"I was checking PC building forums to get advice on building my next computer, and Scan's name was mentioned on several sites. I had never used them before but decided to give them a try based on these recommendations - I was certainly not disappointed. I found their prices, customer service, range of products and technical know-how were all outstanding, and I would certainly use them again with confidence thanks to the great service I received. I would recommend them to anyone looking for very competively priced computer hardware."
"I have to be honest, my company avoided using Scan Computers as a supplier after several unfavourable reviews in certain computer magazines over a year ago.
We decided to give Scan a try as our current supplier has no telephone number and several orders were delayed because of this.
On looking at Scan's site we found that not only were their prices, for the most part, much cheaper than our current supplier, but cheaper than a lot of other sites we frequent when looking for good deals on hardware and software. They also had better stock levels than most supplies too.
I placed an order, and the order went straight through and the goods arrived the next day as promised. One of the items ordered was £100 cheaper than the recommended supplier's price! Other supplier = £250, Scan = £150. That's a BIG difference in anyone's money.
The second order encountered a security check. I was contacted that day by an operative from the company who proved to be helpful and polite beyond what is normally expected from a cut-price supplier. The security check completed, the order was then duly processed efficiently.
Since then I have ordered many other items from Scan, in stock and out of stock, at all times I have been kept advised by the company as to the progress of my orders by emails and telephone contact.
I realise that not everyone will always have a positive experience with any company, but my personal experience with Scan over this past month has led me to feel that whatever happens with an order, they are genuinely trying to give you the best service posible without compromising on price (or that all-important telephone contact number!)."
"Scan are a great company to do on-line trading with. I've been watching their site for a few years and only now, have I taken the plunge...basically because you would be silly not to take advantage of their excellent deals! In particular the 'Today Only' & 'Mix-it' pages. 5 star without reservation...try them, you will not be disappointed :-) And no, I don't work for them.

"Bought a SFF base system and other assorted bits.
When I got the base system, I realised scan had misdescribed the system on their website.
Sent this back and was promptly charged £10 for postage. I ordered another base system after checking it had the function I needed (SATA).
When I got the second system, I found it had an intermittant fault - the bios screen would sometimes appear, sometimes not on booting, but I could never get it to boot past the bios screen. So I phoned to send it back. I enquired whether or not the money for the first system had been refunded. I was then told I had been charged a 25% restocking fee for missing parts - a heat sink and software. Given the fact I had to screw the heat sink back into the motherboard, something I distinctly remember doing (I also have witnesses) and that I could have no possible use for proprietary software or heatsink for a machine which I didn't own, this didn't make sense, but they refused to give me a full refund.
They also found "nothing wrong" with the base system, CPU or memory that I returned. Given that the fault I observed was intermittent, the fact that I am a computer professional, and the fact that I have been building PCs for 14 years, I again found this hard to believe.
In total, I have lost:
£30 in wasted postage.
£20 in wasted testing fees.
£38 (approx.) in so called restocking fees.
If then find "parts missing" on the other returns too, I will have lost around £170 pounds to these guys.
My advice - steer well clear."
"I found the web site easy to navigate, the prices for the products I purchased compared with all others I visited were astonishing (cheap)and delivery was very fast indeed ordered wednesday evening 29/11/04 at my door 08.45 friday morning.
Thank you Scan OUTSTANDING SERVICE.
I might add I've never written comments good or bad before,But felt in this instance I must.

"Since I have been using Scan.co.uk for almost a year, I wish to add how pleased I have been with their efficient service. Indeed, recently I have noticed that they have improved their website and I have congratulated them on such a brilliant transaction screen which I found extremely "user-friendly"! Their service has been very efficient and highly dependable. 10 out of 10 for service from me."
"I have used Scan (UK) on a regular basis, and in most part have received a very good service which has been both quick and efficient..
On my last order an item was deemed out of stock and was emailed immediatly of the problem. I responded with an alternative item as the original was on back order without a manifacturers lead time. My contact in customer services (Martin) at Scan I have found to be both knowledgeable and effecient, a pleasure to deal with a company who puts a high degree of importance in Customer services."
"Totally impressed with Scan. Found their link via a post at ebuyer, and scan were cheaper, had stock and their site was a joy to use. For the first time in ages, i actually mailed a compliment to them. The invoice was generated, complete with my IP address (nice touch) and they seem a really friendly bunch. Even their site sponsors a great (superb Indian recipe site was also bookmarked). Will be moving my comapny spend and account to them ASAP. Highly recommended."
"Lets begin at the beginning. If I ever have to buy more computer components, I will definitely be on Scan's website for them. I may even be bold enough to go in there as it's only 45 miles from me. Speaking of the website, FANTASTIC. Well laid out, easy to use, quick to change component type (mobo, ram, etc) as they're all across the top and they remain there no matter what screen you're on. A pleasure to shop with. My last order (23rd Aug) was for a couple of components (MB, DDR Ram, Ram for my laptop also) and the order couldn't have been quicker. But then my memory kicked in and I had forgotten something. I called Scan minutes after ordering online, and spoke to a top girl who I shall call "R". She took my invoice number and found the order, added the wireless network card for my laptop which I should have ordered but forgot, and again minutes later I was sorted. Excellent service, VERY helpful and friendly staff whom from past experiences I can tell you are very knowledgable. An excellent company - I will be ordering off them again without question."
"SCAN thats the word,remember it.
Customer services par excellence, particularily if you are fortunate to deal with "ROXANE" nothing to much trouble, take care Scan, you have a "Rooney" in your midst.
Thanks and regards kiddo, you deserve the plaudits."
"I ordered a new motherboard, Ram, DVD drive and CPU from Scan. I accidentally ordered the wrong chip(it was on the line above the one I wanted), but when I phoned up the next day they were more than alright about changing it (I can't remember who I spoke to that day, but it was very friendly).
Unfortunately, I didn't get any emails to let me know what was happening and the online system hadn't progressed past payment. One phone call later and Roxane @ Scan had sorted it all out, taking new details and processing the payment immediately.
Again, unfortunately, I did not get any more emails that day or night to let me know my order had been dispatched. So I phoned again, and once more Roxane got on with sorting it out.
My package is due to arrive tomorrow and I feel certain it will, but even if it doesn't I must give Kudos to this company for their customer service. Roxane has been most helpful, not at all like other online service companyies(no names, but DABS!).
Prices were pretty good as well.
Thanks Roxane. You've restored my faith in ordering PC parts online."
"I've purchased goods from Scan for many years, long before they moved to the modern warehouse at Middlebrook, Bolton. Yes I've had the odd faulty item but I've received nothing but first class service from them. On my latest order I purchased a Belkin Wireless/ADSL Modem/Router. It went faulty yesterday (17 May) about six-weeks later. The wireless networking didn't while everything else worked fine. Three emails later (with replies usually within an hour or so) resulted in a telephone call from Shelley Raja the Scan MD. 'Sorry you've had problems, we'll ship a replavcement tomorrow' was the result. Now I may be lucky or the majority of satisfied customers don't bother to tell you so; I suspect the latter. The only grumble I ever have with Scan is the big queue at the front desk's waiting to place orders, and they are usually returning customers. I know as I usually speak to the ones in front and behind me!! Come on all you satisfied customers of Scan International, give 'em some support.

"Bought motherboard and several other parts from Scan International. The system when assembled would periodically refuse to boot. Asked Scan for a RMA number and they told me to send it back to them.
Sent it all back special delivery as they state that proof of delivery may be required but don't actually say whether it is or not. I queried them about the charges and they said that actually somebody should have organised a pickup even though the original form email stated that I should send it to them.
They then test the faulty components and say that nothing is wrong and I will have to pay a £10 ex VAT return delivery and a £10 ex VAT handling fee before I can get the faulty hardware back. I've written off that hardware and am purchasing new parts from another supplier. I have sent off the return fee as otherwise Scan will probably send the broken hardware back out to some other customer as a replacement.
Buyer beware. They may be cheap but their technical staff will only do the most rudimentary tests before declaring everything to be working fine and charging you £23.50 for the priviledge. If the hardware works then great, Scan is cheap. If it's broken then just chuck it in the bin. It'll save you £23.50

"i ordered a kiss dp-500 dvd player from scan.co.uk. it turned out to be faulty so i returned it back to them. they tested it and told me they couldnt find a fault with it. i told them again what the problem was and they agreed to retest it. again, they never found a fault. so by this point, a month on, without a dvd player and without my money, i decided that i wuold send them a dvd that i was having problems with. certain that they would eventually find the problem, i was very annoyed to find out that they claimed there was no problem with it for the 4th time.
they have an online function wherby the customer can check the status of a returned item. when i sent them my presonal dvd to test, the engineer had checked the box to indicate that a fault had been found. i called them to get me money back and the guy on the other side told me that they couldnt return my money as the testing had not been completed. five minutes after speaking with the person, i checked the status online again and that "fault found" check box had been cleared and a description saying no problem had been found.
the two options i now is to pay £10 for delivery and an extra £15 for testing fee to get the same dvd player back (not even a replacent) or 20% for restocking fee if i want the refund. on top, ive been getting emails from them saying that they will auction it off. i am determined to get my money back, so i will be talking to the people down at trading standards to see what they will make of it.
i have never dealt with a retailer so rude and as unprofessional as scan.co.uk and i would advise anyone to stay away. "
"Been good customer with Scan for many years now, and it's definitely where I have spent the most money on anything to do with computers. In the past all problems have been dealt with satisfactorily. Small anoyances with customer service has been an issue, and packaging has been suspect. But, over all Scan is a trustworthy company, the website has improved vastly (brilliant in its current form, seeing as you couldn't even make online purchase in the first version!). Over the years they have really ironed out their faults.
This latest order saw some goods delivery being late, I was informed consistantly every week. After 2 weeks I called up to check what was up. Customer service was curtious, response was prompt, they even offered to withdraw the delivery charge. I would say this company shows a management that understands the word "development".
The price is on the low side, the product variation and quality is great, I would say it's mid way between a gamer's store and a business store... between Dabs and Overclockers. But with a vision and practice that exceeds both. Excellent!
P.S. "today only" is amazing!"
