"I was a bit skeptical of purchasing somthing here becuase of bad reviews. However, i did have a good experince, my non-stop naruto cd came in on time. When i had a few questions regarding my order i got a timly repsonse. In my opionion is that its not the store but the person hadling your order."

"I ordered 4 boxes of Super Robot Wars plastic models from them, since I've searched all over the Internet and eBay, they are the only shop that have those items still listed as "in stock". I placed the order on June 11 for three items, and emailed them about the last one since they have some issue with the system that I couldn't add it to the cart. The famous Alex emailed me the next day and fixed it up. So far the communication has been prompt.

I added the last item and received confirmation for all four items on July 5. Then I got an email with the PDF version of the invoice on July 17, and they charged my credit card for the full amount of the order on July 18. So I thought, good, they should arrive in a couple weeks. Yeah right.

I emailed them on Aug 7 to get an update since I didn't see anything in my mail box. On August 16, they emailed me that ALL four items are on backorder. This is when I started going WTF. If they are all on backorder, why didn't they tell me in the first place? It took them two months to go through the inventory to realize that? And they have the guts to charge my card on backorder items BEFORE they are shipped.

Famous Alex replied THREE WEEKS after my email on Aug 23 of course asking me to exchange for something else. I told them to just refund my order. And on Aug 27 famous Alex said he saw some stock and would get the order moving. Oooookay.

By Sept 25 I emailed them again asking where my money is. Famous Alex told me he'd get his manager to issue the refund, sounding like he already issued the refund some time ago. Bleh.

Over the next several months, I email them basically every month asking for my money back. On Dec 9, famous Alex said he'd get his manager to expedite the refund. Suuuuure.

But interestingly enough, they sent me an order tracking email on Dec 12 saying my order has been processed and shipped. I thought, finally my stuff is coming!

Dec 22, my ITEM arrived. Of the four items I ordered and got charged, only one of them arrived. Of course the order tracking email never mentioned which, if all, of the items in the order were shipped.

So immediately I emailed them for the remaining three items. Since then I've been emailing them every other week but no response so far. I'm considering phoning them up just for the heck of it.

Anyone tried if there's anybody to answer the phone? The other option of course is to threaten them with legal actions. If any one has any ideas what what options I have that could either get me my items or my money back that'd be greatly appreciated.

"So I ended up ordering from Toys n' Joys for a Gundam 00 Orange Robot Mascot Haro Toy and decided to do a little research AFTER I placed the order and paid via credit card (for some reason, PayPal was rejecting my cards, so I had no choice). Despite the rather discouraging reviews I found on this website, save for the latest one, I took the risk instead of asking for a refund immediately after seeing this site.
However, I do not regret this one tiny bit! Although I ordered the day before New Year's Eve and I know how busy every store must be around this holiday season, my Orange-kun along with a Totoro Cellphone Holder I also ordered for a friend came within 10 days INCLUDING their vacation time from December 31st-January 3rd, neatly packed together in a 1x1.5 foot box.
I couldn't have asked for better service, really. I only had a little throw off from when I emailed Alex Le (the same guy everyone's been receiving replies from) three times, one of which was more urgent than the other two emails, and he replied promptly, on the very same day. The other two he never responded to, but because they were apprehensive/reluctant-buyer types of questions, I'm sure it got annoying. I don't mind though because none of the items were damaged when I received them and I got my Haro toy working within a day even though I had sent him an email asking him if the product was defective because Haro refused to move his ears after opening him! However, that's been fixed with a bit of reading and understanding the toy, and I probably should not have jumped to the conclusion that Toys n' Joys had sent me a defective product, or the Haro toy that didn't flap its ears from the website.
For future buyers who are hesitant from buying from this company, you should understand that some of the exclusive Japanese merchandise like Totoro posters or plushies or novelty toys may take some time to get to Toys n' Joys from their warehouse or store in Asia and then must take another 1-2 weeks to get to your home. I live in the United States and had no problem getting my items within a week, so I don't think place really matters for the lengthy periods some people on this review site had to endure. The website is a bit messy and hard to navigate around, but it truly is a treasure trove for the Otaku and gaming fans like myself.
Definitely an A grade service, in my opinion. Overall, Haro was a bit costly but I'm sure it's because he is a discontinued rare toy. I thought the Totoro Cellphone Holder was pretty fairly priced though. The Customer E-mail Service could be a bit better, but he got to the most important email regarding my items' shipment, and that's all that truly mattered to me.

"righto... i read countless bad reviews about toys n joys, but im from england and this was the only place that stocked gundam haro toys my daughter wanted for christmas, so i ordered any ways , i spoke to alex at toys n joys he told me the one i wanted was out of stock, would i like a orange one as the one i wanted was green, i said i would love one but couldnt afford the extra money, so any ways i got used to the fact i wasnt going to get it till after christmas, and then the haro arrived on the door 10 days before xmas in quick time and in orange , so alex actully lost money by making sure we recived are haro! i would defo order again ! "

"Man, I feel really stupid for not reading reviews for this store before buying something. I guess it was one of my first purchases online, so maybe I have an excuse?

Anyways, like practically all the reviews say, this store only exists to collect money without giving...well, anything in my case. Here's my history: I ordered a totoro wall scroll from Toys N Joys on September 19th (remember this date!). I get an email stating they received my order, all is good. On October 5th, I send an email to them, asking if the item has been shipped yet. They ask for my order number the same day (so far so good), and I provide it for them same day....then hear nothing back. On October 17th I ask them again about my order, and a WEEK later (Oct 23rd), they tell me "I will check and let you know." Uh. Okay.

On November 5th I ask him (this Alex guy everyone's talking about) AGAIN about the status. They tell me the item is coming in tomorrow, and if they can ship it then. So to summarize, they haven't even shipped my item and didn't tell me. At this time I already received another item I bought on the same day from another vendor. Anyways, I tell him "if it can be shipped immediately, then yes. Otherwise, I'd like a refund." He tells me "ok sir." That's it.

On November 25th...I don't know why I waited so long...I finally contacted him and told Alex that I want a refund because the item obviously has not been shipped yet. He asks if I want to "replace with another style" and I say, obviously, uh, no. I just want my money back. He replies "ok will do sir.." That's it, again.

Now (Nov 26th) I'm waiting to be reimbursed. I realize it's a holiday, so I'll wait till Monday (Nov 30th) to see if I got any money back. If not, more emails? I'm not sure what to do anymore, this guy just keeps on ignoring me and ripping me off. I got so fed up, which is why today I went online to find where I can post a crappy rating for this store, and found this place. If I get my money back, I'll edit this post to finish the story. Until then, it's been 10 weeks since my order and I haven't gotten my item, money back, or anything. I might have well ordered my item today instead of Sept 19th.

::EDIT:: December 10th. I've been emailing them non-stop for the past few weeks. No response whatsoever. I'll start looking around to see what legal actions I can take.

::EDIT:: March 15th. Just received the wall scroll. Not sure if it's still a fail, or just not as big of a fail. Anyways, I was talking to a friend who ordered from them too, and he said he didn't have too much trouble. I guess it's a hit or miss--either it works out, or you get screwed over. It's like a lottery system, your call if you want to take the chance.

"I am an avid anime/action figure collector who has ordered from several smaller websites for about a decade now, and this is the very first time I have had to turn someone in to the BBB. After waiting for a month without hearing anything, I filed a PayPal dispute. They said they'd refund me. Nothing happened. Then I turned them in to the BBB a week later, mostly so I could contribute to their F rating. That did the trick, but it was nearly TWO MONTHS later when this was all resolved. AVOID!"

"Ok so I placed an order at this store before I saw any of the reviews, it was my fault that I did not research anything before making a purchase. When i placed my order i was very happy to finally find my final fantasy figures that i have been looking for a long time, but then I came across this page and i became terrified that something like what is written would happen to me and I was afraid of being scammed i was getting ready to contact the BBB, but I had no problems with toys n joys, I contacted them and i got a very quick response that same day they shipped my order a little late but that was ok by me.So for me i had a pretty good experience with toys n joys. I got what i wanted at a fair price and they were very helpful."

"I placed an order on June 29th received conformation that they had received it promptly the 30th, after that I waited two weeks and eventually received an Invoice on July 11th stating that my order would ship "soon".

After waiting about 3-4days (13th or 14th) I sent an email asking whats going on with my order and heard nothing back as of 16th I decided to do some searching and found this page.

I decided to send an email to them stating that I'd like to cancel my order and told them if they were unwilling to refund the charges I'd either call my credit card company and reverse the charges through them, or the link someone else provided ic3.gov

(as of yet I haven't received the item and assume they still have not shipped it)

approximately 15-30mins have passed since I sent the email and promptly received an email stating Quoted directly from the email,

"Aloha,

We thank you for your order, but regret that we could not fulfill your order. Assuming we did not ship further product(s) of this order, we will pull and cancel the outstanding order as requested. We will also refund you if we have already charged you for the order. From the day we submit the refund please allow 1-4 weeks for the transaction to be posted to your account.

Thank you for shopping at Toys N' Joys Online!"

had given me a proper response to my initial email they'd probably still have a sale, But that depends on if they had the item in stock or were planning on giving me the run around like others posted here.

"Unbelievable store. Their business is shady to the fact that they list things that they dont have stock of. I've asked for a refund and its been 5 days since that guy Alex told me he'll refund me.

update: i reported the website through ic3.gov and immediately after receiving a letter from the office of consumer protection in hawaii, they refunded my $20. these guys are crooks, especially Alex Le whos the owner of the store. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM.

"WHY HASN'T TOYS-N-JOYS BEEN CLOSED DOWN??!!!

I've tried 4 times to order from them, and every time, I've gotten nothing but problems! First time I ordered a Kamen Rider Agito motorcycle, but instead they make me wait over 3 months to send me the wrong toy--a Kamen Rider Gills cycle I already had! It took about 5 phone calls from NY to HI just to get someone to speak to me and to return the cycle. Once that agony was done, they sent me the correct toy--BUT IT CLEARLY HAD A BROKEN FRONT WHEEL! Yet another month of unanswered phone calls before they finally sent me a brand new one.

Stupidly, I ordered something again from them thinking that it was just a one-time problem! Nope--same story. This time I ordered a Medicom Kamen Rider 12-inch figure, but instead, they send me the wrong character IN THE WRONG SIZE! I paid over $120 and got an item worth less than $50. Once again, another 5-6 long-distance phone calls and I finally got my money back, but I lost out on the postage when I had to send the wrong figure back.

Just last week, my friend ordered a set of figures from them without consulting me on these rip-off artists, and now he's getting the runaround. He spoke with this Alex Le, who assured him that the order was "easy to re-stock"--yeah, so easy that now he just got an e-mail stating that the order is back-ordered, and to top it all off, the figures listed in the e-mail is completely wrong! Just another typical theft by Toys-N-Joys!

I can't believe they have 2 stores--I guess one store ripping people off isn't enough for this group of con artists! Everyone here, I feel your pain in getting the runaround with the long-distance calls and the rude responses.

If I didn't live on the East Coast, it might be worth flying out just to confront these idiots!

"I STRONGLY AGREE!!!! We had ordered 2 DVD players with 2 separate credit cards. One of these were for a birthday gift in 3 weeks. The order went through and then we waited 2 whole weeks and received NOTHING. We paid for 3-5 day priority mail shipping. We placed a call to them, now keep in mind we are calling long distance... the state of PA to Hawaii. They keep you on hold for over 25 minutes every time you call... until you get tired of waiting and hang up. Finally we got through and they told us our DVD were on back order.... BUT WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED. So we then were charged for the DVD players a few days later when they still were on back order. We called again and "Lena" told us that they were getting some more in stock and that would be in 3 days. So then we waited another week and I made yet another phone call. Lena told me she would have a manager call me back... HAHAHAHA that NEVER happened. I had to call yet again.... finally speaking to a "supposed" manager "Art". Well, he was very unsympathetic and very uncaring. He would offer no discount on anything. So he told he would upgrade the shipping to TWO day delivery, but ONLY for one of them. Well, whats funny is that the "supposedly upgraded" one came AFTER the standard shipping one... WHAT A DISCOUNT.Well, to top that off... when they finally arrived.... NEITHER OF THEM WERE THE CORRECT PRODUCT. We ordered 2 purple DVD players. The first package was a BLUE, not even the same style we ordered, DVD player which was $10.00 cheaper than what we ordered and paid. The second package was a PINK, not even the same style we ordered, DVD player which was $10.00 cheaper than what we ordered and paid.
So making the 6th phone call and after waiting on the phone another 20 minutes to get through to someone, they told us the process to return the items and supposedly get a refund. Again, LENA told us it would only be 2-3 days for our refund to be processed. We shipped them back THE SAME DAY AT THE SAME TIME. Both priority mail 2-3 day shipping!! But we got smart, we put tracking delivery confirmation on them. They were delivered to Them in Hawaii on March 31st 2009. I made YET ANOTHER phone call on April 7th. I was told they JUST received them by LENA. ( A HUGE LIE ) Postal confirmation confirmed their delivery of March 31st. Which I brought to her attention. Lena then said that it will take 2 days to go through to the return department. I stated it has been 7 days. She then said the return was processed on the 7th. I FINALLY received my money back on April 9th, 2009. However.... the 2nd DVD player we returned, at the same time and same day.... They NEVER refunded to this day. We waited on the phone for 25 minutes and had to call from another phone at the same time to get through. And again... spoke to LENA. Now that she was questioned about never receiving the other refund, she now said it takes 3-10 days for refunds. Bringing to her attention that the first one ( SHIPPED THE SAME TIME AND SAME WAY AND DELIVERED AT THE SAME TIME ) still wasn't refunded... she insisted that it takes 10 days. Why did the other one go through and received after 2 days but the second still after 6 days hasn't even been received???????
THIS PLACE IS A JOKE AND THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY. BEWARE.... DO NOT ORDER FROM TOYS N JOYS EVERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are the worst business in the world. They take your money, LIE, send the wrong product to make you think they sent your package to get you off their back, then take a month to refund HALF your money if that!!!

"This is definitely the worst online shop I have ever came over so far in my entire life.

I placed my order on Jan 21st for a plush toy which was advertised in stock. The second day I received the email confirming item ready to ship. However, it never came. Called and emailed for countless times but no response. Just received the email saying the item is out of stock. I requested refund and so far no result. I just got one email this morning (April 8th) stating the item is out of stock again.

Just like other people said in their reviews, this store is absolutely not professional at all. They don't care about the customers and never ship or ship the wrong item. And for more people, it's more like a fraud because even if you request refund, they rarely refund your money. The store is totally a thieving and dishonest company. Items advertised on their website are usually out of stock and they never tell you.

I'm still struggling to get my money back. For the future buyers, stay away from this company as far as possible!

"I've placed an order with Toys N' Joys in December,I haven't got any answer so I've e-mailed them and realized it seemed my credit-card infos weren't correct.I've placed the order again and on the 9th of January my credit card has been charged for the total amount,only to find out later the goods weren't available.I've told them to replace
those with others.Finally on the 26th of January I was told my oder was shipped.But
things would have come separeted.Well,I've received only 1 thing,but not the other 2 toys i've ordered and paid for.So,I've started to send mails,faxes.And guess what??No reply at all.If this is their way to make

"I wish I had checked this site before ordering from these clowns. Read most of the negatives on here and I have the exact same experience. The customer service reps they have are all monkeys with the same generic response. 'We will email you shortly'. I ordered 6 figures, got 4. Supposedly the other 2 were backordered. When I called to inquire (day or delivery) they had just gotten a shipment. They told me I would get my order in a week, an email about it, yada yada. Low and behold 2 weeks later and nothing. I called back to find out what happened. The lady I spoke to this time claimed they had 'sold out before they could pull my back order'. Funny, she had no idea which 2 figures I didn't receive. By this logic, I will NEVER get my items because THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT PART OF MY ORDER IS UNFULFILLED! They are liars and trained to parrot a list of generic responses to delay fullfilling their obligations. I've already initiated a paypal dispute. I no longer want my order AT ALL now. I can find all 6 figures easily from other hobby sites. I am further demanding they pay for return shipping. If paypal can't deal with them, I'm 100% sure AMEX can. Long story short, DO NOT BUY FROM TOYSNJOYS. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!"
