"WOW!!!! I PLACED AN ORDER AFTER READING ALL THIS ABOUT THIS COMPANY AND EVERYTHING TALKED ABOUT HERE WAS EXPERIENCED BY ME WHEN DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY. I ORIGINALLY PLACED AN ORDER VIA THE INTERNET FOR THE CANON D40 PACKAGE #8, BUT WHEN I RECIEVED A CALL FROM THE COMPANY TO "CONFIRM" MY ORDER THEY WERE TRYING THEIR HARDEST TO SELL ME A PACKAGE ALMOST $500 MORE THEN THE ONE I WANTED. AND WHEN I CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE BACK TO CANCEL MY ORDER I WAS TRANSFERRED TO A RECORDING STATING THAT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CLOSED...AND I WAS CALLING WELL PAST THEIR OPENING TIME???? BUT WHEN I CALLED BACK AND REQUESTED TO "CONFIRM" AN ORDER I WAS IMMEDIATELY TRANSFERRED TO WAITING LINE....HMMMMM??? AND WHEN I FINALLY GOT IN CONTACT WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP THEY TELL ME THAT THE DEPT I NEED TO CANCEL THE ORDER WAS CLOSED RIGHT NOW AND THAT I NEEDED TO CALL BACK IN 20 MINS!! HUH??!!! THIS COMPANY IS DEFINATELY A SCAM ARTIST...LIKE PEOPLE SAID HERE, THEY ARE SELLING ITEMS THAT SHOUILD BE INCLUDED WITH THESE PACKAGES(BATTERY AND CHARGER) AND THEY TELL YOU STUFF LIKE "THE CANON THAT COST LESS IS MADE OF PLASTIC BODY, BUT THE MORE EXPENSIVE ONE IS MADE OF MAGNESIUM...AND THAT'S THE ONE BEING SOLD IN THE U.S." WHAT!!!??? LIKE PEOPLE HERE SAID...IF ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE...DON'T BUY!!!! I WENT AHEAD AND CANCELLED MY ORDER AND WENT TO A LOCAL BEST BUY....STAY AWAY FROM THESE COMPANIES ON THE INTERNET WITH CRAZY PRICES!!! THANKS FOR ALL THE OTHER WARNINGS..."

"My experience with this company was terrible. I ordered a Canon camera thinking I was getting a deal. I received a call to confirm the order and found myself talking to an argumentative sales rep who kept trying to push me into buying over-priced accessories. When I told him I was buying my accessories from a different company, we were suddenly "disconnected". I called back to get my order processed and the next person was equally argumentative and tried to pressure me into buying several items I didn't want and then I was told my order was going to be on "backorder" for 4 weeks because I wasn't buying the more expensive package. The guy on the phone tried to pressure me into buying a $1300 package, way more than I wanted to spend. I finally said I wanted to cancel my order and I hung up in frustration. I called back and was told the rep wasn't "authorized" to cancel my order. I was put on hold for 20 minutes and finally someone "agreed" to cancel my order and send me a confirmatory email. I immediately canceled my credit card and checked my email. Lo and behold, an hour later there was an email saying they were still charging my credit card and shipping out my order (the order that had been on backorder for 4 weeks just two hours earlier!!) Fortunately, I canceled my card in time! What slime balls! "

"DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS! I had the same problems everyone else had. I placed an order for a Canon camcorder thinking I had a great deal, only to find out the next day that bad things were to come! When I called to confirm the order, they tried to sell me a charger since it didn't come with one for $159 (available at Amazon for about $20) and a better battery ("you don't want to have the camera stop working in the middle of your recording, do you?") After declining multiple times and stating that I wanted to stick with my order, the "service" rep rudely said "Well if that's the way you want it." So I thought I finally had the order confirmed. Over the next 2 days I received 4 emails telling me to call and confirm the order. I called to explain I already had confirmed, but was told this time that the package I had ordered was out of stock for a few weeks. But I was in luck- there was a better package available now for only $400 more! The rep was very argumentative when I accused him of upselling and baiting and switching.
So stay away! I'm also writing a hard copy letter to Canon stating that their reputation is also on the line. Everyone should write to the manufacturers about this company. If they don't have product, they can't stay in business!"

"I ordered a Sony HDR-SR12 Camcorder. Obviously, I checked online and their price was the cheapest. My first order with them was rejected because I did not pick any options. I then reordered with a Continental package which adds about $400 to the base price. They called me and said that they would change the order to change out certain items and the cost is now $1412. Now this is significantly higher than the base of $679 and $383 higher than my order of $1029. I asked that they still to my original order of $1029. The person who called named Michael was very rude and said that I would only get a camcorder with the shell, no color, etc. Someone needs to hold these online stores accountable for their cheating behavior."

I ordered a camera and a lens online Sunday, April 21.
After placing the order I was told they were on holiday and the order would not be filled until Tuesday. DISSAPPOINTMENT ONE
On Tuesday I was told to call to confirm my order before it shipped. Why? it was clear what I wanted and the order had been processed.STUPID ONE for not noticing a scam.
Upon calling the establishment to confirm my order I was told that the camera I ordered was the body only, had no manual or cables to enable it to be used and that it would be shipped from Asia and would not arrive for 3 weeks. DISSAPPOINTMENT TWO In order to get the camera's manual and cables and essential tools to operate the camera including the battery and receive it within 2-3 days I would have to pay $200 more. I reluctantly agreed. STUPID TWO I did not agree to all the other stuff he tried to sell me. I asked if I needed to sign for the delivery and I was assured I would not that they never ship expecting a signature. At the close of the conversation on Tuesday morning April 23 the gentlemen said he was filling the order that day and it would ship that afternoon. TWO DAYS AFTER I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL TAKEN CARE OF
Instead I got a notice 24 hours after that the order had JUST THEN shipped and that it's expected delivery was Tuesday, April 29 -- not the 2-3 delivery I thought I had requested. My STUPID THREE for not confirming.DISAPPOINTMENT THREE
Here it is today Tuesday, April 29 and the delivery that I thought I was getting by Thursday or Friday of last week is delayed further cuz guess what? - UPS needs a signature. DISAPPOINTMENT FOUR
The company gave a lost leader, a bait and switch, by advertising the camera at a substantially lower rate then making me call to confirm shipping only to tell me basically that I could not use the camera as advertised.
Shame on them for closing the store for religious observance and then treating people this way. How do they sleep at night? STAY AWAY - FAR FAR AWAY and how can all of us who have complained here on this site do something to close them down?

"This is the first time I have ever placed a online review of a company. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE I EXPERIENCED MOTIVATED ME TAKE THE TIME TO ENTER THIS REVIEW. I placed an order on Sat 26 April for a Canon EOS 40D camera with two Canon lenses, a 10-20mm, and a 28-135mm lens. I received a phone call today, Monday 28 April asking me to call and confirm my order. I thought this was strange since I placed the order and entered my billing information, as that should be confirmation enough. I called the sales rep (Michael) and waited 50 minutes on hold, and for my wait they offered to upgrade my UV lens filter "free of charge". Then the "don't you need a compact flash card?" line came and I explained that I had plenty, and then Michael tried to sell me the extended warranty, which I had declined. Michael then put the "what type of battery and charger do you want?" on the table. I asked if this was a brand new camera from the manufacturer and he replied "yes", I then explained that it should come with a battery and charger and if it didn't then that needed to be on the web site stating just that! After the discussion of getting a 5-hour battery for the price of a 2-hour battery I was on my last nerve and ready to cancel my order. The final blow was when Michael tried to get me to swap the 10-22mm Canon lens I ordered for a 10-20mm Sigma lens. I explained to him that had I wanted the Sigma lens I would have ordered it. I gave him a few choice words about his trying to "up sell" my chosen products, the waiting time to speak to a rep, the "batteries not included" BS, and that Sonic Cameras could take their "free UV filter" upgrade and shove it up their A$$! Oh, by the way...cancel my order. Well I don’t know if the order got cancelled as Michael hung up on me. So I sent an E-mail to Sonic Cameras stating that I spoke with a customer service rep to cancel my order and to send me E-mail confirmation of the cancellation.
I found this Web site when I came home frustrated with the phone conversation, as a face to face with Michael would have been a bit more fun! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! Look at the history, Customer service sucks!

"STAY AWAY!!! Don't believe the bogus good ratings the company is posting here!! Unfortunately, I made a purchase BEFORE googling there name. When I received the "dreaded" email requiring me to call them to "confirm my order", I knew exactly what type of store this is (BAIT AND SWITCH)!!! I fell for it a long time ago when I bought my first digital SLR, Never again!! I was so angry with myself for getting lured in again!! IF YOU ARE IN A SITUATION LIKE MINE AND ARE GOING TO CANCEL YOUR ORDER PRIOR TO THEM SENDING IT, FOLLOW MY STEPS FOR ACHIEVING A "HASSEL FREE CANCELLATION"! Obviously, from reading other posts, they can be very rude in a situation like this!
1. When you tell them you are cancelling your order and they say "why?" you simply say, My (enter significant other, even if you don't have one!) just saw my order I placed and he/she said they already bought me it and was hiding it to give as my B-day present this weekend!! The guy didn't even flinch! In a happy tone, he said "Oh! Well I'll go ahead and cancel your order then, sir!" Worked like a charm!
2. If this does not work and they try to charge a "restock" fee, it is illegal for them to do so! It says on there site, they only charge a restock fee if the item has ALREADY been shipped.

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Do not order anything from this company. They are liars and scam artists. They are a bait and switch company. we ordered a lens from them and did recieve a lens, but of course the wrong one which cost less than half the price of the one we ordered. Upon calling them for a return authorisation, they said that we were too late (2 business days after recieving the order!), then said they would restock it if we PUT A MONEY ORDER FOR 35% IN THE BOX!!! We said no and they said they would not give us the reutrn authorisation. They went so far as to claim they had a recording that we agreed to try the lens. We did not, as a matter of fact we called back to confirm that they sent the correct lens, which they falsely claimed they had.
They have been running this scam for over 7 years. They have been sued by the state of New Jersey. They have 500 or so negative comments on the New York BBB web site in the last 12 months. And on and on.
Beware Sonic Cameras, and any of their associated companies (read other names they have used to pull the same scam). These include Broadway Photo, Photo Addict, Best Price Camera, Infiniti Camera, Regency Camera, Razz Photo, and J&K Camera just to name a few.
Do a google search for soniccameras.com and you will find plenty of information on these liars, scumbags, thieves, or whatever you shoose to call them.
