"While I love the items for sale on the website, I absolutely hate this company. There's really no excuse for how badly they perform.
I've been shipped the wrong items. Customer service is unresponsive to the point it's almost non existent. You can't exchange anything, if you get the wrong size of a shirt for example, you have to return and rebuy it. If the price is higher now, well too bad for you, it now costs you more. If you do return something, there's a good chance they'll never credit you. Their inventory tracking is terrible. They have no idea what their current stock is on anything and will oversell.
Everything about this place is anti-customer, and like it's run out of some guy's basement. Hey, that's fine, that's their choice. My choice is to not shop there if I can get it elsewhere."
"Generally has fun, but very overpriced stuff. Some is really cheap quality, and some of the same stuff can be found on Amazon cheaper. They also have poor customer service. I placed an order at 10:30 PM from my phone. Did not notice a promo. that would have reduced my cost by 25% if I just spent another $10. Tried to cancel the order before 6 am so I could add to it to get the promo - They would not let me cancel the order, would not let me add to the order to get the promo. basically wasted a bunch of time on their customer service chat. They come off all friendly in their marketing, but when the rubber meets the the road it is all about their profits. Not customer oriented."
"Wow, i didnt know there were so many negative reviews, if i had known, i wouldnt have bought stuff on there. I wouldn't say they scammed me, but 2/3 not perfect and i wouldn't order again even with geekpoints. I ordered the butterfly in a jar, molecular cuisine kit, bleeding candle, diy bloodtype test, and bloody butcher knife purse. The diy bloodtype test didn't come was missing the plastic pipette, and the bloody butcher knife purse was sorta scuffed up and bent. Obviously i am sending the test back since i couldn'tt do it without everything, but i ultimately decided to keep the purse because its still cool and i figured they woulda sent me the same one and not in better condition. It was not worth it for the price though."
"I ordered the Minecraft Bundle, I chose economy shipping to the UK as I didn't have that much money and thought everything would be fine and dandy, it'll arrive in 1-3 weeks. Oh, how wrong I was. I waited an entire month with no sign of my parcel, I thought it was a little peculiar as the last time I ordered something from there, it arrived in 2 weeks. I contacted them to see if they could at least tell me whether or not my parcel had arrived in the UK as economy shipping can't be tracked. They came back with the response of "economy shipping can't be tracked blah blah blah" and telling me that it appears my parcel was lost in transit. I was asked which option I'd prefer a. A replacement shipped via economy shipping b. a store credit or c. a full refund, I still wanted/want my bundle so I chose to have a replacement, which low and behold, is out of stock. So now I'm on a notification list to tell me when it comes back in stock, they still have my money, and I have to tell them to ship it to me when they should do this on their own when it comes in stock! It's not my job to tell them, the only reason I haven't got a refund is because some of the items are exclusive to ThinkGeek. Not happy in the slightest.
Edit: Almost 2 months on from ordering my Minecraft bundle, I have now just been notified that I cannot get one because restrictions have been placed on the product, meaning it can't be shipped out of the US or Canada; useless for me because I live in the UK. Terrible company, never purchasing from them again! Also took around a week to get any response from customer service. I would choose all 0 stars if I could, 1 star is generous in my opinion!"
"Apparently if you order and item that is in-stock on the website and then later, before it ships, it becomes out-of stock so that it won't be a part of your order anymore the entire order doesn't ship! Also, they won't tell you about it until you contact them. I waited 8 days for an order that was supposed to ship in 6 at the most. The customer service guy told me when I expressed my dissatisfaction with that whole system that I could call them to check on the order next time. So apparently it's my job to make sure that a website ships my orders, not theirs. It's an awful system and that was the first and last time I will be ordering from thinkgeek.com. SO BAD!"
"I bought a US$ 24.99 item from ThinkGeek. I also paid and extra US$ 56.64 to send it to Brazil.
I had no otpion but to go with DHL (ThinkGeek does not allow you to send it by USPS). Now DHL says that if I really want the item I will have to pay them an extra US$ 105 for shipping and "handling". Nowhere was I informed about this extra charge. It it was sent by USPS I would not have to pay this at all. (Now ThinkGeek refers me to some part on their website that says "extra charges may apply".)
ThinkGeek has been refusing to send me the item by USPS or even to refund me.
In the end, I paid ThinkGeek US$ 81.85 for a product that I will never receive.
They could solve this by sending me the product now by USPS. It would cost them US$ 10 to do so. Their horrible Customer Service refuses to do so."
"I feel cheated. I ordered an item, and 3 hours after I placed my order, the item is marked sold out. I ordered this for a birthday gift, and was so excited that I found it.
You can understand my disappointment getting an email days later filled with bad jokes and this message:
"This causes the payment to still have gone through, but the order does not register as paid on our site. The item you requested in this order has completely sold out, and we cannot complete the order since Timmy misplaced our Sonic Screw Driver in a recent banana pudding incident. We realize that this is inconvenient for you, but in order to get the other items you will need to replace your order."
The customer support assured me that they tried over 50 times to "link" my payment and my order together. It's a shame that none of those 50 attempts was to call me and have me replace my order.
Now I'm on the email notification list (they wouldn't even put me on a queue after messing up my order and taking my money), and I will be waiting for 2 more months if I even want to purchase this item anymore.
Don't buy from ThinkGeek unless you have ample time to work around their incompetence, and you don't mind learning that your order was invalidated days ago without your knowledge because of nothing other than their own payment system."
"My family has been buying cool stuff from ThinkGeek for years. We try to shop smart to keep the costs down by waiting for sales and buying early (like two months early for Christmas - usually good sales happening in October, actually) but occasionally we get the last minute item (like a couple of t-shirts before a kid's b-day - ordered 1 week before and they got there in four days - standard shipping) We have loved the quality of everything and never found anything to complain about with ThinkGeek toys. In fact, I am amazed more people aren't posting rave reviews. There really isn't any other one-stop e-shop that can beat ThinkGeek for awesome, cool, hilarious and thought provoking toys for the intelligencia. Fun stuff! Great customer service always for us - and we are no one especially special - aside from having good taste and realistic expectations! Go ThinkGeek! Rah-Rah Timmy!"
"I used to love this site, and I've never had any problems til now. Last night I ordered 3 items for an anniversary gift for my boyfriend, one of which I realized about an hour later that he would have no use for, and tried to cancel it. I was informed that I couldn't cancel the order, and needed to contact customer service. The live chat was offline, and their call center was no longer open, so I was forced to wait til 9 this morning when they opened. I contacted someone on the live chat to cancel it, only to be told that it's already been processed and I'm going to have to wait til it gets here to return it. Are you kidding me?! It's been less than 12 hours since I ordered it and I can't cancel it?! They also outright refuse to refund my money, they're only willing to give store credit and I'm going to have to pay to ship this item back. It's very unlikely that I will ever order from this store again."
"I am disappointed that I purchased from ThinkGeek on Wednesday and they announced a sitewide sale on Friday. When I inquired if they would adjust the price on my purchase, they said they weren't able to do that. They have just lost a customer for future purchases."
"Been using this site for 4 years and nothing has gone wrong. These reviews are off portions by a mile. Worse situation was they didn't a tiny pc badge and they shipped that to my house in ny by a day. Whose writing these reviews, competition?"
"Before ordering: Looking for "infectious disease ball" and "Rubik's Cube Mug." Both out of stock. The "email me when back in stock" function didn't work. Rubik's mug went from an est. return a 1 day, to 2 days, to 1-3 weeks, to 1 day, back in stock, sold out to be back again in 1-3 weeks. Infectious disease ball in stock day after I placed order. Annoying.
Receiving order: Ordered "brewzkey bottle opener" but it did not come in my package. I called and asked for a replacement. 7 days later, there is a package on my doorstep with promo material and bags of air, BUT NO BOTTLE OPENER. I am calling for a refund tomorrow.
My glass laboratory beaker mug had a paint stain on the glass (same paint they use for the lines) and a bubble in the glass. I was able to scrape off the paint with a razor, but the bubble on the lip of the mug remains. Poor quality.
My oil slick smart mass putty can was dented, no plastic seal, and could easily have been previously used.
Not at all happy with ThinkGeek. When I get my money back for the bottle opener I will never be in contact with them again. I am typically an easy going customer, too."
"Switch and bait! The items sold here are not as-pictured. I saw the same toy I ordered in a real Kidrobot store and it was nothing like the garbage I received from ThinkGeek. Totally a knock-off product. I ONLY got refunded 75% of the cost, after paying to ship it back myself. Its not my fault the product they shipped is not what they advertised. I should be entitled to a 100% refund. Buyer BEWARE!
I also ordered a sweatshirt that cost $60 and the pocket ripped after 1 month. "
"NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!!
I live in Australia, and ordered my whole family christmas gifts on this website. I ordered them on the 19th of Nov, and they didnt arrive until the 3rd of Janurary. When the company was contacted, all i was advised of that i had not paid the extra $10 dollars or so for a tracking number.
So what? How are you sending these items? Via raft accross the pacific ocean!!?
In this day and age it does not take a month and a half to air ship a parcel.
Also, The shipping prices were OUTRAGEOUS to the point where it was more cost effective to seperate my purchase into two seperate purchases, otherwise my shipping would have been significantly higher than how much the items cost. Oh by the way, I bought a book, a shirt and two headbands with headphones stitched in. THESE ITEMS WERE NOT HEAVY.
I clearly did not have these items for Christmas day (when I was physically with my family), and I now have to pay to ship them accross the country as I live on the other side of the nation to my parents/brother/sister.
I have never had any problems purchasing things from america, england, or anywhere else in the world - Just thinkgeek.com
Never, ever, EVER again."
"Disappointed at this website. Don't order from them if you are from anywhere outside of America, even if you live in Canada. Never received order, and their international shipping process is definitely not perfect. Customer service was not helpful either till 6 weeks later. It's a pity since I used to like this website a lot. "
