"Scam! Dishonest company. They sell grey market products as USA products. Want to try and cancel? Too bad! They will either refuse, not pick up the phone, or pity you and agree if you pay 5% of the purchase price. Stay away!"
"Willoughby’s photo emporium has become well known throughout the photo industry for running an orchestrated bait-and-switch scam. They lure customers in with low prices and then later inform thos people that those products won’t work, steering them to more expensive options. This is illegal and unethical. It’s amazing the New York attorney general has not shut them down. "
"I ordered a new Nikon D5600 camera body by phone and received excellent and knowledgeable service. The price was the lowest I have seen for a new camera. They also offer an extended warranty that covers accidental breakage or any camera malfunction."
"I placed an online order for a Canon camera that was about $150 under what I now know to be the MAP. They called to "confirm my order" and asked if I wanted the European (grey market) camera that I purchased despite that not being indicated ANYWHERE on the listing. I said no and they proceeded to offer me the US version at full MAP and throw in a free memory card to be "nice." I had them hold the order and did some research showing this was a common scam. I cancelled the order and purchased at MAP from B&H with a couple small freebies thrown in.
If you're new to higher end electronics or cameras be really careful about where you purchase. These practices are scammy and potentially illegal."
"I ordered, paid with credit card and declined their warranty. I insure my camera on my insurance. Got an email to call them so they could ship my order? Called and I'm told if I dont purchase their warranty they cant just ship a Nikon camera without a warranty? What? That's called shipping insurance if you're worried about shipping. Dont waste your time. "
"I liked the set up of the store very much and the attention by the sales rep was very attentinve and professional. Would recommend to everyone "
"Last week i bought a wide angel converter for my Panasonic G3.
The last day of my visit of New York i made a lot of pictures with my New lens. When i was at home, and could see the pictures on my computerscreen i realised That i was scammed. Realy bad pictures, worst ever!!! Only a very small part of the picture in the middle was Sharp en in the right Collors. The edges of the pictures are horrible.
Then i searged on the net what this lens cost.

And i paid $380,00 what a fool i am.
Never buy anything.

"Willoughby's is a great store to buy your camera. I have bought a few cameras from this store. They are very helpful and if I have any issues with my camera they all get fixed. Definitely recommend this store.

"This place operates like a scam business when it comes to repairs or returns. Buyers be aware."
"The hardest I've ever tried to spend $600!!!!!
Established since 1898 Willoughby's claim. Sadly their attention to email and general customer service is from the same era!!
I received one line responses to my queries about spotting scopes with no name to respond to. On occasions i had to email more than once about the same subject to get a response at all.
Having initially been told that there were 'some' of the item I wished to purchase in stock, when I tried to order two days later I was told that there were none available and an attempt was made to 'cross sell' me to another product entirely.
Even my email of complaint went unanswered. I've never tried so hard to spend $600 and been treated to such unwilling and poor customer service in return."
"first of all DONT BUY HERE.
that said, here's the story behind it:
walked inside,on 9-4-14 with a question about mine Samsung Nx300
i tought it was a profesional shop, and its seems to be very organizid, not like
the tourist shops with there scandals....
So i asked ''do you have a pancake wide angle lens for this type of camara,
with a nx mount?''
the answer was clear ''no they dont deal in samsung, they prefer nikon/olympus''
so i asked where to go else for such a lense?
but the shopkeeper, had something else, and showt me,a Wide Angle hd lense
that i can put on the 58mm thread....of the already mounted lens...
i thought okay,thats beautiful,even tested some photo's,
then i asked the price, and the first response was 600dollars,and he showt
me a site on amazone, that the price is right... but because,he liked us,
he can give it away for around 350.....
(i know i''have been dumb, did no research about the lens or company)
i bought it !
,but after a day,i checkt the wifi on the hotel, and searched google/amazone
for the titel on the lens, and found this site:
amazon.com/Digital-Profe…
so after reading the reviews/scam like sellers,I was Still undisided...
so after being to 2 other store's,i traveld to B&H camera store, around pen-station.
(i think the best store for your camera
They told me for sure,it was a ripoff if i had paid more than 50dollars.....
so with that in mind.....i did go back to the shop, and i argued with the shop owner/worker.
surprisingly if you say hard out loud ''scam / ripoff / money back now''
within 3minutes,i got back my money(credit card refund)
with a reseed,for sure.
I thanked them, and left the store.....
surprisingly it was realy easy to get the money back....think about it???
realy strange...????
one message for the owner:
this review will be posted several times on innumerable site's/review site's.
thanks in advance,( herring guy )

"I have been a customer Andy’s at Willoughby's for years. Every transaction has been great. Never an issue! I recommend them to friends consistently; in fact this transaction is for 2 cameras, one for me and one for a very good friend as well.
I don’t want this to sound like this is a paid response, or written by an employee scamming you, but I have never been disappointed with them. They get a 10 or A+ or the top of whatever rating scale you choose
"
"I was very impressed with Willoughby's customer service. I had an issue with my camera, I took it back and they were able to fix it. Customer service is very nice and they always answer all your questions."
"Nice experience. I ordered a Canon T3i bundle and I received it as promised. All components came in and everything was OK."
"Folks, I have one very general comment about this merchant that should give you something to think about.
I first discovered Willoughby's at their 5th Ave location few years ago. Curious I entered the store. It presented itself in adecent way, merchandise on the shelves; small but well stocked and staff running around assisting customers. Then I noticed written on the wall, in rather obvious manner, their return policy. Well, there is really no return policy because they give only store crediy or do exchanges. I immediatelly walked out.
Why? My philosophy is simple - if electronics merchant these days cannot offer money return policy (even limited one) they are simply not taking customers seriously. Judging from many posts below this merchant is not taking customers seriously in many other ways either.
This store is cleary geared towards tourists who will buy, often overpaying, and will never return again. Furthermore their way of conducting business online clearly shows they are consolidating short term faulty CC charges for purpose of their own short term investments. I'm convinced that Willoughby's bookkeeping dept. is where the real business is done by this company.
Simply stay away to avoid sad experiences and warn others. NYC features other reputable merchants to obtain photo equipment. And if you think that they are the only store in town that has this Nikon D7000 think again. :-)"
