"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE!!!!!!
THEY ARE NOTHING BUT CROOKS!!
I WISH I HAD SEEN THIS WEBSITE BEFORE I MADE MY ORDER. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID.
They are extremely rude. They even mocked me during my conversation with them and also made fun of my last name by misprononuncing it intentionally. They hung me up a couple of times while I was enquiring about the order status.
I decided to not give my business to them and cancelled my order.
If you want to order from them, may God save you."
"You should not use "A&M Photo World"!!! I was VERY DISSATISFIED. I ordered Canon PowerShotG6, because they sell very low price. Though I wonder why the accesories are EXTREMELY expensive. Before ordering, I asked them about the product whether the product includes accesories by e-mail, but they don't answer and just say "Thank you for shopping at amphotoworld.com. In order to give you the best answer for this specific question, please contact our product information staff at ***-***-****". After I ordered, I got mail "For verification purposes, please call our customer service department at 1-***-***-**** ext. 753, in order for us to proceed and process your order. Please have your order number ready when you call. " So I called them many times, but always just connected to answering machine. I left message and also sent e-mail them. They reply me
"Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for shopping at amphotoworld.com. These type of inquiries would be taken care of by contacting our customer service dept. at ***-***-****. We pride ourselves with the level of service they offer.
Thank You
Web Relations" I asked again "Do I need to call you again?" then they reply just same phrase plus "If you are unable to use our toll free line you can use our international line at ***-***-****." I called again and again, always nobody answer and just connect answering machine. If they really want to make confirmation, It will be enough that I already reply e-mail many times. So I sent e-mail again "You already know this order is correct, so please proceed and process the order." and also left message "please call me" but they never called me. Just they reply e-mail "We have reviewed your order, #. We are unable to process that order due to our company's policy regarding international payments. Please give us a call at 1-***-***-**** or 1-***-***-**** extention 753, so that we may arrange an alternative method of payment." but always nobody answer. I emailed again "I CALL EVERYDAY BUT EVERY TIME NOBODY ANSWERS!!!!I NEED THIS PRODUCT SOON!CALL ME" I call again and again, atlast I could talk a guy. but he was very bad attitude and rude. He said brusquely "Hold on!" and check my name, then "Order number!!" said VERY bluntly. VERY RUDE. Then he just transfered answering machine. Even I sent e-mail, "Today also I called your company. But bad attitude man just transfered to answering machine. What do you want me to do!?
DO YOU INTEND TO SELL PRODUCTS!? If you don't intend to sell me, I'm gonna order to other company. LET ME KNOW". But they just sent me same phrase, "Thank you for shopping at amphotoworld.com. These type of inquiries would be taken care of by contacting our customer service dept. at ***-***-****. We pride ourselves with the level of service they offer." Besides, the e-mail display name of destination was "Mad Man"!! They are NOT ONLY RUDE BUT ALSO TEASING ME!! I can't believe!! Atlast I cancelled order. It was really waste of time. A&M Photo World is the MOST SUCKS Company."
"The only thing that is unclear for me is why they are still on a market. My story is similar (obviously I hadn't seen that site before), I ordered Canon Optura XI from them, advertised for $ 729. Tried to sell extras, (battery is only 15 minutes....and other lies) which I refused. Few days later they sent an e-mail with the tracking #, I checked the account and noticed they charged $ 1279. I called Bank of America to dispute the transaction and UPS to decline the package. Three weeks later they returned $ 1199, Bank of America says that it's because of s&h charges and they cannot do anything about that (although they advertise "Total Security Protection"), if I want to claim the whole amount they send me to BBB or advise to take a lawyer. 70 $ is not worthy to do that, but tomorrow I'll close the checking account I have there... "
"Do not buy from this company. It is a complete joke. Ordered a digital camera online, called to tell me that it is a Japanese version and offered me the US version at a higher price. No where on the item description does it tell me that it is Japanese. I live in the US, why would I want to order a Japanese version. The customer service is horrible. Cancelled order and will never buy from them again."
"Whatever you do, NOT BUY FROM THIS WEBSITE. Read all other reviews. This is classic bait and switch scam. I am lead to believe that these similar stores may possibly be linked to one parent company. Beware:
1. A&M PhotoWorld
2. Broadway Photo
3. Digital Liquidators
4. SuperPixDigital
"
"Did not receive order when due so I called ONLY to find out camera was on Foreign Backorder. This was after I received and email saying item was shipped that day. After spending 30 minutes on "ignore" and dealing with downright nasty customer service reps, I CANCELLED my backorder. I proceeded to inform A&M that Federal Trade Comm. law requires them to inform a customer when an item is Backordered so they can choose to wait or cancel order. They said law was not for internet. WRONG answer Oscar!!! This place is a scam!! Check reseller.com for more horror stories."
"I place an order for a Sony Digital camera and a VidPro case. The camera was advertised at 475.00 and the case was 99.89. With shipping it was a littlw over 600.00. My Credit card was charged 1169.89. I called them and was told that I authorized them to upgrade my camera nad add a few items to this. However I never did call them because I am over seas and can not call an 800 number. I contacted my Credit card company and told them that I had refused to accept the packaged and told them to return the item as undeleverable. It is bad when you search for a bargin and you end up getting ripped off. I have also filed a complaint with the New Your Attorney General,s Office. I WOULD NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS SITE AT ANY COST. THIS SITE IS A BIG RIP OFF>"
"This company practices the classic bait and switch. We first ordered a camera because the price was the lowest available. Then we got "the phone call" telling us to "expedite our order" we must call them. This is when you find the camera is really a foreign model or something other than specified on the website. We made a deal and bought up, specifying we wanted a factory-sealed US model with factory warranty. What arrived was a US model with no factory warranty. When we called we were told we did not get the factory warrany, that would cost extra. We called again and someone else said, "Oh, you ordered the full US sealed model with factory model." Yes, but we didn't get that, we said. He then decided we hadn't ordered that. Huh? You just said we did. I now anticipate having to dispute charges with my cc company as I'm not paying shipping charges both ways to return a camera when they did not send what was promised. This company appears low cost, but they hide their shady business practices behind the low figures. AVOID THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT PROBLEMS."
"I order a digital camera and dock a month ago. They sent the wrong dock, after having to send it back, working with their customer service group has been very difficult. They have lied to me ("the new dock will be sent out today"), have failed to return calls, have failed to call me with an update when they promised and have constantly "made-up" status information--the most common of which is "it was back-ordered and will be here in two days." What a dreadful experience. They have basically refused to give me a credit, so I will no doubt have to seek a credit from the credit card company."
"I bought a Canon Powershot A80, ordered it on Saturday night, and received it on Tuesday morning. They offered me the best price and package for this camera, but after having read some of the other reviews that talked about delivery problems, I was in two minds as to whether to order from them. I'm glad I did - I saved over $100 on the local store price, and received it in just over one working day! I'd definitely recommend this store."
"A&M Photoworld is an absolute scam. I purchased a lens and had to practically fight off the CSR during the 'Order Confirmation' call. They came up with the lowest price on a digital camera I wanted so I tried them again. They re-bundle the items leaving out critical components to offer the lower price and then they try sell you the missing items. When it's all said and done you will pay signigicantly more for the item than you would through a reputable vendor. It is purely a bait and switch scam."
"best price on Fiji E510-ordered on line- received call from pushey sales guy-states 6-8 week delivery-why? Camera ordered from Japan, however, I can order american version for addional $60. ok I say, as cheeper than from around here-Monday I call-where's camera? Oh, not in stock and not available-UP YOURS!!! Buy local $300-Now checking to see if they charged my card for the amount-Stay away from these
%$$*#^&&."
"after ordering a camera from A & M Photo world via the internet, a phone call was received that I had to speak to a rep before my order was shipped. The rep was pushy and was trying to sell me all sorts of additional products. The only thing i agreed to was a 5 year warranty and supposedly an upgrade to the factory battery. When I received my shipment, the only battery in the package was the factory battery. When I called and questioned, they said Cannon has differnent packaging for diffenent cameras packages. Cannon has confirmed that they do not have diffenet package and this company has lied."
"I did not purchase anything from this company, I was one of the lucky ones who found this website before I made up my mind. However, after browsing over their website, I found their 'General Ordering Policy' very interesting, and thought it might be useful for those fortunate others who find this site before they order from A&M. The policy is as follows, exactly as it appears on their website:
What is your General Ordering Policy?
For your security, all orders are go through a thorough verification procedure before they are shipped and must receive final approval by our customer service department. If the Shipping address on your order is different from your billing address (which must match the address to which your monthly credit card statement is sent), please use the toll-free number on the back of your credit card to contact your credit card company and create a "Secondary Shipping Address", which is simply a note on your account authorizing purchases that are delivered to a destination other than your billing address. Failure to do so may considerably delay the processing of your order. A&M Photo World carries US & Non-US products. Non US products may be considerably less expensive. The product packaging may or may not include all software, accessories, and features intended for US customers. Please allow three to four weeks for delivery on some international products. USA warranty may be additional. Images and specifications are for illustrative purposes only. A&M Photo World will not sell products to resellers under any circumstance. We also reserve the right to limit any product to one per customer. Pricing and availability are subject to change without notice. All prices are after the manufacturers' rebates. All rebates are handled with the manufacturer and A&M Photo World shall not be held responsible if the manufacturer will not honor the rebate. We are not responsible for typographical errors on the website. We also reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order. If you were already charged we will issue you a full reimbursement. Receipt of an order does not necessarily constitute a final transaction. We may contact you regarding adjustments to your order, including but not limited to tax and shipping which you will be informed of prior to billing. The charges at checkout may not be final. You will receive your final statement (receipt) with the arrival of your package.
I highly recommend that anyone purchasing online always read the fine print, not only on the item's description/page, but also on any related FAQ, disclaimer, and other policy-related pages. I am terribly sorry that so many of you were cheated by this terrible excuse for a company, and I am exceedingly glad that you have all posted here in hopes of sparing the rest of us from a similar fate. Thank you all."
"By dumb luck I came across this site and was glad I didn't buy anything from these guys with my new paycheck. I called up this place and they would not answer my questions straightforward and they pressured to sell me accessories that should be included.
Turns out their prices fluctuate rapidly also. I just wanted to write everyone that they are changing their website and their contact info. Obviously all the negative press caught up with them. below is their new info, or proxy info to create another company under an assumed name.
