August 2021 I was looking for a new place to purchase a laptop from because the last 2 laptops I bought from Dell died after only 2 years of use due to poor heat management due to builds and when I contacted Dell, I was given the run around 1 to many times.

I put in an order for an Asus Rogue Strix 17" with all the works. I was told it would be ready in 3 weeks. I paid for rush build too. 3 weeks later I called which was now September 2021, I was told it wouldn't be ready until November. Later in Sept., I called again, I was told it wouldn't be ready until MAYBE January. Meanwhile I did not have a working laptop. I couldn't wait that long only to be put off even longer so I contacted Xotic PC again and they told me I could get an Xotic PC brand with all of the same exact internal parts. I cancelled the original purchase and placed the order for this Xotic PC brand laptop.

I received the laptop about 2 weeks later, now Mid October. It came in a plain brown box like you would buy off the shelf at box's r us and had 2 styrofoam inserts, one for each end and other parts like the power brick in plastic bags just hanging around the box without being secure. Regardless, it worked ok at first. I'm a gamer mostly and there's a lot of heavy graphics using. That transforms into a lot of heat making. Between the spacebar and the top of the mouse pad got around roughly 100 degrees hot. The battery was located in that area and that is what happened to the last 2 dell laptops I had. Also the power supply "brick" was getting well over 130 degrees hot. So hot to the touch it would leave light red burn marks on my forearm. I contacted Xotic PC with my concern about overheating and was told to turn off Anti-Aliasing and lower the graphics from extreme to high or high to medium. I bought the NVIDIA 3080 so I could flipping have extreme and/or high graphics DUH!! Anyways, I did what they said and a couple days later I had to contact them again for the same reason because their recommendation was not working to cool off the laptop nor the power brick. They told me "it normal that when gaming the laptop would get to roughly 92 degrees" according to the software temperature diagnostics they use. The laptop software they use was still telling me the laptop was getting anywhere from 95 to 98 degrees. Over time that burns out the internal components much faster even just the 3 degree difference. I contacted Xotic PC a third time because I got an ERROR BATTERY FAILURE on the software and was told there's nothing else that can be done. Day 28 of the 30 day FULL money back GUARENTEE that Xotic PC touts on their own website, I went to the site, filled out the form to return for refund the laptop. I had to pay an extra $70.40 for shipping which should've been included but wasn't. I packed everything back up into the same exact box the same exact way they sent it with 2 copies of the refund request 1 in the box and the other on the outside of the box. I went to the UPS store and dropped it off. Several days later I got an email saying they got it and they would let me know when it was done being examined for damage and what costs would be accrued for damages. I made damn sure there was no damage from me prior to sending it back to them. About a week or longer later, I got an email stating I was getting a refund for $2864.40 of the $4,254.24 that I originally purchased the laptop for. I am 100% disabled Iraq war combat veteran. I am also on a fixed income because of this. I was getting screwed out of $1,389.84. I contacted Xotic PC once again and asked why, I was told they do not refund "services" and "because I did not return it in the OEM packaging there was a 10% cost". 1st of all it was returned in the same exact box I got it in, I even have pictures. 2nd it's a FULL 30-day refund not a PARTIAL 30-day refund according to their website. So, for Shnitz n giggles I took out the cost of ACTUAL services such as "rush build" for $49.99 etc. The total came to barely over $150 nowhere near the $1389.84. Then i also took out the supposed 10% they claimed which would've been $425.42 making it $575.42 still nowhere near the $1389.84. This refund they did not live up to their warranty for is LITERALLY what I pay for mortgage on my house AND I still needed a laptop.

Before I found out they were going to screw me out of more than $1300 I figured I would give them a 3rd chance to make good on sending me a working no burning laptop. I ordered an Asus Zyphrus. It looked great in photo's where the keyboard lifted slightly for what I figured would be added heat dissipation. It had less on-board memory only 48 vs 64 gig, but that was fine. This laptop was roughly the same cost maybe a couple hundred dollars more. About a week later I got the new laptop in an "OEM" box. The box had some minor damage on the outside, again I have pictures, but it didn't appear it would've been enough to affect the laptop inside if packaged well. I also noticed there were 3 white tags with 3 different names and address' on them. My first thought was ok 2 other people returned this for some reason and maybe Xotic PC fixed the issue and sent it to me. This was November 26th when I got it and opened it. I plugged it in was fascinated by the lifting keyboard wondering why ALL laptops weren't like this for heat dissipation. I turned it on used it for maybe 3 hours before I noticed a black spot on the screen lower middle. Yep burnt out LED's, so I used my camera to zoom in on them to see how many, It was a cluster of 4 burnt out. About a half hour later I saw what looked like a smudge on the screen so I grabbed a micro cloth and tried to wipe it away and nope wouldn't go away so again I took a picture and zoomed in....It was a 2nd cluster of 3 burnt out diagonal shaped LED's. At the same time, I also noticed a 3rd set of 2 burnt out LED's. I went back to the receipt to make sure and yep for **** sakes I DID PURCHASE THE PLEASE MAKE SURE THERE'S NO BURNT OUT LED'S "service". I said that's it 3 strikes they're out. I filled out another refund form on their site packed it all back up and sent it back the next day. A few days later I got a message saying they received it and was looking it over for damage. That was December 2nd or 3rd....Today is December 15th, I have not heard that they will be sending a full refund or if they are going to try to screw me yet again, but it wasn't until after I received this last laptop when I found out they were trying to screw me out of more than $1300.

If they try to screw me out of yet another $1300 that's almost $2,800 the cost of a brand new **** laptop, they will have screwed me out of. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!! In fact, tell your friends NOT TO BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!! They will **** you over regardless of if you're a military veteran or not let alone a disabled veteran.

"Though I had to wait a while for my product, when it arrived I was very pleased.

Xotic clearly wants me to be stoked on the laptops style. While the style is nice, that's not important to me almost at all. What matters is that the manufacture is sound. That's the case here: the components fit together nicely, and the peripherals feel clean and sturdy. At least the stylistic elements don't feel cheap.

The laptop breathes freely with two fans and 4 large ports. It works hard, but has beautifully handled everything I've thrown at it so far. I actually mostly play old games. The single-thread capabilities of the Core i7 is what attracted me to this build. That said, it's nice to have a rig capable of playing new games with my friends. Now, I wait for them! (To finish loading/syncing with me)

I'm very happy with the extra memory, and I recommend a second hard drive. I'm pleased with the clean windows installation, although that was an additional nearly $150.

Definitely spring for an additional thermal paste!

All said, it was a big investment on my part. A final price tag just north of $3k is more than I've spent on a single thing (not a car) ever. I do believe that I have a quality piece of hardware that will remain worthwhile and capable for several years."
