"They contacted us to order more stuff we refused. Our charge card in 2 days was charged up over 900.00 before we were contacted by our credit card company to verify these transactions. These transactions were not made by us. Guess who? Gee I wonder who shopped at the gap on-line, banana republic on-line, pay pal, i-tunes, Astalavista, and last but not least spoof card. I am not done with this company yet!!!! They will pay!!! NEVER give them your CC #..... CROOKS"
"STAY AWAY!! RESEARCH THEM FIRST!!! You will VERY MUCH REGRET dealing with these people (if that is what you can call them). After we politely declined from some pushy "offers" for additional accessories, they told us they were not going to include the accessories promised on the website and we were going to recieve a used camera instead of the promised new one. I argued with them and they grew very hostile and said that I was going to be sorry and they were going to make me cry. The New York Times did an article on them, they are so bad. They do not care if you call the BBB. They are constantly closing one store down and reopening news ones with different names. They own other camera sales websites called Howdycamera.com, Stargatephoto.com, Stop4Camera.com, Accessoriesland.com, Wawadigital.com, Leobarnet.com, www.bestpricecameras.com, and mraccessory.com. For more info, go to http://sheddingsomelight.com/buy-cameras/list/dealers-stop4fam.html. STAY AWAY!!!! They have complaints all over the internet!!!!

"DID NOT DELIVER! Found low price on internet for Sony V3, so I called. Salesman Kevin sold me a "5 hour battery" for $130. I told him I would only accept a genuine Sony battery. (After hang-up I found Sony only sells a NPFR1 battery for that camera and it is $80 direct from Sony. He did not know the product and sold me ???)On 3/8 I called because I paid for 3-day shipping. After about 10 minutes on the phone, someone said "That camera is not available. We did not charge your card. Click". I suggest you don't call them in the first place!"
"STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! Like everyone else I ordered a $400 camera, and when i called to confirm the order, they tried to sell me an extra $200 battery. I did not want it so osama bin laden told me "Ok, that's what I though." and hung up on me! Within seconds later I got an e-mail saying my order was cancelled! I called them back and they told me it was out of stock, when it was completely in stock before theny knew that they weren't going to scam me into another battery! I told them just to send me the silver version of the camera, and they said that they do not carry it, when it is clearly represented on their website; and both items say in stock!
WORST COMPANY EVER!!!! I wish I could drive down to the company and punch osama in the face.
NOT ONLY DID THEY DO THIS TO ME, but I got a new debit cart on a new bank account and this company was the ONLY company to have the info, and after writing this review my credit card number was used for faudulent activity and they wiped out my WHOLE BANK ACCOUNT!!!!!
STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS THEY WILL STEAL YOUR IDENTITY WITH THE INFORMATION YOU PROFVIDE THEM!!!!!!!!!"
"Wow! Indeed...I almost "burned" myself, too with these crooks!! I have ordered the Casio Exilim EX-600 on-line to a low price (...be aware!!)and the next day I got the call to confirm the purchase(!?)...but they told me that the camera is refurbished (that was not stated on their website) and they tried to sell me the extra accesories. After I denied... the phone went dead...that's called "customer satifaction". So, if you want to save some "headaches"...DON'T DEAL WITH MORONS!!"
"FRAUD * FRAUD * FRAUD * RUN AWAY FROM THIS SELLER
Based on my experience with this seller I believe that they engage in bait and switch tactics. Once they determined that, upon calling to "confirm" my order, I was not going to purchase numerous accessories, the deal changed completely. They did not want to discuss what I had ordered and the website description, but rather cancelled my order. I HAVE NOTIFIED THE NY STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE OF THIS UNFAIR AND DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICE. IF YOU ENCOUNTER THIS AS WELL I ENCOURAGE YOU TO MAKE THE SAME NOTIFICATION."
"WARNING!!!!!!!! Horrible - horrible - horrible experience!!!!!!! The salesman was rude, cruel, and pushy. When I said no thank you to the extras he was trying to sell me, he started making accusations and ridiculous comments - when I asked him why he was being so rude he cancelled my order - absolutely unbelievable - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!!!!!!!!"
"I ORDERED FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE OF LOW PRICES AND IT ALSO HAD A HIGH CUSTOMER RATING ON THE PRICE COMPARISON LISTS. RECEIVED A CALL THE NEXT DAY FROM THE COMPANY WANTING TO KNOW IF I WANTED TO BUY A MEMORY CARD AND/OR BATTERY CHARGER. I SAID NO AND THEN WAS TOLD THE CAMERA I ORDERED WAS REFURBISHED. IN THE WHOLE ORDERING PROCESS THERE WAS NO INDICTATION THAT THE CAMERA WAS NOT BRAND NEW. I CANCELED MY ORDER AND RECEIVED AN E-MAIL STATING MY ORDER HAD BEEN CANCEL DUE TO LACK OF STOCK. NOW OF COURSE THE COMPANY HAS MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER AND INFORMATION. ALSO DON'T KNOW IF I WANT TO TRY TO PURCHASE ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET AGAIN. "
""VERY DISSATISFIED" DOESN'T EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW I FEEL OR WHAT I WANT TO DO TO THESE CRIMINALS.
Ordered a Fuji S5200 from wawadigital. I had caught a couple reviews on another website which were split 50/50. Poor customer service was balanced out by amazing prices. So I went for it.
When I called to confirm my order, the guy who answered immediately began trying to upsell me a battery and a memory card. He stated that the nimh battery system he would like to sell me goes for $120, but would give it to me for $70. He explained all the benefits of the battery system, and I desided to do it. When I received my order I could tell by the packaging of the Merkury brand battery that it was a low cost unit. With a little internet search I found out the unit sells for about $15 to $26, not the $70 they had charged me. Also on the invoice the $70 cost of the battery was included in the cost of the camera, to make it look like they had thrown in a free battery system (to prevent returns).
I wrote them an email advising I wanted a refund of the difference, or I wanted a full refund if I mailed the battery system back. I said if they wanted to play hardball then I would let people know online.
Well today I get a phone call from Western Union saying someone had wired money ($377) from my bank account to someone in Morrisville NY by the name of Lawrence Maher. They could not provide the origination point. It is just a funny coincidence that after I threaten them with spreading the word of their corruption that I start having fradulent charges against my credit/ debit card, and the recipient of the wire was in NY, the same state where the fraudulent wawadigital.com operates.

Since my initial post. A charge occurred on my debit card for $49.95. This came in after I thought my card had been cancelled. I called to alert my bank/ Visa. When I did I asked who the charge was to. They said it was to a www.Intelius.com. Upon contacting them they said someone had provided all my personal information and my debit card number, and had run a background check on a guy out of Cali. I was able to contact this guy, who just so happened to attempt to buy a camera from wawadigital. When they tried to sell him on other accessories he turned them down, and they then cancelled his order. He said the sales person threatened to "make life hell" for him.
So obviously they used my information to run the background check of him.
These people need to be stopped NOW! Obviously I'm not the only one being screwed over by these crooks. Please bombard the following people with your concerns: ic3.gov, the BBB (bbb.org), The NY attorney general (www.oag.state.ny.us), the NYPD and even the NY state police.
This has to end.
The saga continues... My bank made me contact wawa digital because I believed the source of the fraud was them. I spoke to a guy who said his name was "James Silver" and the owner of The Camera Whiz. He was adament about not having any part in fraud, even with confronted with the information that a person who attempted to buy something from him later had a background check ran on him using MY card. Silver claimed that it must have been this other victim of their business who stole my information. He even went as far to say that hackers must have gotten my information too.
This business is nothing but: CRIMINALS/ LIARS/ THIEVES. BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!"
"My experience mirrors most others that have posted.I placed an online order.I was bombarded with phone calls from someone named James to purchase additional accessories at an inflated price. When I said I didn't want any accesseries, he said the camera I was purchasing was refurbished, but he could sell me a new one at another inflated price.I said no.Then he yelled that he was cancelling my order.I said that would be fine.He never sent a cancellation. Now they have my CC number and my personal info.
I filed a complaint with the NY State Attorney General. They need to know about these types of business prctices. Here is the info to file a complaint

"On 2/11/06 I ordered a Konica Minolta Dimage A200 through www.wawadigital.com. The product page clearly stipulates that the SKU is the Konica SKU and that the package contents include a battery, charger, warranty, etc.
To place this order I had to use a Mastercard. The only Mastercard I have (personally) is one that I have almost never used and certainly not used in many many months, particularly over the Internet. I generally place Internet orders with my Discover card and have had no problems.
On 2/12/06 I was contacted via phone by a WAWADIGITAL salesperson saying that I had forgotten to order a battery. Since I've been through this routine before, I immediately cancelled the order over the phone. I received an email confirmation of the cancellation within minutes of that phone call.
However, on 2/16/06 I was contacted by the Sears fraud division to question a number of Internet purchases made with my Mastercard. I told them I had not made any of those purchases and they have since cancelled the account.
My complaint against WAWADIGITAL is that they tried to sell me something that was supposed to be part of the package I ordered, "upselling." But I also find it too coincidental that the only time in many months that I have used my Mastercard online was with WAWADIGITAL and that within days that credit card number was being fraudulently used.
Whether or not the credit card fraud had occurred I would not buy from this company because of their deceit and upselling."
"I placed an order with this company on 2/8/06 for a brand new Kodak Easyshare V550 digital for $220 + $15.40 (for UPS 3 day shipping). I got a follow up call the next day to confirm my shipping address & to attempt to upsell me a battery & memory card (which I didn't need). After I politely refused the add-ons, I was told that I had ordered a refurb camera. I told the rep I did not. That what I purchased was a brand new unit as listed on their website. The rep then stated that he was cancelling my order & rudely hung up the phone.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS VENDOR. THEY ARE DISHONEST & SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN."
"WaWa specializes in identity theft, stay away!! The price is not real, they use/sell your credit card information illegally!!!! Before knowing/experiencing this, I placed an order with WaWa before reading the reviews on this site and many others regarding how bad this company is. After placing the order, I received a call from "JJ" trying to sell me very expensive accessories. When I politely declined, he became very belligerent and rude. At this point, I asked him to cancel my order, to which he replied, "If you cancel it, you will never order from us again". I replied that was fine, please cancel it. He hung up abruptly, and I immediately got a really bad feeling about the whole ordeal. I called my bank in an attempt to stop any posting of the item, but they couldn't do anything until the transaction came through. As it turns out, I received a call from my bank this morning saying that charges amounting to approximately $900 were showing up on my statement, and it raised red flags due to the volume and $ amounts. I am disputing them, of course, but I am convinced this company is run by crooks, and they should not be in business. They have stolen from me, and I am going to try to do anything in my power to stop this from happening. DO NOT ENTERTAIN THE THOUGHT OF ORDERING FROM THIS COMPANY! IT IS A SCAM, BAIT & SWITCH, AND THEY ARE CROOKS! The advertised prices are not real, they are thieves."
"Give me a big DA on this one. I should know better. I guess I got caught up on the low prices. My first clue that this was not a first rate seller was when I got an email to call to confirm my order. What's up with that? When I called the number the voice mail message said that they were closed and that their office hours were 11 AM Eastern to 5 PM Eastern M-Th and another set of hours on Friday. Can't remember. Funny thing is that these hours do not match their website posted hours. Most impressive. I was telling someone at work that this whole deal was making me a little nervous. They checked resellerratings.com for this company. Now I'm really concerned when I saw a .16 rating out of 10. After trying to call a couple times to cancel my order without success, I finally found a customer service email address and sent a note to cancel my order. I also had called to see if my credit card had been charged. Fortunately it had not been authorized for the sale yet. Another Red Flag.
I did get a call from them to confirm and was challenged as to why. I basically said because I did not have a lot of confidence in what I had seen so far in their process. The person on the other end was rather rude and basically said, fine, we'll cancel the order. End of story. When looking at my order history it did show cancelled but the email confirmation, like a previous commentor noted, stated that the order was cancelled because the item was not in stock. When I ordered it, they said it was in stock. Go figure.
Anyway, good lesson to be learned. Don't do business on the internet with companies you've never heard of. Check independent ratings. If you checked this companies own web site you will find nothing but glowing praise. I wonder how many positive responses they can put in a day on themselves. In two days alone there were 40 additional positives. A couple of negative comments that I had seen before were mysteriously gone. Wonder how that works!!! LOL.
Stay away."
"CRIMINAL company, literally. Stay away.
by commontouch, Jan 30 '06
It's true. These guys are totally CRIMINAL! I thought the price of my camera sounded too good to be true. I ordered online and got an email telling me I needed to call to confirm the order. I thought they might use that as an opportunity to sell me up on accessories.
Which he did. After he berated me for not wanting to buy accessories, he asked if I knew the camera was refurbished. Then, when I said that was OK, he asked if I knew it's a Japanese version, as in: all the menus are in Japanese. " The US version is $299 more ", he said.
I said, " oh, I see, you're running a bait and switch here ", after which he called me a schmuck and threatened to charge my VISA 30% of the deal just for p-ing me off. Of course he knew by then I was canceling my order. I said I would talk to my VISA company and the Better Business Bureau about it.
So he called me a few other things and I hung up. I don't know yet if he charged my card.
I am amazed that a company like this can get ANY business. I hope someone can shut them down soon.
