"I placed an order on a Wednesday for a few XMAS items and paid for overnight shipping. Two recipients were leaving the area on Friday, so I needed the items quickly. The items didn't ship for two days and now we're into the weekend, expecting the package on Monday. I called up Thinkgeek and got the, "Yes, we ship overnight, but we handle the order internally from one to three days." I guess I was luckly in that it was only two days.
UPS claims an emergency delay on Monday, so the package gets delivered on Tuesday. So, six days for an overnight package. I learned my lesson."
"Thinkgeek
I bought a Mini Global GPS Tracking device. The catalog says nothing about needing a SIM Card in- order for this unit to work. When I called Thinkgeek I got told from one employee a SIM Card could be taken out of an old cell phone; however that is only true if you have service on that old cell phone. I called again and another employee told me that I could buy a SIM Card from Radio Shack, which isn’t true because you need to buy a cell phone plan, they don’t just sell a SIM Card. Then I called back and was told by the third employee that T-mobile sold a SIM CARD for like $7 online and $10 in the store, which again isn’t true as the T-mobile employee told me that I needed a plan which was $49 a month and the $10 SIM was for a second phone line. In order to get a SIM Card you need a cell phone plan with air time and the cheapest one I could find was $30 a month at Walmart. So I went to Walmart and got a $10 Phone in order to get the SIM Card with a 30 hour air time prepaid card to check out the GPS Tracker. I then did everything the instruction stated to do for the GPS Tracker and the unit did not work. On top of that I was given computer software from Thinkgeek to track the device, but no password came with the unit or with the instruction for the computer software. I called again to ask help with the unit and a password for the GPS Tracking software; however again no one at Thinkgeek knew anything about the GPS Tracker and they just told me to return the unit. So I have software on my computer, no password to operate it and I am currently waiting on a new GPS tracker from Thinkgeek to arrive.
Solution; If Thinkgeek is going to have a phone help desk, Thinkgeek needs to train the employees on their products so they don’t sound ridiculous on the phone stating how to get a SIM Card or have no clue on the password or the device they are selling, and to just return product.
Thinkgeek also needs to sell items that work, because I noticed on this review webpage I am not the only one that has stated their products don’t work.

"ThinkGeek.com has totally and completely saved my Christmas, or at least made my shopping so much easier. I have a family that is pretty dorky and has a wonderful sense of humor, however it's often really hard to find good gifts for them. Thankfully I spent some time perusing their site and found the perfect gifts for my family. Shipping and handling was pretty cheap considering the number of things I bought in one go and I was super pleased to see that everything was delivered within a work week. Now all I have left to do is the wrapping..."
"I ordered 10 Mini Pet Cacti (as gifts). A half of them (all the pink ones) were in unacceptable shape: looked dead, detached from the bottom of the bottle. I believe they at least looked dead before they were sent to me and definitely looked different from the picture on the website. Actually, all the Cacti looked ugly but I din't have time to buy other gifts. So, I returned the most terrible of them and a month ago received an email: "Your recent ThinkGeek return (RMA XXX) has been received and processed. The refund amount should appear on your PayPal balance shortly." It was exactly one month ago. I didn't get any refund since. From my previous purchase("Tux Droid" on 07-22-2010) I can tell that the merchandise there are often not working or discontinued, customer support is useless, and they return money only after several phone calls. I used to buy Christmas gifts from them but now I will definitely avoid dealing with ThinkGeek. Something has been broken there.

12/20/2010 Update
I sent an answer to the Billy's message below a week ago (12/13/2010). Thinkgeek keeps silence. No reply, no refund, of course."
"I had great customer service.
I ordered a travel mug from thinkgeek. The package arrived quickly. However, I opened up the package to find an empty box! I was so frustrated because the mug was to be a gift and I dreaded contacting customer service to try and make them believe me that I had never received the item. Called customer service, got a human on the phone, they sent me another mug with expedited shipping. The mug got to me in time for my sister's birthday and she claims the mug is one of the most creative bday gifts she has ever received. And now I've got a funny story to boot!"
"I’m a huge fan of ThinkGeek.com, it is the digital Shangri-La of nerdy stuff. My most recent purchases being an ethanol flask for my brother and an 8-bit tie. I usually pick something up off of ThinkGeek every two months. I love getting gifts for people from the site because it’s usually an awesome gift, and I’m really lazy. "
"Here is an update:
This product did not ever get shipped to me. I responded to the guy below and he eventually called me and would 'take whatever measures necessary' to correct the problem, but the package never arrived. Apparently they were having some 'trouble' with a new distribution facility. I am waiting to see if they actually refunded me anything. I don't hold out much hope.

These guys are a joke. I ordered something from them for next day delivery which didn't arrive for a week. When I called they said they take 48 business hours to process an order (wtf) - so 48 hours + processing day + pickup day + delivery day + weekend (even tho they say they process Friday and Saturday orders) = 1 week.
Sad - don't buy from these guys
"
"I love ThinkGeek.com it really has all the nerdy stuff my geek heart craves. I just got my Samurai Sword Umbrella and though it is completely unnecessary, it is phenomenally awesome. Thinkgeek.com is where I go when I want to buy something I probably shouldn't buy, but I know I'll love."
"I received an order of Bucky Balls from thinkgeek as a Christmas gift. The product is great, and is tons of fun. There's only one problem - it was missing one ball. Without that one, it's impossible to make most of the best things that can be made.
I contacted thinkgeek customer service, who was more than happy to send me a few extras to complete my set. I was glad that they were sending some spares, as these look to be easy to lose. They tried 3 times to send replacements, none of which made it here. I found out why on the 3rd shipment - they were shipping extremely powerful magnetic balls in a standard white envelope. I can see the outline of where 9 buckyballs used to be, and the holes through which they exited. I haven't heard back from thinkgeek in a while - I think they gave up.
So, great product, good try from customer service, but failure because of an issue you wouldn't expect from geeks. I'm still left with an only partially usable product. The only upside is the mental picture I have of those 9 tiny magnetic balls coming loose and wreaking havoc on the postal machinery they stick to.
EDIT: It took 2 tries, but the people below took excellent care of me. I not only got a whole new set of bucky balls, they sent me all three of the new executive colors, as well. The service was way beyond what I expected. 5 stars all the way."
"I have been ordering from ThinkGeek for several years now. The service has always been great and the products are always a hit at parties and events. This past Christmas I ordered a few products for a person that is extremely hard to buy for. It was a big hit! Shipping was fast and the products were exactly as pictured. Thanks for making it easy to shop for hard to buy for people! Having the suggestions and featured products on the site really helps!"
"ThinkGeek's shipping policy that they do not, under any circumstances, deliver on Saturday is available on a link to the order page. Paying for 2 day delivery for an order placed on Wednesday, I thought I would receive the order on Saturday. There was no indication when I placed the order that that was the case. If ThinkGeek is so geeky, why don't they inform you upfront that you won't receive an order in two days when you pay for two days shipping. I returned the order but have been charged for the shipping. Customer service will not refund me the shipping charges. I will never shop at ThinkGeek again."
"They have really interesting items, however, many times you can shop around and get them for cheaper at other places and their shipping is very high.
However, still a great company with good customer service, and good shipping speeds. Everything I got was exactly how it was described, and even though it was a little pricey, very happy with the products I received."
"Thinkgeek has provided wonderful customer service yet again. I ordered a bag from them just after Christmas. Unfortunately, UPS decided to reschedule the delivery date twice so the item arrived much later than expected. I emailed thinkgeek customer service and they reimbursed me the shipping costs.
I've purchased from this website in the past and the shipping has always been fast and in good condition. This was the first time that the shipping container looked like it had been dragged through the mud. The item inside though was in new condition still.
I will definitely be purchasing from thinkgeek in the future. Thank you for your wonderful customer service!"
"XMas order arrived on time and with no problems. I have been a customer for many years and have been very satisfied so far. "
"I ordered 5 game systems off their site, there was no drop down menu with options and the site was clearly advertising the system, all you did was click the order button, so I did, and I received 5 controllers instead. I was told the item was actually more than 6 times the price advertised, the rep I chatted with didn't seem to find this much of an issue or feel the need to appologize for his company's gross error right before Christmas. I get to return my items fortunately but at this point I'm now out the majority of my presents and left trying to figure something else out the night before Christmas Eve.
Perhaps if you're so "geeky" you should learn how to properly write a website so you don't screw over your customers. Buy somewhere else they aren't even the cheapest."
