"I WAS SKEPTICAL!!! But after much research, on a Saturday evening, I bid on and won a Panasonic DMR-ES46VS DVD Recorder / VHS Combo @ $139. I received an email confirmation the same evening. Shipping confirmation was received just after mindnite Sunday(18 hrs later)-- pretty efficient, especially considering it was a weekend. Received the product within the week via ground as stated (original manufacture's box, accessories and warranty) in excellent condition - was double boxed. Shipping charge was clearly stated at auction ($27) and charged as quoted = total $166. Saved so much bought 2 year extended replacement warranty to start after the manufacturer's 90 days ($39). Total cost $205 for highly rated DVR good for replacement through mid 2009 that's running $260-400+ today. Registered product w/ Panasonic and it works like a charm. I will buy from UBid again without hesitation."
"Bought a car charger from them for my Motorola phone. They stated it is an OEM model with a Motorola logo on it. Guess what I received? A non-OEM made by some unknown company. I could get this for $5 shipped from eBay easily. I paid $10 to them. "OEM" means original equipment manufacturer. I should've got a genuine Motorola product, not a third-party aftermarket type. They didn't really reply to email. I decided not to send back because it isn't worth it. By reviews here, you really have to pay attention to their shipping charge and description especially when buying "refurbished" stuffs."
"Quality and Safe products, shipping and tech support could be better/faster."
"Won an auction (1 out of 8) for a refurbished Samsung 2GB MP-3 player @ $62 vs. a higher "Buy It Now" price. Everything worked as expected; tracking # info @ UBid connected to FedEx and item was delivered as tracking described. And the "free shipping" was free. I have made several purchases over the years with Ubid and I have never had problem one."
"Ordered a new receiver, got it a few days later via fedex ground, saturday delivery no less. Charged my card for exactly what they promised it would be on checkout."
"I bid and won a 62 Piece Campbell Hausefield Air Toolkit from uBid.com I waited 10 days and still had not received what I bid on, so I contacted uBid, They emailed Me and said give Them an additional 5 days to get the order shipped. So again I waited. Then after this I checked My Page on uBid, and found out that My Order had miraculously been cancelled due to "Immaculate DECEPTION". I then contacted uBid, whom then stated They had cancelled it, due to the fact that They didn't have enough inventory to cover the Bid that I had Won, imagine that. Then they sent Me another email offering Me a whole $5 towards My next purchase, for My troubles. Well now, I'm not settling for this, The Better Business Bureau in Chicago is now handling My complaint. uBid's Website states "100% Fraud Free Auction Guarantee" and " The Marketplace You can trust"...........DON'T BELIEVE IT !!!!"
"I am primarily writing this review in light of the staggering amount of negative reviews that ubid has received. I ordered a computer from them last year, on a friend's recommendation, and I was completely satisfied with the transaction from start to finish. The only hang up was that my order was put on hold at first, only because my shipping address wasn't the same as the billing address on my credit card. When I called, the woman I dealt with was very nice and professional, and even upgraded my shipping for no charge. I still own the computer that I purchased from them and have no regrets whatsoever. All I can say to those who are complaining about shipping charges is, read before you buy, and if the shipping is more than you are willing to spend, DON'T BUY IT! Also, the item I purchased was one that was sold by and shipped from ubid's own warehouse. I cannot vouch for any companies selling through ubid. Also, as far as their auctions being phony, I know nothing of this, as the item I bought was their equivalent of a "buy it now" so I did not have to place a bid, so to speak. In closing, I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again, assuming that the terms of sale seemed satisfactory."
"uBid charged me $539.99 to ship a $200 item. Other vendors of the same item ship it for $18-$26! Their so called bids are fraudulent and they deliberately mislead the customer regarding the shipping and handling. I will never do business with these thieves again and will warn all that I come in contact with about their shady practices."
"I purchased a refurbished Samsung HT-TQ85,Five 5.1 Channel Home Theater Audio System. $319 with $50 dollars shipping. It took ten days to get here. It was packaged in the original factory box. The unit works perfectly with only a small 1/8" scratch on the silver faceplate. After reading the reviews I was worried, but all seems well. Waiting a week for a tracking number was the only downside on this purchase."
"Beware - Not a true auction site. I won a watch at auction. Watch was delivered to the wrong address by Fedex. Two weeks later, Fedex was sent to pick up watch from wrong deliveree. I then get an email from Ubid stating the watch was returned and my credit card account would be credited. Summary - a watch that I supposedly won at auction was no longer my property because of a shipping error? Total BS.
Stick to legit auction sites like Overstock, Bid4Assets, Ebay, or Bidz. On these sites, when you win a product at auction - you actually OWN that product from the second the auction closes.
FYI - If using this site, ALWAYS check the shipping cost BEFORE bidding. $25 to ship a pair of binoculars? $32 to ship a Bluetooth? That $1 pair of binoculars you won will end up costing you more than if you just bought it at a store."
"I am very disappointed with the service from uBid.
I placed my order on Oct. 21 and I still have NOT received my item (today is November 10), my item was IN STOCK & shipped on October 31 (10 days after purchase). I never even got a tracking number to "ease my mind". I order online on a frequent basis and have used several sites to make purchases, uBid is by far the worst with service & turnaround shipping time. This experience has taught me not to use uBid on any further purchases.
At this point and this holiday season, I will let all my friends, family and anyone else know NOT to use uBid because they probably won't get their order until next year.
NOTE: I ordered this items over 3 weeks before my son's birthday. It was a game he really wanted for his birthday gift. Sadly, my son will not have it for his birthday. Maybe it will be here in time for Christmas (or not)????"
"I bought a computer from ubid.com and it came broken. I am haveing a hard time getting ahold of anyone to resolve this problem"
"I have been Ubid customer from the very first year they on the biz. I always have a good biz with them but I didn't order anything from them since they start to charge a way toooo much for their shipping (unbelieveable price for shipping!). some how I want to give them a try again for cell phone. which i be able to find the one i like and i did buy it direct from them. everything went fine. on the next day i found other company that offer same cell phone for less and i did send them e-mail ask them to cancel my order. needless to say nothing show up on tracking or cancelation...nothing for 3 days and then i got e-mail on july 26 told me that the product was ship out, ok, i think that alright and they charge me 2 days for $45 shipping for cell phone? boy...i am so wrong to do biz with them again. and then i receive my package way more than 2 days. so i telling myself that if it work everything will be fine. guess what? nope. big O zero. call Ubid back ask them to see if anything that they can help. the girl on the phone was real nice and SEEM to be helpful and tole me she will try to get back to me with in 48 hours....hummm wonder how hard is that to find out about the product. 3 days later nothing again nothing...i call them back on the 4 days and she call their VENDER right away and told me that if she can refund or replace i told her is it work i am more than happy to replace it so i guess i ask her to replace the product. and i waite for e-mail again to ship the product back. well this time it right away i pack everything and ship back that day. and waite for other 5 days nothing again....nothing! i call the person on the phone seem like she real unhappy with her job and told me to waite for e-mail...humm ok. and i hang up the phone and call back next day ask the same question about my cell phone...she told me they reviece the phone 3 days ago...and the VENDER will ship out product the same day...ok...nothing again i call back 2 days later to find out that they just ship out today!...wowo....i got e-mail about the package that been mailout through USPS and give me tracking #....boy you need to read e-mail carefully because they say it might be up to 30days to tracking the package or recieve the package! i hope this cell phone doesn't come from MAR or Saturn....and they say product can be return within 15days...humm i hope i still be able to return the package when it get here. please people DO NOT BUY FROM THEM EVER!!! i buy alot of product on-line and this will be the last with them. NO MORE UBID!!!!"
"This was my first purchase from ubid.com. I was a little apprehensive given the checkered reviews they've gotten here, but I also figured more people take the time to tell about bad experiences than good. Mine was, for the most part, good. Their email communication was excellent, my item (a home theater receiver) shipped promptly and arrived very quickly, and it works as advertised.
I was a little disappointed that, although it is a factory refurbished unit, "minor wear" turned out to be a pretty good sized dent in the metal front faceplate. It only affects the asthetics and, I suppose, that's why it's $200 cheaper than non-refurbished.
All in all, a good experience."
"Horrible! Do NOT buy from these hacks no matter what the price. Read their fine print, if it says "refurbished" and "very nice condition" that may translate to very, very, very poor condition, unusable and the product is one its last legs about ready to break.
Here are the bullet points from my experience: Late shipping, did not send me everything I ordered, product was totally scratched up (described as "very nice condition"), and service reps were rude.
I needed a cellphone. I found a good price on one at uBid, it was described as a "very nice refurbished" Blackberry with a charged & usb cable.
I needed ASAP, so I paid the extra $30 for overnight delivery. I ordered it Monday morning.
On Thursday, 4 DAYS later, this horrible experience started to unfold. The packaging was pathetic, someone threw it into a USPS overnight envelope. They forgot to include the USB cable, thus, they did not send everything I bought. Then, I inspected the Blackberry, this thing looked like someone climbed Everest with it, deep scratches on the screen & gouges on the body of the phone. Seriously, this phone looked like someone used it very hard for about 2 years. It was far from "very nice condition." Scratches on the screen??? How could anyone in their right mind claim this was in "very nice condition?"
I called customer service on Thursday, and was told they would contact the seller to get me a replacement phone that was as advertised. I was told I could expect an e-mail from uBid. Monday morning, no e-mail, so I called uBid.
When I called uBid acted as if I had nothing to complain about. I told the rep the phone was not in "very nice condition" and the description was dead wrong. The rep then told me the phone was listed as "used," and proceeded to read to me what "used" means under the uBid contract. Essentially, "used" means the product has minor bumps and scratches. I told the rep the phone has scratches on the SCREEN making it unusable, this is a major scratch. Then I said the phone was late in shipping, it came after I needed it, the phone came incomplete, and it is a piece of junk. She didn't care. The gist of what she said was I bought it used (nevermind it was listed as "very nice condition"), all bets are off, caveat emptor sucker!
Finally, I said "I want my money back." The rep's reply is that I have to pay a 15% re-stocking fee.
So, I'm out $30 for "overnight" shipping, $30 re-stocking fee, I'm mad because they did a bait & switch and used fine print to stick it to me, and I still don't have a phone.
I'm not going to fight them, I rather spend time with friends & family, but I do want you, the potential uBid customer to know these guys are horrible. Please, learn from my mistake: Do NOT do business with uBid."
