"AVOID THIS SELLER
TOTAL "BAIT AND SWITCH"
THEN TELLS YOU THAT THE ITEM YOU WANT, AT THE LOW PRICE IS ON BACK ORDER FOR 8 WEEKS AND CANCELS ORDER"
"Look out for these guys!! First, I was baited and switched to a sigma lensI I didn't want. When I thought it over and called back and spoke with Jeremy to cancel the item, he started yelling at me and told me I have to accept the package first, then call them back to get a return UPS packing order, then pay a 10% reshelving fee!! They also put me on speaker phone without my knowledge and other people started yelling and insulting me. After their ranting for awhile they hung up on me. Well guess what? You don''t have to accept that kind of disservice or the package. My credit card company told me to call UPS and refuse the package, and then the credit card company will place the order into dispute as soon as it's posted. Boy, what jerks these people are, and what a fool I was to think I was getting a deal. "
"Deff. a SCAM. The usual, they called me the next day to get the 3 digit code on the back of my card and to "confirm" my order. Then theyt told me that the battery charger/AC cable was not included. This is not true, Panasonic always sends these on this type of camera. This company must open all packages, take everything out and try to sell them individually. I ended up spending almost $500 more to get a "better" camera that did come with these items and have yet to get a tracking # email as they told me i would, "shortly." Three days is not shortly. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE LOSERS!!!"
"THIS IS A SCAM! Dont ever buy anything from this company. They are rude and at the same time will throw a lot of sales tricks on you. I place an order of a XTi camera package for $ 549, but when I finished checking out I did'nt see any confirmation on my purchase, then I called them and they said the battery and charger are not included on the package which they can give me for $249 which cost only not more than $50 to other companies. NEVER EVER BUY from this company guys. and would research on how to shut this company down. it is not fair that they will have another victim on their rude, tricky and dirty sales tactics."
"This company is a scam. They use a bait and switch technique. They lure you in with a price that seems great. In fact it is too great. They will not ship the order until you "confirm". When you call, as I did the first time, you will get a rude person who will hang up on you. A day later when you get another email asking you to call and confirm your order you will once again get a rude person. Who sounds very knowledgeable and will tell you that they are getting a lot of returns on that flash you are trying to order. The base is bad and will not work half the time. But they have this great other flash the "digicam pro 952" that will "upgrade you to for free". "All the wedding photographers are using it". mmmm... really?? I replied "no thank you, I rather just order the Canon 430ex and I will just take my chances on whether or not Canon is selling a faulty product" The response, well we don't have any in stock. I asked why they took my order two days ago saying it was in stock and they replied that they sent me a email saying that it wasn’t. The only emails were that they needed to "confirm the order". Which really means we need to try and rip you off with some inferior piece of junk that cost us 5.00$ and no reputable company like B&H Photo would ever carry. Which by the way I am ordering my flash from. If it sounds too good to be true it most likely is. Stay away from this company and use a reputable one like Adorama or B&H"
"I attempted to place an order for a Rebel xti, and when they found I wanted the body only, they claimed it wasn't in stock. I asked when it would be in stock, they said "never" These are scammers, and I'd love to punch the s.o.b. out in person that I dealt with, RUDE!!!"
"I placed an order for a Canon VH30 camcorder on 4/10/08. I received a confirmation of my order and an order number via email shortly afterward. Later in the same day I received another email stating I needed to call sonic cameras to confirm my order before they would ship it. When I called the customer service rep was very rude and said my order had been cancelled and he promptly hung up on me. I called back and talked to an operator in a different department and was again told my camcorder was on back order and my order was cancelled and I would be sent an email when it was in stock. This customer service operator was also rude. They said my card was not charged. I called my credit card company and confirmed that Sonic Cameras had not charged my account. After dealing with the extremely poor customer support and checking out the bad company reviews, I changed my credit card number so I would not have to deal with Sonic Cameras in any way on this order. I buy many things on the internet but I have never dealt with a company this bad before!
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!"
"CROOKS! Believe everything you see about this company and run!!!
I made the HUGE mistake of not checking out this company first. No emails from them, high pressure sales people (aka scam artists/dishonest crooks), the packaging slip has no phone number and no address on it.
When I called for the required "return confirmation #" they were horrible. Daniel yelled at me, told me I was dishonest because there was no way I could have found it for cheaper locally and demanded to know exactly what I paid locally. When I calmly ignored his question and asked again for the # he said "Well I just asked you a question and you ignored me, see how you are? You're rude." I replied with it is not legal to hold hostage the return number and it is none of your business what I paid for for the other camera. He went nuts screaming at me about the law and you wanna talk law I'll tell you about the law. These guys are scary!!
Then I had to ship it next day to get it there in the 7 day time. When I went into the local shipping carrier, we found that they intentionally gave us wrong address so that the package couldn't arrive in time!!! The guy at the store couldn't believe it and said they are obviously shiesters!
I have already notified the bank about the situation and we are watching the account closely. These people need to be shut down. I've done hundreds of online transactions and this is the first bad one, but what a bad one it has been!"
"Scam, Scam, Scam! Praying on anyone not knowledgable in camera equipment. I placed an order for a Canon 24-105 lens for $699. (Normally $1000+) Prior to placing the order via internet, I had called to confirm availability. I also questioned the 1yr USA warranty. I was assured that they were in stock and that it was a Canon USA warranty. After placing the order, I wanted to return to their site to see where I could track the order. I googled to find their site but found this one. I wasn't necessarily shocked, rather, annoyed with myself for following through with the order when those little voices inside knew better. I cancelled my credit card. I Received multiple emails over the next 3 days requesting 'Call to confirm my order'. I was passed on to someone who started with requesting the security code for my credit card and then started a quiz to assess my photographic knowledge. After questioning his questions, I was wished a pleasant experience with my new lens that would be shipped that day. I received an email several hours later stating the order had been cancelled due to the lens being oversold as it was on back order for 6-8 weeks. He also stated my credit card was not charged. Your damn right it wasn't!"
"I login just to let everyone know what is going on.
I have never bought anything from this company or others that show up with a very cheap price for various items, But since we should be suspicious of such offers I tend to check a lot. I found out that all companies listed in "ShopCartUSA" are a scam. Stay away.
They write their own review.
Exactly like the review of those two "Very Satisfied". They are fake!
Stay away from anything having to do with these companies.
Any good reviews are fake.
I know because I went thru about 80 pages of review and checked many that were exactly the same but from "different" customers.
Stay away."
"I placed an order for a Canon 430ex flash on March 17th. They began sending me daily emails to call & confirm the order for "security reasons". After I called, they tried to talk me into accepting another brand instead. When I refused, the salesman said he would ship it right out. Nothing ever arrived. When I just inquired, I found out they never even had the Canon in stock. I sure hope they didn't charge my credit card!"
"Do not do any business with these people!! I wish I would have seen this site before I ordered from them.
I was looking for a Nikon 70-300 VR lens and found one they had listed for $349.00. I got the same story that everyone else on this site has written about. Scroll down to Kaydon7 and read his story. Mine is exactly like his except I wanted a Nikon lens instead of a Canon lens.
I sent the Sigma 70-300 lens back and I did get a Nikon 55-200VR lens that they have listed at $399 but you can find all day long on the internet from respectable dealers for $220 so at least I did get a Nikon lens but not the one I wanted or paid for. I spent close to $500 total counting all my shipping charges for a two hundred dollar lens. I could have spent the same amount somewhere else and got the lens I wanted. I guess thats how they can call their operation "legal" because you end up settling for a lesser lens that they have advertised for a higher price and you have to settle for that just to be done with them!
Talk about a bunch of jerks! Stay away! Stay away! Stay far far away!
By the way, did I say STAY AWAY?
"
"I was shopping around for a Nikon D300 and found one for an incredible price of 999$ at Sonic Cameras website.
I ordered the body first and got an email stating that it was "on back order" and that my order was cancelled.
I ordered the body together with a 18-135mm Nikkor lens and got an email to call Sonice to "verbally confirm":
"This email is to confirm receipt of your online order with us. For your security, please call us at 1-***-***-****, Option 1 to provide a verbal confirmation so that we can ship out your order. If you have already called and confirmed your order, you may disregard this request."
I called and after waiting for about 20 min got a sales agent telling me all the crap that I needed an additional charger and battery and so forth. Didn't need one though, so the sales rep pulled out his "plastic body or magnesium body - the plastic body is made in China?" question.
Obviously, Sonics site states nothing about plastic in its online advertisement and Nikon has never ever made a plastic D300.
Be aware of Sonic Cameras and do not buy from them! They are trying to rip you off!"
"Long story short: Bait and Switch, Playing dumb act, abusive sales rep.
I was interested in buying a Nikon D300, normally $1800 during a search I found one for $999 through Sonic Cameras. I thought hmm, kinda cheap. However after reviewing their site (should have googled "sonic camera" first) I placed an order for a D300, a 18-200mm lens, and a canon powershot A720 IS. The total came to about $1700. Placed the order and got an email saying they needed me to call to verify the order. I did and got bounced between 3-4 people before a man whom called himself Josh Peterman said he wanted to confirm what I was ordering.
He asked for my name and order number, then asked for my security code from my credit card, I was wondering why the website didn't ask me that.
The first thing he hit me with was a memory card. He asked if I needed a memory card for the camera. I said no, I already have several. He asked again, I said no. He asked if I was sure and I said yes I am sure.
The second thing he hit me with was asking if I wanted the 2 hour or the 4 hour battery with my camera. I asked him if that was in addition to the battery that was supposed to come with the camera. He paused and said no battery came with the camera. I asked him how much the 2 hour battery was and he said 1 9 9. I asked if that was $1.99 and he laughed, paused, the said no, $199. Direct from nikon those are only about $50. I said no, and he reminded me I need a battery for the camera to work. I said no again. He then said he noticed I picked the plastic body D300. To my knowledge there is no plastic body D300. I confirmed he said plastic, and he said yes, this is the plastic one. If you want the magnesium alloy body that is $1700 and comes with a battery and charger.
I asked for his name and told him I would call him back soon, he said it was Josh. I went and checked the website, the price had dropped from $999 to $936. Under Features it stated it was a rugged magnesium alloy body... for $936. I called back and asked for him. I told him the website said it was metal alloy for $936 now. He said no, that is the plastic one, if I want the metal alloy it is $1700. I told him I printed the page out and was looking at it. He cut me off and demanded I tell him this instant if I want the plastic or metal for $1700.
I tried to repeat myself only to be cut off again. He started yelling "Hello, is anyone there, hello? Do you want the plastic or metal? Hello? Simple question hello?" into the phone. Once again I tried explaining the website. He snapped and said he knows what the website says, he works for the company and it says it is plastic for that price. He demanded I specify plastic or metal. I told him I want what the website says, metal alloy for $936.
He said "Sir, there is no metal alloy for $936. Do you want the cheap plastic one or the metal one?". I asked for his whole name and he started the whole hello anyone home thing again. Finally he screamed Peterman into the phone, Josh Peterman, then continued to ask Plastic or Metal, over and over. He must have repeated those two words five to six times. I finally told him to cancel my order. In shock he said "You want to cancel your order? Your whole order? You want it canceled?", I said Yes and he said, ok fine, it is canceled, you will be emailed.
I hung up and promptly called my bank and had my debt card number deleted. It will be a pain paying bills this month but at least they will get no money from me.
I've learned my lesson, I will stick with companies that have been around for a few years and offer realistic prices. Live and learn.
"
"First of all, I wanted to write after I read all of the reviews stating that this was not a "real business" and they will probably "close and reopen under another name", that I actually first ordered from a company called "Best Price Cameras" whose website is set up exactly the same, down to the wording! And when I called Best Price Cameras to ask where my camera was, they answered the phone "How can I help you?" and didn't give the company name or their name! (Just like Sonic Cameras!) I was transferred to at least 7 different people and placed on hold for over 17 minutes because I didn't have my order # - BECAUSE THEY NEVER SENT ME A CONFIRMATION EMAIL! I finally go to talk to someone and they told me that it would take 6 weeks for the camera to be delivered. I was very disappointed, but waited. After 7 weeks, I called back, (with my order #) and asked for the status of my order. The rep stated that the order had been cancelled!!! I told them that I didn't cancel the order and it had been OVER 6 weeks! Wasn't someone going to let me know?? He replied: "We e-mailed you, like, 20 times!" I asked when they emailed me. He said "today." I asked him when they supposedly sent the first email. He said March 14. I advised him I had received no email. (This was on March 27). I asked why it was cancelled. He said that they weren't able to get that product anymore! He didn't even apologize, and I was furious!
I started looking around on the internet and called back to ask what flash I had ordered so I could get the same one somewhere else. He told me, then asked why I had cancelled my order. I advised him that I didn't cancel my order, they did, because they didn't have that camera. He said, "Oh, we have that camera, we just don't have it available anymore without the battery and charger" (another $200!). I advised him that someone had tried to sell me the battery and charger one of the times I called and I declined and bought it on my own for about $40!
I originally placed an order for a Nikon SB-600 Flash through Sonic Cameras on March 28. I received an e-mail with an order #, then another email asking me to call and confirm the order. I called on March 31, and the rep asked me for the code on the back of my debit card. I thought this was weird, but I gave it to him. He then asked what camera I was buying this flash for. I advised him a Nikon D60 that I had ordered from Circuit City online. He stated that the flash I had ordered wasn't the best one for that camera, and tried to sell me a lower priced flash. I have to admit, I was impressed. I advised him that I was trying to purchase a flash that had a quick recycle speed as I will be using it to shoot weddings. He then recommended a Sigma Flash that was twice the cost of the first flash! I agreed to the purchase on the condition that he "hold" the order until Friday, when I get paid, because I didn't have the money in my account then. He said he could do this and that he would be sending me a new e-mail with a new order # in a few minutes.
Today is April 1st and I didn't have an email in my inbox from Sonic Cameras, so I called them. After being transferred about 6 times to 6 different rude people who kept placing me on hold (One rep asked if he could help me, I told him I was calling to get my order #, he replied "Order number?" I said yes, he said "What is it?" I told him that I WAS CALLING to GET IT. He said , "You need to relax yourself, ma'am"!), I finally spoke to someone who said that they would re-send the email.
I received the email within a few minutes, and, upon reading through it, descovered that they had billed my account TODAY! (Tuesday). I checked my bank account and, sure enough, my account was overdrawn.
I called Sonic Cameras back and explained to about 4 different people what had happened. Each one sounded annoyed and rude and transferred me to someone else. Finally I spoke to "Chris Andrews". I told him that the representative I spoke with yesterday assured me he would hold my order until Friday, but it had billed today. Chris stated "If you didn't have the money, why did you order it?" I told him that I called to confirm my order (for a lesser amount) and upgraded to a better flash and the rep had told me he wouldn't charge my account until Friday, April 4! Chris said, "We don't hold orders." I stated that if the rep had told me that, I wouldn't have ordered! I told him that I wouldn't place an order when I knew I didn't have that much money in my account! He placed me on hold, then came back on shortly, offering to "throw in 4 free batteries and a charger, which is listed on the website for $49.99." I told him I didn't want that, as I already have batteries, I wanted a partial refund for my Overdraft fee that I would be getting from my bank. He asked how much it was. I told him $30 initially then $5 a day until the account is not overdrawn anymore. He said "We can't do that." I asked him why not. He placed me on hold. When he came back on, he said that they would not refund the "$5 a day, but would credit me the original $30 overdraft fee." I knew that I was lucky to even get this, so didn't argue.
Shortly after, I received an e-mail invoice of the $30 credit being refunded to my bank account.
I can't wait to get my flash and be done with this company forever.
I would never order from this company again. They are shady and rude.
OMG! I just looked the same flash up on Google, and it turns out that I overpaid by about $70!!! And I originally went with this company because they had the cheapest price on THE ORIGINAL flash I ordered!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Guess that's what "Bait and Switch" means!
UPDATE:
I picked up my order from UPS. They charged me $10 for "Insurance". I asked the UPS rep about it, he said the insurance only cost like $3. So much for free shipping!"
