Sportsman`s Guide is too busy selling cheap Chinese goods than actually doing any customer service. Lack of knowledge amongst the sales people is another disappointment.

"there customer service reps are a bunch of liars. i ordered somes boots online on Wed paid extra for next day shipping. they called me the the next day to confirm the address. i had the boots overnighted because i was going out of town for the weekend. i was suppose to get them by Friday. i called them Friday in the afternoon to find out where they were. the rep gave me a B.S. tracking number and said i have to call UPS directly. the rep assured me that i would get the boots Friday by 7 pm again. UPS never had that tracking number. called them saturady again still nothing. different rep told me, he doesn't know what happened, but should get them by monday maybe. i cancelled my membership. they would not refund my shipping. will never ever be dealing with them again. avoid them at all cost."

I live in southern ohio so I dont know how shopping is around the country but the prices I found were far less than amazon or locally. I ordered 3 adult wool pea coats, 1 timberland leather boots, 1 micro suede mocassin house shoes and paid 186.94 after a free ship coupon. I did not even buy the membership so it could have been less. I didnt b/c I normally buy clothes in person, these are gifts for christmas. I did find a free ship coupon code easily online and it was 17.99 in free shipping. "Joined up with Sportsman's guide. Did the whole "Club" thing. Could not access any of the features of the club and did not receive any of the discounts they promised. Charged full bore on my credit card for my order also. Customer service very condescending and rude towards it's customer. "This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and I base this mostly off of their downright atrocious customer service. They do not even read your emails, send out stock replies to everything, refuse to help whatsoever with your requests and basically just don't care. They wanted to keep me on backorder for over 7 months for some ammo and then kept putting me back on their backorder list even after I requested to be removed from it. They are just horrible. I don't know how a company like this survives."

"This is a pretty shady company. I've had three dealings with them. One order was fine. The second order they tried to charge me $31 more after the order was shipped. The third order they added $10 after the payment has been processed. I've been shopping online for 20 years, this is the first company that freely changes the order total after the customer has paid. "I am writing a general review of Sportsman's Guide just so folks know a general position to take with them. There are several things you ought to know:

1. Their prices often are the lowest for things like ammo and surplus military hardware and such. But, their prices are definitely not the best overall on all the stuff they sell!
2. They add shipping to everything, and then tax the shipping!
3. They will not honor coupons found online.
4. They will honor coupons sent to you in your email inbox (from them).
5. Their service is about middle of the road.
6. They want to add on "Shipping Protection" to every order, is that insurance? I have no idea what it really is, I read the explanation but it only talks about expedited shipping for replacements or something, not that you _will_ get a replacement.
7. Stuff they sell is generally as advertised, though I bought a pair of surplus boots, and they were decidedly not in "Very Good" condition, rather I might have called them "Good." They are pretty heavily used, but I just bought them as a lightweight pair to ride on my motorcycle and they are serviceable for that, I didn't expect a robust pair of hiking boots or anything.
8. They do not take product feedback directly on their site. This is probably their single largest complaint from me and others. If the consumer cannot give you feedback on the stuff you sell, then your overall rating will be reduced by one star - no matter what in my book.
9. The "Membership" is next to worthless, unless you spend $1,000 with them each year, which I don't. It saves about $5/$150 on the stuff I usually buy. That's not worth the investment in it IMHO.

So, give that I'd rate them about a 3/5, the reduction in rating due to the "No Feedback" (#8 above) makes them about a 2/5 rating overall.

"For those who are members or are thinking of becoming. All I can say is compare pricing. You can find anything SG has cheaper on either, AMAZON, BASS PRO, CABELAS, OR ANY OF SEVERAL FIREARM ACCESSERY SITES. Sportsman's Guide charges a lot for shipping and it always comes damaged because they do not protect it, boxes are to small, no bubble wrap or air bladders. Shop around first. I am not dogging SG altogether, I do love the magazine for bathroom reading material and finding products/ideas. I however am about saving a few bucks and my $30 membership is not saving me anything. When I signed up I didn't shop around and if I would of well I would have this wonderful bathroom subscription. I guess I could try for a membership refund, but honestly it was my own fault for not paying better attention and I am sure it would be a royal pain, already dealing with SG customer service on a few occasions after damaged products. I for one bought something based on SG's reviews, what a piece it was. Reading on another site, AMAZON, paints a totally different picture. Messed up thing is, myself being a member, I cannot post a comment about an item, so where do they get them.

For the guy who ordered ammo, do your math. Guarantee you could have found it cheaper. Just saved over $30 ordering through Cabela's for .223 ammo. SG's price 151.99+17.99 shipping and of course the infamous SG coupon codes ($10-20) - Cabelas 130.07 with tax and shipping. Just because it is in bulk does not mean it is cheaper!

I do wish Sportsman's Guide would however get it together and truly pass us the members the savings. Love the concept, but honestly that is all it is, just a money making concept! Now and then you can use a coupon code with a small priced item to actually save a little, but honestly the high priced shipping makes it less than you truly should of saved."

"I don't get all the negative reviews. Half of them complain that they "didn't know that membership cost $30," when it VERY CLEARLY adds a $30 membership to your cart. The other half are just buttmad that the milsurp clothing they bought is a strange size, because, you know, italy, germany, austria, the UK, and every country in the world basically have identical sizes (sarcasm).
Anyways, enough talking about stupid people. I became a member two weeks ago (knowing that it cost money because it says everywhere that membership costs $30 for a year). I have only bought two jackets and a couple magazines for my Wasr-10, yet I have already saved money on top of saving the $30 from membership, coupons baby! Additionally, my brother bought 500 rounds of brass cased 5.56 from them without a problem. I really like this company even though I've ordered only 5 products from them in the last year, because they always have interesting products at pretty great prices. On the two jackets I recently ordered, all the reviews said to order a size larger so I did, yet when I got them they were HUGE, so I shipped them back with the included return label thingy and in about a week got the right sizes back."

"Well, I have ordered twice from them and my second will be my last... I purchased military surplus clothing from them both times. The first order I purchased some long sleeve shirts and a a coat. The coat was nice and the proper size Xtra Large. The shirts on the other hand would be large at best going my THEIR sizing charts. I generally wear a large or extra large t-shirt depending on the brand but most of the time extra large fit's me looser than I would like. I have a 36 inch waist and am 6 ft tall. I thought oh well and gave the shirts away, I was pleased with the jacket.

Second order I ordered 8 shirts. All of them extra large. 2 were what could only be considered XXL going by their sizing charts. 2 were what would be a medium by their sizing. 4 were clearly marked M on the tag and would be a medium based on their sizing chart. So all in all 1 got 1 coat that was sized proper 7 shirts that were medium and 2 shirts that were absolutely huge!

None of them matched the sizing charts on their website. Not going to bother returning, I am simply done with this company. If you provide a size chart I am going to use it and I expect who ever classifies the sizing of clothing to know how to use a tape measure if the clothing is military surplus especially.

They simple can not size their clothing based on their own specifications. Getting military surplus clothing from these people that fits is the exception not the norm. They have lost my business and I would no longer recommended them at all. "

"AWEFUL experience. Ordered 10' platform stand. Box was returned by carrier due to damage, which i was not made aware of until i contacted them, their response was "oh did you want us to ship you another one", of course the funds have been withdrawn. By looks of replacement im sure it had to be the original one, box was torn up, taped together. Missing many pieces, don't know how many pieces because installation instructions are horrible. Ladder bent and broke first time I climbed it. Not sure savings are worth the stress. Was supposed to come with a set up video that I never received, I even told customer service and I still didn't get it."
