "residential" version which was over $2500. I was basically told to upgrade my order or risk having an inferior TV. Talk about bait & Switch. I was also told that the Labor Day deal which included a wall mount and HDMI cable had expired, so I cannot get those for free any longer. They did offer discount my final purchase price to $2499 which softened the blow a bit, but I still end up paying almost $500 more for what was advertised online!
It gets worse….
By the time I received my package the configuration of our media room had changed and the TV would not work for us. I had confirmed in advance that I could return the TV if I paid shipping which would be a little over $300. Feeling dumb for not waiting until the media room was complete I nonetheless called and asked to return the TV. At that point I was told it would cost to return magically increased to $363 and I would be better served trying to sell the TV locally. So I put it on craigslist, facebook and emailed numerous friends but how many people want to spend $2500 on a TV? Needless to say it did not sell, so I called back and asked to return the item. This time I was told shipping would cost over $700. What a joke. Yet another story from a customer service person, different from all the rest but in the end, I get the run around and they keep my money.
In summation, every time I called and spoke to someone I was given different price points and information such that nothing was consistent. Finally, in frustration I called some other companies with online pricing similar to bigboxsuperstore.com. Several told me they had heard about similar bait & switch tactics and more than one confirmed with me that the average shipping cost for a 70” TV should run around $240 not $365. I was taken advantage of and everyone needs to know that this company is dishonest and misleading."
"I had spent months searching for a 55" Samsung Smart 35 TV but wasn't willing to fork over $3000.00 for it, nor did I want a refurbished or returned model. Bigboxsuperstore.com was the answer. I was able to purchase a 65" with all the bells and whistles for much less than my local retailers where charging for a smaller screen. I saved a ton on money, and if their prices stay as good as they are. I'll be returning. "
"Ordered a Samsung 55" Series 8 Smart TV. Pricing was significantly less than competitors and the product arrived as stated on the requested delivery date."
"yes i would buy from this store again"
"Great smart TV, quick delivery, everything was as advertised. Would recommend Big Box Superstore."
"Bigbox superstore delivered the item in a timely fashion for the price originally agreed upon. I did have to talk to two representatives to make sure the item was delivered without extra shipping costs. In the end I got the product I wanted for the price advertised."
"SCAM ARTISTS! STAY AWAY
Fake site. Advertised goods aren't in stock / refurbished and not new like website advertises. After you place an order you would get a phone call informing you that whatever you purchased is actually not available, but the same exact thing would cost you $X more! Bait and switch for sure. If you don't want to pay more - your order is cancelled! SCAM ARTISTS! STAY AWAY"
"I bought the Samsung UN55F9000 55" Series 9 LED 4K Ultra HDTV on Monday checking out with free shipping which was offered as ONE of THREE shipping options for this purchase. The item listing showed a free shipping icon which was also listed in the banner of the site which when selected, outlined the terms of shipping (with no mention of any sizing caps). Within an hour or so I received a call from a BBS asking whether my shipping address was listed with the credit card. I stated that it is not per se as my billing address is different but I ship all my signature-direct purchases made on that card to this address with no problem. I was instructed to call my cc and add (?) the address. I said "Umm uhh ok?! Will do. Is there anything else I need to do?" the person on the other line said, "Actually yes, there is a $350 shipping insurance fee (?) which needs to be paid before your order ships." I stated that I have opted in for a free shipping, the BBS rep stated that it is not available for tvs above 46in and that I should have seen that on their site when checking out. While on the phone, I went onto BBS' site and went back to the item listing and order page asking where exactly was that stated, the BBS told me that its in Terms and Conditions page which is a link listed in the very footer of the first page, in small in print in disclaimer section, under "Corporate Info" (i.e. impossible to find, nor should a customer ever have to look there for anything related to their shipping). Let's all be clear: that terms and conditions link is NOT a sufficient notice of additional fees per fair business practices. At that time, I was told that the best BBS could do was bring down the insurance fee from $360 to $280, I replied that it was too late for them to shift the burden of additional shipping and insurance onto me as the order has been placed and we have entered into a binding purchase transaction. I was told that the rep was not there to "argue with me" and that TV will not be shipped and that if I will not pay the additional fee the order will be cancelled (complete extortion)...I finished the call and I did my own shipping costs research. I contacted FedEx which quoted me $144 for shipping of the tv (based on the specs from the BBS site) and insurance in excess of the selling price. I called BBS and asked whether they ship via FedEx the person in sales/shipping replied "Yes". I then explained that I would like to provide a shipping label at my cost to BBS with proof of insurance (which was persistently explained to me as the main concern and reason for additional fees) to ship the tv, which FedEx would pick up from their warehouse. I was told that, even thou FedEx is their carrier, BBS will not accommodate that resolution and that my only option was to pay $280 (twice the shipping and insurance cost of FedEx) for the tv I ALREADY purchased to be released to me. The BBS rep would not explain why would BBS not honor that resolution, it was a simple and plain "No." I attempted to reason with the person further and seek other shipping options, there was no reasoning permitted. I ended up cancelling my order.
*****AUGUST 21, 2014 UPDATE: Eric from BBS contacted me shortly after posting this review stating that he would like to resolve my concerns related to shipping. He said that BBS would accept my shipping label. I have created one and forwarded to BBS, they acknowledged the receipt. Eric also upgraded my mounting bracket to an ultra slim one in an effort to bring up my 1 star rating to a 4 star rating. My order is to ship today. "
""My experience with BigBoxSuperStore was great. I purchased a Samsung un78hu9000, the price at best buy is listed at $8000.00 before tax, I paid $6200.00 shipped and insured, saving over $1800.00!!!
So yes, you do have to pay an extra charge for shipping insurance but WHO CARES when you are saving all that money!!
BigBox had the best price online and the TV is indeed brand new factory sealed, other places I called were telling me the it was a commercial TV (which according to them doesn't have everything the regular one does.) and if I wanted the residential one I would have to pay a lot more + the shipping insurance.
BigBox delivered what they promised, customer service was great, I received an email confirmation the same day I purchased and another one the next day saying my order had shipped with the tracking number. I received my TV only 4 days later!! The shipping company called me before to schedule the delivery and delivered through the first door of my house. TV was in perfect condition, I got the wall mount and hdmi cable with it for free. I have the manufactures warranty on it ( I actually called Samsung after I received the TV and they verified it has the warranty.) and I love my new TV."
I will definitely order from them again and I will tell all my friends about them."
"TV arrived on schedule, the box was in great shape, and the TV looks amazing."
