"I saw a good price on a new camera and thought I'd take a chance. BOY was that a mistake. Pushy salesmen using out right lies to sell you things you don't need for way more than they're worth. On top of that they charge a hidden shipping and processing fee, despite advertised free shipping. And on top of THAT the camera wasn't even in stock despite the site saying that it was in stock ready to ship. After waiting 2 weeks for a tracking number, I called and was told there was a delay because of the Tsunami in Japan! Absolutely horrid business model. Avoid these scammers like the plague!!!!
UPDATE: After a few phone calls, they admitted to making a mistake and gave me a full refund. "

"I ordered a Nikon D300S from internet advertising but over the phone from Ryther Camera on Monday, March 14, 2011. I paid for 3 day shipping. On Thursday March 17 I called as I had not received a tracking number. The quick shipping was necessary as I was leaving on vacation the next week. The shipment left Ryther Thursday and arrived before 2PM Friday March 18th on the west coast as they had promised. I respect their diligence in meeting my deadline. I would recommend them to anyone. "I ordered a Canon EOS 7D camera body only with the "USA kit" meaning the Canon USA warranty. Paid extra for that. Asked for a factory sealed carton and was assured that is the only way they sell cameras by the Ryther sales person I spoke to and placed the order with. What I got was a EOS 7D camera kit that supposedly contained a Canon EF 28-135 mmm lens. And the carton was NOT factory or sealed in any other way. First thought was that they sent out the wrong order. Silly me. When I opened the carton it only contained the camera body and included accessories. The lens was removed from the box. I was also expecting the Canon USA warranty card in the box. The mail in portion of the warranty was torn off of the customer copy portion. Also the parts bag was ripped open and looks like the lens instructions removed. Everything else looked like it was there in the box. I registered the warranty online and luckily Canon has not informed me yet that the camera body I registered is not one covered by the Canon USA warranty. Had I been informed of that the next persons Ryther Camera would have heard from would have been the NYS as well as the NJ AG's offices as well as the FTC and NJ BBB. The items in the box don't look like they had been used or opened. During the camera setup it appears the shutter release counter was still at zero as well. You can't reset that value from the camera menu or the included software. Don't know if it can be done in a hack. So far I am happy with the camera.
Received a call from Ryther Camera (Kevin)the day after I wrote the review above as a follow-up. He apologized for not being happy with the way the camera was shipped. He explained that they were out of stock of just the camera bodies during the holidays, so rather than put my order on back order, they had a number of body and lens kits. To fill my order they took the lens out of one of those kits and sent the rest of the box to fill my order. He assured me that the camera was brand new and never used. I would think Canon USA would have gotten back to me by now if the camera wasn't covered by their warranty as they do for a grey market camera. "
