"I went online and bought a Canon S3 IS Digital camera from techondigital.com. This was last Thursday. By Monday afternoon, my camera had arrived in perfect condition. I am very pleased with the service and how fast they were. My only concern was that the price listed was for a "grey market" camera which was a Japanese language version. However, after reading their policies, it is mentioned that sometimes this is the case. It would be helpful if this information was posted in a more prominent place, though. I did upgrade to the US version. Also, the salesman did try to sell me other items, but I did not feel overly pressured to buy. (But hey, these guys are from Brooklyn...you should expect a little bit of aggressiveness!) Finally, I saw in other posts that their SSL certificates were expired. This concerned me, so I checked for myself and found that they are valid until 2008. Overall, I am very pleased with the service and would recommend them. "

"Yet another scammed consumer. My girlfriend wanted to buy me a Canon SD1000 camera for X-mas. (I recently bought her one at circuit city for $149 during their Black Friday weekend sale). Anyways, the sale ended and it was back up to $199 so I decided to try to find a better deal online. So i just entered SD1000 in google and everyprice.com brought it up for $155 at TechonDigital.com (scammers). I read 100% positive reviews and should have simply googled this website address into google to get the real scoop, but i didnt. I went to BBB.org to double check, but unfortunately, they have everything listed BUT www.techondigital.com in their database (this is the same people but own numerous different domain names and fake storefronts: TheDigitalNerds / techondigital.com / DigitalSuperdeals / Wawa Digital / Stargate Photo / Starlight - I think they own Quest4Cameras.com too... so be forewarned!!!!)

anyway, my girlfriend bought the camera (after I saw all the 'online store certified' and "ssl secured' (which were all fake BTW). i felt confident letting her order, and keep in mind, its on her credit card & her name & address is now floating around out there.

anyway, she places the order, gets the same ole "please call to confirm order within 24 hours" email. but no more than 5 minutes later, a guy calls and talks to her.. confirms her order & address, then tries to sell her stuff she didn't want. she's kinda easy to give in but didnt feel comfortable so she put me on the phone. she told me "this guy says that i must buy a memory card to get the camera". I was like "no, thats total BS, let me talk to him".

so i get on the phone and said, "yeah, you said something about a memory card?" and he goes on and on about how we need a memory card cuz its top of the line and any other cards won't save more than 50 photos (BS!!), and that we need a new battery and trying to sell me all these packaged deals. I told him "no, no no" no case, no battery, no memory card, WE JUST WANT THE CANON SD1000 for $155 + s/h!!!!! He finally gets the idea and said "fine then" and hung up.

this guy was super rude and pushy. i knew right away, we got taken for a scam. right after i hung up, i entered "techon digital" in google, and sure enough, TONS of bad reviews from cnet.com to epinions.com to ripoffreport and even this site, came up. i felt SO guilty that i didn't take one more step and do more research.

STAY FAR AWAY and use this site to review all resellers out there...

it took about 5 days, then my girlfriend got the "your item is out of stock for 6-8 week email..." that everybody else got and they cancelled the order.

MY SUGGESTION TO ALL:

If you fell victim to these people, DO NOT try to cancel the sale yourself, or they will charge you a 20% restocking/cancellation fee.

1st, call your bank and cancel your card, let them know about this company and the possible fraud that may occur and let them know you will dispute ALL charges from this company.

2nd, wait for the "your order has been canceled" email, that way THEY canceled the order and can't charge you a thing. Because they do have it in fine print that you'll be charged a cancellation fee if you call to cancel your order, so wait for them to do it.

STAY AWAY!!!!!

"After searching other websites for the best price on the canon sd870 is, I found the techno digital website that advertised the lowest price: $265. After filling out the order form online, I was alerted to call the company within 24 hours to confirm my order and I did so. The company was closed. The next morning before I could call the company back I received a phone call from TONY. I thanked him for calling and verified my address and my order for shipping. He explained how I would require a special battery for this product since the battery included only lasted "5 minutes". I told this was a gift and I had a limit as to what I could spend. He insisted I needed this battery and he had a special price for me. I reiterated my budget and he became quite irritated. He then explained I would need an additional memory card since the card included could only hold 3 to 4 pics. I calmly explained one last time that I was not interested in purchasing anything else at that time. He became very nasty asking "why are you even buying this camera anyway?" I was shocked at his comment. I then asked to speak to a supervisor or manager. He asked me why I would want a manager. I again insisted I needed to talk to a manager. He then placed me on hold for quite some time. When he picked up again he explained he could not find a manager at that time and said "I will just cancel your order then". I told him not to cancel my order and to give me the name of the manager and I would call back again and I ended the phone call. The was by far the most disgraceful treatment of a consumer I have ever experienced. I too will be contacting the media and the Better Business Bureau by the end of today. This is simply a scam. I am appalled that this company is still in business considering their treatment of a customer. Shame on me for not first reading their ratings.

"I just purchased a camera from this store. I had been browsing the past two weeks and checking out everyprice.com to see which stores had the best price/rating. This store had the lowest price and had alot of positive reviews (which I'm now thinking were fake... it's no longer represented on everyprice.com) Well anyways I ordred the camera for $225 and got a "confirmation call" which as all of you mentioned was just a bunch of false sales crap. I refused all of it then the guy told me that I had purchased the 'overseas' model and everything would be in Japanese. He then proceeded to make me feel like an idiot for ordering the 'overseas' model and told me I could get the English one for $269. I finally agreed, but checked my order later to make sure that I didn't make a mistake and actually order the Japanese version (I didn't... it doesn't mention anything about a language) I sent them a nasty email asking for a refund or to just pay the original price, but I haven't recieved a response. Is there anything else I can do if they never respond or am I just screwed?!? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!"

"After my attempted purchase and the frustration that I had with this company I searched the internet and found this web site to check on the ratings of different companies. As I read all the negative reviews I could do nothing but agree with 90% of what has already been said about this business. I will repeat one comment made. DO NOT do business with techondigital.com or any of its affiliates. I even called as a new customer after my order was "back ordered" and asked if my item was in stock. They said that it was and when I told them that I had already ordered it and to please send it out they just hung up on me. "

"Disreputable company. Do not do business with them. I ordered a camera, Panasonic DMC-FZ18K, online. Got an email to call back to confirm my order. I made the call. Salesperson lied about the product stating the battery was good for only five minutes and it had no internal memory. He stated I needed to by a $140 battery to use the camera (a battery for this camera is $15). He also wanted to sell as SD card (less than one gig) for $95. I stated I will buy the camera only. He stated "Enjoy your camera." The order never came. All I ever got was the confirmation of my order via email. No other contact. They hang up on you if you call back. They will not sell at the advertised price. This company changes its name frequently. Contact your attorney general and file a complaint against them to put them out of business for good."

"I was asked by email to call to confirm my order before it would be shipped. I placed the order on Saturday, I called to confirm and they were closed until Monday. By the time I arrived at work Monday thee were 4 emails asking me to call to confirm my order and one on my cell phone. I called and was immediately informed that the battery that comes with the Fujipix phone I ordered ($129) only had a life of 20 minutes. I could get an additional 5 hour battery but that would cost me an additional $100. As I asked my second question, I was told by the salesman (Scott extension 207) that I sounded pathetic and must be old as I forgot already asking the same question. I am sorry, asking questions before I spend an additional $100 is my right as a consumer. Being treated like crap by some ass clown is not. I would not spend a penny at techondigital."

"Same general scam as others have reported, happened to me. I received the email to call them to confirm the order, when the pushy sales rep tried to sell me extremely overpriced accessories and tried to tell me "the battery that comes with the camcorder only last about 20 minutes." I politely declined, and he says, "enjoy your camera" and hung up. That was all I've heard from them.

I went to their website last night (www.techondigital.com) and the price of the exact same camera I ordered was increased from $509 to $599. That was very suspicious to me.

No shipping confirmation, but luckily they have not charged my credit card yet. I will contact my CC company to block this order should it go thru.

Respectfully,
Herbie Wilson

UPDATE: I called my CC company and explained the situation. Luckily no charges have gone thru, so they've voided my old CC number and issued a new one. =)

Please go here and do the same thing I did; file a complaint on them. The address of the business is:

83 Ave O, Brooklyn NY. 11204 1-***-***-****

I also sent the following in my complaint, and also sent the same thing to FOX 5 NY:

An electronics reseller online, based out of Brooklyn, that offers 'too-good-to-be-true' prices on name brand electronics, then scams the customers when they don't agree to buy accessories. i have read HUNDREDS of forum and website reviews and posts on this company. I almost got suckered into the same thing, but smelled a scam, cancelled my order, and also cancelled my debit card. The following links should get you started:

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/TheDigitalNerds

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoFN0JjSyX_0IcJciHVxdr0jzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20071111134523AABOVW5

http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7593_102-0.html?forumID=58&threadID=273339

These scam artists use various domain/company names, but I found the address of origin that one user got on his invoice:

83 Ave O, Brooklyn NY. 11204 1-***-***-****

Please call me at any time day or night for more information; I would love to stop people from being taken advantage of. Keep in mind that I have not seen ONE REVIEW where the consumer was happy with the results from this company.

Sincerely,

xxxxxxxx

"I have had a terrible experience with the following company: Techondigital Cameras & Electronics/Whiz Camera www.Techondigital.com

On Wednesday, 11-28-07 at 9:00 AM I ordered a Nikon Coolpix S51c digital camera on line for my daughter for Christmas. Starting at 11:00 AM in the morning I tried to cancel the order with the company because they tried to sell me additional camera accessories that I did not need. Techondigital told me that I would need additional accessories in order for the camera to function properly. I immediately called a Nikon representative on the phone and was told that the camera did not indeed need an additional accessories for it to function. After deciding to cancel the order because of their deceitful tactics I had to speak to several people at Techondigital @ ***-***-**** starting with a William, Jim, Jay Jay and ultimately with a Jeffrey to try to cancel the order. I was put on hold indefinitely and each and every one of these individuals was trying to sell me additional merchandise and giving me the run around and not allowing or wanting me to cancel my order. At 2:05 PM I was finally able to get a cancellation number C44 from JEFFREY who was still trying to get me to accept a 1GB Drive for the camera for not cancelling the order.
I immediately called my credit card company to see if they had put through a charge on my account and it turns out that they did indeed charge my account $293.90 and as of today, November 29, 2007 the charge still appears on my credit card even though the order has been cancelled. Now, I will have to dispute this charge with my credit card company and hope that this scamming company does not attempt to ship the merchandise out anyway.
I was totally disappointed with their response, business tactics and attitude that all of these individuals had in this company and I do not feel that they are doing fair business with anyone the places any orders with them. How can they get away with charging your credit card account for an order that has been CANCELLED. I think they are trying to steal money from individuals who are honestly trying to purchase something on line from them. They are creating a bad, negative image for all of the good companies with quality name brand merchandise like NIKON that's being sold on line.

"Ordered online. Called Techondigital rep in response to email requesting order confirmation. He gave a hard sell to buy expensive add-ons. I became very suspicious and asked for full verbal confirmation of my order. He said shipping would be 6 to 8 weeks when website said 7-10 days. He said my camera was back ordered because it was a "gray market" (no USA warranty) item. I said "Cancel my order." He claimed the website clearly stated the item was gray market, but for $30 more I could get a USA warranty camera. I received a cancellation number and a cancellation email. I went back to the website and the very last sentence of a very lengthy "policies" section says "we carry usa and grey market cameras usa warranty may vary is cost." Do not shop here. Definite scam."

"Ordered a camera (Canon Powershot G9). Got the "call to confirm" email. Called, told them I didn't want the extras, got the cancellation email. What a waste of time. Bought the camera at my local brick-and-mortar store. "

"Looks like I'm in the same boat as everyone else here. Like has been said before, I wish I had found this site before placing my order with these guys. I also ordered only to get the e-mail to "confirm order", followed by a canceled order when I didn't buy anything else at over inflated prices. What a waste of time. It's guys like this that give all online retailers a bad rap. Next time I'll just pay a few dollars more and go with a class outfit like NewEgg. Ahh, I think I'm feeling a little better now.

When reading reviews on any site, you have to realize everyones expectations are different. One person may have all kinds of trouble and still say, " Hey it wasn't that bad". Another shopper may have a minor glitch and want to castrate the owner and his offspring. When however, there are so many unsatisfied customers, you have to say to yourself, "Houston we have a problem".
In this holiday season of love, joy, hope and giving, I have but one wish. That Santa visits the offices of TechonDigital, bends them all over, and gives to them what they have been giving to most of their customers for the last 7 months!

Try to have a happy holiday everyone.

"These people are crooks and all around jerks. My fiancé found them via "everyprice.com" where she found a price on a Canon 800sd refurb for 179 she was going to purchase me for Christmas. She made the order last night then called to confirm today during business hours as they requested. After she refused the upsell the guy accused her of being rude told her he would ship it and hung up. Then she received an email saying it was backorder and not to try to order it again. She was so upset that she came to me even though this was a Christmas gift. These people are not worth dealing with. What they are doing is not ethical, if they don't honor their advertised price they should not be allowed to operate.

On a side, and personal note, if I were to find out where they are located, I will kick there asses for making my fiancée cry.

Sincerely,

Justin

"my experience is much of the same of everyone else. got a great price on a digital camera, well below everyone else's price. I was then told to call to confirm the order and upon speaking with a pushy salesman who I refused the upsell a week later I received an email cancelling the order. I did call back to talk to a manager and was then told I was speaking to the owner who was the first person I spoke with. I told then guy they are running a scam and he then began to insult me and call me Jewish. I'm not even Jewish and don't know if this is them trying to say I'm cheap for not buying the upsell items or what but obviously these people have no class and are just rats. I only worry my credit card info I submitted when I originally placed my order may fall into the wrong hands."
