"Willoughby's camera proved to be a haven for camera enthusiasts during my recent purchase of a Canon EOS R6 Mark II and the 24-105mm f/4 lens. The website's navigation was a testimony to brilliance, offering a comprehensive yet user-friendly platform for exploring camera specifications and lens features.
Making a decision on such high-end camera gear was made easy by the detailed information provided on each product page. Willoughby's commitment to customer education shines through. The process from selection to checkout was seamless, and the timely shipping only added to the overall satisfaction.
No problem recommending this company."
"After reading some reviews, my experience is similar to others. On 9/1/23, I ordered a Sony DSC-RX10 IV Digital Camera from their website for $1179.00 to take on a trip. A few days later a gentleman by the name of Jimmy called me to tell me that the camera I ordered would not work in the USA and if I wanted a camera that would work in the USA, I would have to pay an additional $420.99 for a total of $1699.99. Since I was leaving in a short amount of time, I had no choice but to pay the difference. This was nowhere to be found on their website. Had I known that they would do a "bait and switch" I could have purchased it elsewhere for the same price. It turns out that the camera and another package from another company never made it to my house as they were either mis-delivered or stolen I called UPS to inquire about the whereabouts of my packages. After a week, UPS told me that they would contact Willoughby's to process the claim and I would hear from them about a replacement or a refund. 2 weeks later, I called Willoughby's to inquire about my refund. They said the UPS had not approved their claim. I called UPS and they told me that the claim was approved and that Willoughby's never submitted the claim. When I called Willoughby's back, they tried to pressure me to get a replacement and not a refund once the claim is issued.
I guess I should have checked the Google reviews BEFORE I made my purchase. Growing up in NY, Willoughby's always had a great reputation, so I felt comfortable buying from them. My bad! It turns out that Willoughby's is NOT even an authorized retailer of SONY cameras. SONY's warranty states SONY doesn't warrant cameras sold by unauthorized retailers. BTW, they still have the camera listed on their website, but the price is now $1279.00 BUY ANYWHERE, BUT NOT FROM HERE! I have reported this to the NY Attorney General and NYC Department of Consumer Affairs."
"I ordered a camera online and then received a call from the store, telling me the camera I ordered was an import version and it wouldn’t come with a warranty or electricity won’t work with American. He told me it would be about $400 more to get the American version and it will come with a warranty. He also talked me out of the battery and SD card that I was purchasing saying they were the wrong ones. When I was done, I was $2600 in the hole. When I receive the camera I called Nikon and there was no warranty and this was a bait and switch. They did not send me a legitimate camera. I called the company and asked for a refund and they said they would be glad to give it to me if I only pay a $524 restocking fee upfront! Nikon told me the serial number is not one of theirs, and that there will be no warranty from them and I will not have any firmware or software updates because it is not from Nikon. Stay away from his company. I’m trying to get my money back. It is a scam— look on the Better Business Bureau they have an F, and most of the comments are they bought an item, and they received a phone call telling them they bought the import version and that they need to spend more money. I don’t know how they can get away with this."
"Willoughby's runs a shady operation. I ordered a Canon lens on-line and later tried to confirm my order by calling the company's phone number, which was listed on their add. (***-***-****). Unfortunately, no one answered the phone. I ended up calling Chase and canceled my credit card. They advertised a Canon lens at a very attractive price and then called me and told me I ordered the European model. I was told that this information was hidden under one of the tabs. If you want a real Canon lens, their representative said, the price will double...Stay away from Willoughby's. This operation is designed to rip you off."
"In January I ordered a camera lens for over $900.00. Willoughby's called sometime later to ask if I knew this was a "White Box" lens. I told them I was not interested and to cancel the order. I was assured by a Mr. Cohen that the lens was brand new. It arrived and I found a break in the edge of the lens and obvious signs of its used condition. I called and asked to return it. I did and included a letter asking for my money back. They shipped another lens against my wishes. The replacement lends was also used. Consumers are powerless against dealers like this. Their actions and behaviors are completely criminal and that criminality crosses state lines as I do not live in New York. I will be elevating my inquiry to include agencies that deal with interstate crime.
All I wanted was to get my money back.
It is hard to image the State of New York allows this kind of business to run unchecked."
"Called to inquire on my order. The person who answered was blatantly mean and made fun of me while another person in the background laughed. They’re not getting my business. Also, call to make sure your item isn’t back ordered for months. They don’t mention it and expect you will wait without any explanation, and then they’ll make fun of you."
"Willoughby's website is misleading. They tried a bait and switch with me. I ordered a Canon PowerShot SX70 HS Digital Camera from them because their price was well below all others. On the website, it was the same as offered by Canon.
Within hours I received a message to call "Jason," a telephone seller for Willoughby's. He told me that I had bought a Canon sold for international markets. If I wanted the American market Canon, I would have to pay well over a hundred dollars more. I cancelled the order.
They sell gray market goods advertised as American market at a very low price. Then, the switch. It's fraudulent."
"I purchased a Sony A7R2 from them on 5-17-22 and according to them I was buying a Brand new model. I recieved the camera in the appropriate box with a sticker covering the model, serial info. 2 days after receiving the camera I snapped a photo and uploaded it to a shutter count site and it says the camera has 18,505 shutter activations on it. I’m not very happy. I actually paid more asking for a Brand new camera sealed in factory box. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE. LIARS AND THIEVES. they take trade ins and sell them online for new. "
"I bought Fuji XT4 along with 16-80 lens online. They called me up couple of days later and told me I wouldn't be able to update firmware and no U.S warranty because its gray market items. I canceled. "
"recently, I bought a 50mm 1.4 lens for the Sony a7r4. but they sent me a used one that looked almost 10 years old. and some part of the hood broken and the lens itself has a lot of evidence of using it. some letters on the lens are erased which means it has been used a lot by someone else.
this company is a fraud.
Do not trust this company.

"I ordered a Nikon D850 camera for delivery to Denmark. The order process was straightforward offering a very completive price for delivery to Denmark. The package was easy to track and arrived in the specified timeframe. Once I paired the camera with a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm lens the photos I just took were absolutely amazing. I've owned several Nikon cameras, as well as other brands, but this camera does everything that I need for my Wildlife photography, Honestly I have been very pleased with the camera and The service from Willoughby's camera. I would definitely recommend them to anyone "
"This store is a complete SCAM and a WASTE OF TIME. I placed an order last week. Got an email and told me to call its processing team since it needed more info to process my order. WRONG!!! The guy just wanted to talk on the phone since it's their upsale tactic. Told me that the model I paid for is an international model, which is ok for me. He said a $2000 lens has a plastic mount for international model vs a metal mount for US model. BULLSHIETTTT. It's a $2000 lens not a cheap plastic $50 adapter. Make some sense here dude. When I said I'm ok with the international model, he said the shipping time is 4-6 weeks and went on about ordering from European warehouse and other cheap upsale tactics. I paid extra for expedited shipping, why do I have to wait 4-6 weeks to get my order? He said if I want the order soon, I would have to get the US model which is $300 more than what I paid for and is the same price as other stores are selling. Yeah right, at that same price point, I would just order from other legit and Canon, Nikon, Sony authorized dealers and get full warranty like B&H, Adorama, Kenmore Camera, Beach Camera, etc... That was the first and also the last time that I order from Willoughby's. STAY AWAYYYY and save your time."
"False advertising…. I Bought camera that was “in stock “ and ready to ship from USA store !! 2 days later I get a call from salesperson saying I bought a European model and international shipping would be expensive BUT if I paid $400 more , they would sell me the floor display model with no box!! Everything sounded fishy and website specifically claimed it was in stock in New York !! I refused ….. a week later , they are still advertising same camera as “in stock “ and available for immediate shipping !!! They false advertise and then try to “hard sell” you on refurbished equipment for more money claiming yours is “discontinued “ or “back ordered” !!! BEWARE !!! "
"I placed an order and paid online. Got a callback the following day. "Malcolm" says "are you sure you want that one. Its the International model that we ship overseas." Malcom said that it would not work in the US. The US model was $200 more. Disgusting. I called the and asked them about the scam. Clearly this is their routine."
"Yep. They are scammers BIG TIME. I Used Fortiva to pay and they said with "financing" (through Fortiva) I can't get the international/grey item... So I gave him my CC for the difference. This is a TYPICAL bait and switch. That lowest price you see comes with about a $100-$200 dollar difference before you're through. I called back and said, "Im confused... You took a credit card for the difference, but the original "financing" is a CC... Why did you need a new CC?" He rambled about financing vs a credit card... I told him I have the Fortiva credit card in my hand... He stuttered some more before I said, "I see so, this is your scam. I just want to make sure Im getting my lens at this point." Worst company ever. I was so excited I had found this site with great prices... It really is true that you get what you pay for! "
