"!!!! Be Very careful !!!!!
Ordered a Sony CamCorder online and thought I got a very good deal. Went through the “normal” online order form and filled out the CreditCard information section. 2 Days later I received an email saying that my ordered item was on back order for additional 2-3 weeks. I was fine with that. 2 additional days later I received another email saying that the item is on back order for 6-8 weeks and the order was canceled and my CC was not charged. I should have canceled my CC.
One week later I received notification from my bank that my CC number was stolen and used in numerous transactions.
Go figure!!!!!!
From now on I will look up stores and companies here before buying anything online.
Thanks to this site!!!

"I agree with everyone when I say this store sucks!!! They haggle you into paying way more than what you wanted to after you call them to "confirm" your order and even lied to me and I busted him on it. Screw these guys!!! NEVER BUY FROM SONIC CAMERAS.!!!"
"I thought I had the deal of the century, Canon 40D with lens for $629. Wow!! Bragged about it to my coworkers who sent this link to me and told me about Sonics "bait and switch" method. Then I opened my email to find out that they wanted me to call them; that sent up a red flag. I called my MasterCard, made sure no charges had been filed, had them change number to reissue another card then called Sonic. The rep said that it was a good price, so I had to gig him alittle to find out what the gag was and he said well you'll have to buy a battery and a charger for it; second red flag went up. That tells me he'd been digging stuff out of the box to sell me at additional costs and I'm sure there would be more crap I'd have to buy that I didn't need or a restocking fee, yada yada yada. I told him to keep it because I canceled the CC anyway. It got quiet for a few seconds, then he said "okay I canceled your order" and hung up. I shook the manure off my feet on this one thanks to my weary coworkers. I guess I owe them some donuts!"
"Ordered Canon EF 70-200MM 2.8L IS USM Telephoto Lens for $1199.00, no tax, free S & H. Received call for three digit card# rear of credit card to process order. They attempted to sell accessories;declined. Asked type of camera;advised my camera not good for that lens and tried to sell me a Sigma lens for $1699/declined. Lowered price to $1199/declined. Next day email canceled order/oversold. Advised my credit card not charged. Scam. Had to cancel credit card as they had information. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ALLEGED VENDOR, SCAM ALL THE WAY. "
"These people are clearly some of the worst slimeballs you will ever deal with. The word dishonest doesn't even begin to describe them.
They have taken the bait and switch concept to a new low.
I ordered, through their website, a Nikon D300 with a Nikkor 18-200mm zoom for $500-600 less than B&H. They called me back to ask for the three digit number on the back of my card. Then I got the pitch about the plastic body and that it wasn't the magnesium US version. All the nomenclature and lcd info was in Chinese. Does not come with battery, etc. By the time I was through listening to their fast talk I had changed my order to an older model D40 with a way overpriced Sigma lens for the same price as the D300 and Nikkor lens.
Rethinking everything and realizing I was being scammed, I was able to cancel my card and the order the next day but not before I was subjected to this slimeball's insults and abuse. I heard about the re-stocking fee and all the rest of their garbage.
PLEASE - whatever you do, DO NOT buy anything from this place. If you do, I guarantee you will regret it."
"I was thinking of getting their great priced Canon D40 package for myself as a uni. graduation gift...no longer. Please, if you have been conned by this company contact the US Government. They love to go after business fraud (unless it is run by their friends). Here is a website with more info

"I ordered a Digital Rebel XTI from soniccameras.com on Sunday. On Monday I received the email that requested that I call them to confirm the order. I called them immediately and was asked for the security number from the back of my credit card. I had actually used a virtual card number provided by my credit card company. I logged onto my credit card site and got the number. After this I was told that I will need to order another battery for the camera because the one that it comes with only takes 20 pictures and it is not rechargeable. (???) I declined their $199.00 battery because I knew that I could purchase 8 batteries for this camera for this price. I was then told that I needed a different compact flash card because the one that comes with the package that I ordered is too slow. (???) This was on special for $29.95. I declined again knowing that I could purchase the card for less. At this point I made it very clear that all I wanted was what I had ordered the day before. The representative then told me that the total of the order was $469.00, $30.00 more than my original order. I questioned the difference and was told that the additional $30.00 was for insurance. I explained that I hadn't requested insurance and was told that this is a common fee. I told him to cancel the order and he stated that I was pretty bugged by this insurance. I advised that yes I was. He asked if I was familiar with insurance and I said that I was, but I didn't appreciate it being forced on me. He asked if I had a car and I stated that I did. He then said that insurance on a car is forced. I then explained to him that I needed a car, but I don't need this camera and told him again to cancel the order. Meanwhile I had cancelled the virtual account number that my credit card company had issued for the purchase. I consider myself fortunate that I don't have to cancel a credit card like others. Today, after fuming about this, I went back to their website and searched for anything that might indicate that they will charge mandatory insurance and low and behold there is nothing there. This is a RIP-OFF. "
"Hey Shopafool, you are really big fool! Maybe more than that, heh. Anyway, I insist on what I said! I ordered HDR-SR12 and I got in 5 days and I have already made a few home films. So again for that big fool shopafool. I live in Illinois and work for games company and If you think you have 6th sense to know me....you really dont have any! I am sorry about guys who wasnt that lucky as me, but my order was fine."
"Just happened to check this site before confirming my order. Glad I did. I found it odd that I had an e-mail asking me to confirm my order. I started the process with the guy and when he started asking to add on this and that and everything else I did not order, I asked him to cancel the order. TIDES TURN QUICKLY! I then was treated to a laundry list of insults, including being called a small little prick of a man. We got into an argument about if I had actually confirmed my order and they would charge a 15% fee or if the order was cancelled. After more verbal insults and the demand that I say I am sorry for being rude and arrogant (to which I said "I am sorry I did not know I was and asked how I was") the guy said fine, it is cancelled. I asked for clarification of cancelation and that I would not be charged. He claimed that I would not be charged, but we will see. Calling the credit card company now! I was so excited for the new camera too!"
"I attempted to purchase a Nikon D300 for $899.00 from Sonic Cameras. I should have known it was too good to be true but I saw it listed on reputable search listings. I figured they were using the low price to bait customers in.
I placed the order and became suspicious when the confirmation e-mail had a yahoo address. That set off a serious alarm.
I contacted Sonic Cameras and they had me confirm my name, etc to locate my order. They found it and wanted me to give them the 3 digit security code on the back of the card. I refused and the rep was very rude and I had to straighten him out. The minute I heard the African accent I knew I was in trouble. These are the same people who run the 419 scams. You can tell. They are very unprofessional and have no heart.
We put a stop on the payment and canceled the bank card. The bank is expediting another card on next week.
I learned a hard lesson. No more Internet Shopping from non reputable companies.
I will sleep well knowing my money is safe and sound and their e-mail flop tip the scale in my favor.

"Sent us the wrong lens and would not return it. Their address on their web site is not a valid address. be careful this company may scam you. The address on our packaged comes up as Empire Telecommunication."
"FLUSH 'm down. Same experience as everyone else. Exactly the same. Bogus company selling bogus products at bogus prices. I'm so glad I got the e-mail stating the Canon Xti with the "exclusive" package was on back-order 6-8 weeks... all after my order confirmation message and my follow-up to provide my card's security code and to hear the sales pitch for a $200-$350 battery (2-5hr) and a high-speed cfc for $200. Straight up FRAUD. I went from frustrated, headache-y to placid, serenity-y with a quick call to Bank__ customer service. The kind customer-service girl was quick and gracious in blocking my debit card and sending me a new one immediately, in spite of my foolish attempt to reel in a bargain. Who knows what kind damage this CON-company would have caused my meager bank account and my life. May the Sonic "company"'s creator have unending hiccups and unreachable itches for the rest of his silly life."
"What else can I say but when they sent me the wrong items and I returned them; they REFUSED to refund the purchase price. Currently in dispute... these guys are thieving liars!"
"I am yet another victim of this dispicable company. BUYERS OUT THERE BEWARE OF SONIC CAMERA!!! DONT BE TEMPTED BY THE PRICE!!!I purchased a Sony HDR-SR12 camcorder. I have been shopping for this for a while and had come to realize that unless I bought a "package" from a company (there are several Broadway photo, 86th street photo video, Digiemporio, Best Price Cameras all the same scam)they were magically out of the camera. The super low price you see on line is not the retail camera package but the camera alone, no batteries or anything. I found Sonic and thought there package deal was the best priced and thought at least I am getting the retail camera I want with a few accessories still below the retail of the camera itself. When I went to order the highest priced package, they wanted to sell me and even better package with upgraded memory, upgraded battery, "professional" wide angle lens "not the cheap stuff" and an "upgraded version of the retail camera with better battery and quick charger". Of course all of this was hundreds more that there best package. The salesman Bill even went into comparing baby stories with me to make this sound legitimate like he was giving me this great deal(we just had our first baby necessitating the purchase). When I recieved the camera for $50 shipping (advertised free on the web site) the accessory package is Digital Concepts lens, battery, lens protectors etc, all of which could be purchased for about $100 in total. I called to dispute the sale particularly the part of being mislead about the quality of the components and was told by an extremely rude gentleman that I was wasting their time, that I was given a great deal and the company only made $37, yeah right. They made that on the shipping alone. I was told I could return the camera for a %15 restocking fee. After arguing for 10 minutes, be it one sided with me listening, he asked me what I wanted because I had already wasted far too much of his time (he, being the customer service rep). I told him I wanted a return for a full refund. He would not do this but, God bless him, he would send me a free telephoto lens instead (advertised for $600 on their web site-actual value about $50). I said I would be disputing the charge with my credit card company and I was told I would be wasting more of my time to dispute the charge. We'll see."
"After ordering a Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS Autofocus lens for my Canon Rebel XT digital camera for a very low advertised price, I received an e-mail confirming the order and a second e-mail asking me to call in to confirm the order. I started to get a little suspicious at this point but called in as requested. At this time they did a classic bait a switch to try and get me to order another lens that was more expensive. I declined and the very next e-mail I got from them stating the following: "Unfortunately we are currently oversold on the item you have ordered, and it is currently on a backorder for 6-8 weeks. Therefore, your order has been canceled. Please note, your credit card has not been charged. Your cancellation number is: ***** the email address that you provided to us has been added to our "Notify List" and we will notify you as soon as the product becomes available." After reading the reviews on this site, I became alarmed and called my credit card company in order to prevent any charges from Sonic Cameras. They did have to change my account number in order to do this which will create some hassle for me with the companies that have this as my account, but it is well worth it to prevent them from perpetrating any additional fraud or hassle in cancelling the order. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM SONIC CAMERAS!!!! They are a disreputable company who engage in disreputable practices. Thanks to those on this site who have posted warnings about Sonic Cameras.
