"I love ThinkGeek! I've gotten a few things from them. Their products are awesome. Sometimes educational, sometimes fun. Always letting my geek show; proudly. They use UPS and I'll gladly pay the little extra for the shipping as long as they don't EVER send something with FedEx. If I have the extra and they have a free shipping going on, I'll order enough to get that. I put things i the cart and had to walk away from my computer forgetting about it. A couple days later, I got an email offering me $10 off my order :) "
"DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING SHIPPED TO IRELAND
I sent my sister a GIFT of a t-shirt for her birthday but when it was delivered to her, she had to cough up an extra $33 on the spot.
I paid $20.99 for the shirt, and a little over $25 for the shipping to Ireland. When it arrived (this is her birthday gift from me, completed with gift message!) was SLAPPED WITH A BILL of €26 (about $33) - this was about 75% of the overall order total!!!! Absolute RIP OFF and this is not very clear when you buy from them. It is buried in their Help pages to give them their due, but for anyone in Ireland thinking of ordering from them, it's going to work out A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE THAN IT LOOKS initially.
Basically, between the extra slapped on taxes, the shipping and the shirt, we paid $80 - the shirt is advertised at $20.99!!!!!!!!
ThinkGeek state on their website that this has nothing to do with them. I wonder if that means me never ordering from them again has nothing to do with them either?...
VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED."
"Great website, shipping is a bit pricey but LOVE LOVE LOVE the merchandise, I got my Doctor Who sonic screwdriver from here! Best website for a geek like me, super reliable"
"A friend sent me a mug from ThinkGeek as a gift. The decal on it was damaged, so the company issued me an e-certificate for the cost of the item, but I had to pay shipping for the replacement item that I ordered. I also ordered something my son had been wanting for months. I hid it for his birthday and then couldn't find it (it was in a new hiding place since he'd found the others!), and by the time I did, it was past the 90-day return period. He built it and it immediately broke. He did nothing wrong. I called them, and they said too bad, it's past 90 days. So I asked for a supervisor, but no one was allegedly available. One was supposed to call me back but never did. I finally emailed them and asked for a full credit so I could order him a replacement gift. They only offered me half credit. And I'd have to pay shipping again for the replacement. I again requested a full credit, but they denied my request in an email full of typos. This company does not stand behind the products they sell. I will not buy from them again!"
"After the whole process went smoothly, something happened between the order confirmation page and the final step. ThinkGeek charged my account for the price of the order, but kept the actual order as "incomplete!" I emailed them IMMEDIATELY after this happened, and still no response! (It's been about 4-5 days)
I still want my talking Dalek pillow, but I don't want to have that money wasted for nothing! I am going to continue calling and emailing to see if I can get this sorted out.
I'll keep this review updated as to ThinkGeek's responses."
"DO NOT BUY ANYTHING COLLECTIBLE FROM THESE GUYS. If you are a collector, and wish to buy action figures and you like to keep everything in the box, look elsewhere. I have ordered 9 action figures from them, 5 out of those came damaged. They do not know how to package things, even after I got an exchange--some boxes were still beat to hell. What a horrible experience!"
"Complained about receiving incorrect product and was ignored. "
"I actually think my latest correspondence with them will be the best review about this 'never buy again' online store:
Hello,
I have ordered from your site 2 guitar T-shirts and ordered it through UPS.
Now that the package has arrived I see that I need to pay a local tax because the delivery fee was included in the total invoice.
I would like to ask that you send UPS an updated invoice with the price of the products only, so I won't have to pay the unnecessary VAT.
Order ID: 36a84e9a1
Thanks,
Luna

to me
Hi Luna,
Thank you for contacting ThinkGeek.
Thank you for your recent ThinkGeek purchase. We regret that you are unhappy with the fees you are being asked to pay by your nations customs office. However, we have no control over these fees since these are determined by the government of the country to which we are shipping.
When you placed your order you were directed to our policy on international shipping during the checkout procedure. This policy states that if you refuse to pay the customs fees when your order arrives, the shipment will be returned to ThinkGeek and we will be charged the customs fees plus return shipping costs.
Since we are then obligated to pay these fees, we must then deduct them as well as the original shipping costs from any credit you would otherwise obtain from the merchandise.
Please refer to the following URL:

Unfortunately, we have no control over these customs fees, which is why we do list this information on our website. Regrettably, we cannot issue a refund for your shipping or customs fees when you refuse the shipment or return it to us.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and please feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.

It's a shame that you don't seem to have the basic capability to understand what you read.
And it's shameful that you actually have automatic template responses such as the one bellow.
It just shows how little you think of your costumers.
I'm actually going to spread my message and your reply on the web so that people will think really hard before they buy anything from ThinkGeek.
I didn't contact you to complain about the fees, I asked you to send an updated invoice with the price of the product and the price of the shipment separated.
However, since it took you 4 days to answer and since your response is this ludicrous template bellow, It is actually to late now.
Never again will I buy at ThinkGeek and I will be sure to warn all my the people I know about you."
"I've purchased products with ThinkGeek in the past and, despite the price of some products, have generally been pleased with their services. So you can understand my disappointment and anger when I found out my order for the Limited Edition Portal Gun Replica was cancelled by them. Not only was it cancelled, I received no email or call informing me of this. To make matters worse it says that I received a refund but I'm not sure I actually did. PayPal claims I did, but I do not see the money in my bank account nor do I have the money in my PayPal.
I talked to customer service about this and they claimed it's an unfortunate occurrence but it's a glitch in how purchases are handled. Sometimes they come up simply as blank purchases. Thanks ThinkGeek! Glad to see your system is sketchy. You know, the least you can do is call the person who is trying to purchase something instead of cancelling their order without so much as an attempt to make contact.
The likelihood I purchase from ThinkGeek again is quite low. They're not the only game in town, and I know I've never had these problems with any other store.
I do thank Matthew G., the representative I talked to, for helping me. He was responsive, courteous, and at least got me an answer even if I did not like what it was. "
"as with any store, you have to ready EVERYTHING before placing the order. I made the mistake of ordering something totally diffrent than what was expected. (my fault). The reps were very good about kle"
"I saw in an email from these awesome ppl that they had zombie bunny chocolates for easter. I had to buy my grandpa one for a gag gift, b/c he's the kind of person you buy thinkgeek's USB missile launcher for christmas... It arrived safe and sound in only a couple of business days.
Overall great satisfaction with this company, will probably feed my star wars addiction by buying some of their lightsabers sometime, too. ^_^"
"Lack maturity as a retailer. They use inferior order delivery systems and then blame the customer's local government when the the order ends up in another city. Force people to use exceptionally pricey couriers that as mentioned above are incapable of delivering to areas easily accessed by federal mail services. They stole $95 and a pile of my time from me... I will hate them forever or about 10 years. And they ruined my relationship with Geeknet which I was fond of until recently. Z/Z"
"I had a problem with a recent order with "TG" and they corrected the matter efficiently and courteously. TY "TG" you have some great lil' monkeys working for you!"
"I order stuff from Think Geek ALL the time and I've never had a single issue. All of my Christmas presents and stocking stuffers came from here and everyone loved them. The last thing I bought was a jellyfish lamp that changes colors, its so cool! If you have a Twitter account be sure to follow them b/c they're really funny and helpful, too!!!"
"I guess it's true you can't please everyone, but I have had nothing but exceptional experiences with ThinkGeek.com. I have ordered multiple times and really have no complaints. I received a damaged item (clearly damaged by the shipper) and they did not hesitate to send me a replacement immediately. They even refunded excess duty charges due to the replacement order (as I live in Canada). No site is perfect and mistake can and will happen no matter where you shop, but these guys really are on top of their game and provide excellent customer service. "
