"My Bill from Sportsmans Guide was 145.96 minus 10.00 Coupon equals 135.96 Dollar
On my Credit Card the Charges became $160.86"
"I ordered some waterproof boots for $20.00. I was a little skeptical but I figured that is Bass Pro Outlet considers Sportsman’s Guide.com competition in their survey they must be legit. I received the boots quicker than I expected with no hidden charges and even though I am leery of online stores, so far so good. My only complaint would be that I receive no confirmation of the order via email. Until my next purchase, my vote is two thumbs up."
"Items when in stock get shipped fairly quickly. So far backordered items I have ordered showed up before they were supposed to.
but.....
On one of my recent orders I was charged for something I didnt receive. When I called I was told that because I saved xxx amount of dollars being a club member I could not get all of my money back for the missing item.
Item cost $30 (this is what I payed). But my club savings for that order was $22 so when they "refunded" my money for the missing item they only gave me back $8.
I didnt understand this and asked to speak to a supervisor who agreed with me and said I would be getting my full refund.
1 week later no refund, I call and go thru it all over again with same result - you will get your full refund.
1 week later no refund, I call again to be told - tough luck it isnt going to happen.
So basically they shorted my order, ripped me off $22 and then lied to me repeatedly about it.
GREAT COMPANY........Im not impressed."
"I'd been a satisfied customer of Sportsman's Guide since they first started catalog sales in the 1980s, and had recommended their products without reservation. But after recently being treated to the most boldfaced "bait and switch" I've ever experienced, I'll no longer be shopping with them.
I ordered a Eureka Spitfire tent from Sportsmans Guide on 3/31/05. I received an email confirmation of the order showing:
Eureka!® Spitfire Tent, Tan / Blue
Product: WX2-93630
Shipped directly from the vendor. Expected ship date: April 21, 2005.
Quantity: 1, Unit Price: $69.97, Total Price: $69.97
On 5/4/05 I finally received the tent, except it wasn't a Eureka Spitfire, it was a Eureka Solitare, which is quite different (and widely available for less than $70!) I called and spoke to Sportsmans Guide's customer service, who told me the Spitfire was listed on their website for $89.97, and had always been that price. When I asked why I was able to order it for $69.97 they told me somebody "in the warehouse" made a mistake. I'm sure there WAS a mistake, but it wasn't in the warehouse. I think it happened something like this. Their sales staff realized they'd made a mistake listing it for $69.97 when a bunch of orders flooded in and they realized it was a hot item. So they upped their price $20 and directed the manufacturer to send the poor slobs who already ordered one the cheaper Solitare. I have several bits of evidence to support this theory. I know the tent had been listed on their website for well over a week with the $69.97 price, because I waited over a week to order it after initially finding it there (at that price) using Froogle. And after talking to their customer service, I posted on several outdoor discussion forums about "the $70 Eureka Spitfire at Sportsmans Guide" and found one other person who had gotten the same bait and switch from them on the same tent:

Even better, on another forum a person pointed me to a discussion on the backpackinglight Yahoo! group where the $70 price was mentioned in a post dated 3/13/05:

I don't understand how a company can operate like this. I guess they keep enough people happy that they can get away with dumping on a few occassionally. Personally, I'll look elsewhere for camping and sporting goods items from now on. "
"I have shopped online at this store for a number of years and have been overall pleased. I think their shipping and handling charges are a bit higher then other online retailers.
Recently, I tried to do an order with a Visa gift card. The order was accepted but then a day or two later I was notified there was a problem. Turns out their policy is to accept only one charge card per order. Since the Visa gift card is essentially another credit card, they wouldn't accept payment from the gift card and wanted to charge the full balance to my other charge card. Their reasoning was it messed up their accounting. Even when I talked with someone from their credit department, I could not get this solved. I essentially canceled the order.
In my opinion, this retailer doesn't go the extra mile for customer satisfaction. Add to this the fact that they have this ridiculous reasoning for not accepting Visa gift cards when additional payments are required.
I've written a letter to their customer service center in hopes they may wake up and change their policies. In the meantime, because of this negative experience with them, I can't recommend using them as an online retailer. I've had better experiences with other sporting goods online retailers."
"The worst place to do internet shopping. I bought a pair of shoes over this super-cluttered website through their advertisement with Fatwallet.com. Today for some weird reason their RUDE customer service called me telling me that that shoe is meant for "Club Members" only and I need to join that stupid membership to purchase that shoes. Now, as far as I remember there was no indication that I have to be a club member to purchase that shoes on the day I ordered that shoes. They changed it over the weekend! The worst is their customer service woman who called me and FORCED me to cancel my order.
The bottomline, this website is one of the WORST website on the Internet. "
"We have ordered several items from Sportsman's guide and have had excelent service and product quality. We had to return 1 pair of men's boots due to size and had NO problems there either."
"This merchant appears to be a duplicate of one simply called "Sportsmans Guide" (no "The") in the ResellerRatings database. Here's a link to the other one, which has a lot more reviews than this one:

"I'll be brief. Ordered a Guide Gear 30 LED lantern. Received the item and it it had a broken handle. I waited for a prepaid shipping label and shipped it back. When they processed the so called "exchange", it appears they sent me the original damaged item back. Do not mess with these guys."
"I have to say that eventhough some items may be on backorder they state that when you place the item in the basket, they sometimes expect the item a little too soon and you may wait another two or three weeks to receive the items but again, they send you an email specifying everything. The prices are the best I have seen as compared to cheaperthandirt.com, cabelas, etc. They are speedy in the shipping and they never have any questions about returns( I once returned a car auto vent that is solar powered. I had already cut the plastic vents to fit my window, and since it didn't work to my expectations, I returned it) it was a no trouble no questions asked return. Another thing about the shipping since it is pricy, you can search for coupons on the internet to get 10 dollars off 100 5 off 50, 20 off 250. to offset shipping. I have ordered over 1500 dollars in equipment, ammo, etc over the last year and a half and I have NEVER and I repeat NEVER had a problem with them. I stand behind them all the way. Hope this review helps. by the way their customer service is excellent. You can always get through, people are nice what more can you ask for."
"My order was done on www.sportsmansguide.com.
I ordered a snow jacket and bibs. The bibs were on backorder which the website said they were. The jacket was delivered quickly and brand new without issues. In fact it was a better quality than I thought it would be for that price.
I was notified when the bibs were expected in stock. I was then emailed when they were mailed out, which was actually sooner than previously predicted. These were good quality also.
Everything was sent with tracking numbers and I followed their progress.
My overall experience with sportsmansguide was very good. Their prices are low and from what I've seen the merchandise good quality.
I was directed to their website by someone I know who said they are good to deal with. As far as I am concerned they are.
No problems with my order at all."
"I placed an order for a pair of boots with Bargain Outfitters (a Sportsman's Guide company) on 6/12/05. The boots were listed as "In stock" and $38.49. I received an email confirming my purchase the same day.
Two weeks later I received a mailed postcard stating the the item was out of stock, but would ship within a week for $49.99. I contacted them by email asking about the price change and was assured that the item would ship within the week for the advertised price.
Wait another two weeks...Another card arrives stating that the item will not be available. Thanks for the bait and switch.
I'll refrain from future purchases. Unfortunately, there were other companies offering the product for about 20% more (the price that they changed it to later), so this delayed my receiving the item by at least five weeks.
Beware the bait and switch on price. This company's prices CANNOT be trusted nor can the availability, even with future assurances.
Oh, might I add that they are currently selling the SAME item on the site for $79.99. Not in stock and won't be receiving it?"
" I've ordered from these guys several times in the past both online and through the catalog and I have to say I'm extremly satisfied.
If you've ever ordered boots or shoes online you know how risky a good fit is. Well I've ordered 3 pairs of boots from them and never had an issue.
My most recent order was for boots and a thermos set. The boots came with free expedited processing and the thermos set was on back-order. Delivery for the thermos was supposed to be 2-3 weeks of well I not only got expedited processing but expedited delivery and recieved the set yesterday."
"This merchant fails to provide country of origin for its products on their web pages. I had sent e-mail on an order and had specifically noted that I wanted to avoid materials from China. However, they sent me boots from China (with Chippewa label). I am very disappointed in this company and cannot recommend them."
"My experience with Sportman's Guide is that they have very restrictive policies on shipping gun and ammunition-related items. Their policies exceed laws and local regulations and also other sporting good online stores such as Cabela's, Midway USA, and Cheaper-than-dirt.
Just to give an example, Sportman's guide won't ship Snap Caps (dummy ammunition without powder, absolutely legal and harmless) to California, while they do ship the same real ammunition.
Unfortunately Sportman's Guide will accept every order, only to come back to you days later and reject the restricted parts. I consider this Bait-and-Switch in order to get the rest of the order.
I would avoid this store in favor of the other stores listed above."
