"I read the reviews and CALLED THREE TIMES TO CONFIRM that the camera came with the retail package (mem card, battery and charger) and was not just a camera body as previous reviews have said. Then three days after ordering, I received a call for an upgrade to THE BARE CAMERA which was all the other parts of the RETAIL package! When I responded that multiple sales people had confirmed that those parts were included, the CSR BERATED ME and actually accused ME of yelling - while I was receiving the call in a LIBRARY.
RIPOFF.
THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH ALL THE WAY - I WILL ALSO BE REPORTING THEM TO THE BBB
I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT ALL OF THE POSITIVE REVIEWS WERE POSTED BY THE VENDOR.

"I ordered a Canon 300D digital Rebel through this company on 10/22/04. I had not found this website until after I had ordered it. I actually found the company policy on the website where it states that the product may be grey market and that the photo shown for a product may not be the exact product listed. Thanks to reviewing the multiple dissatisfied customer's reviews here, I decided to circumvent any problems and cancel my check/credit card before the company had a chance to charge anything to my account (the transaction took place on the weekend before thay opened on Sunday. Just for curiosity, I called the toll free number to confirm my address after recieving the customary e-mail. I was then told that the camera listed was indeed a US version of the camera by Walter, one of the sales support staff. I asked if this camera came with batteries - indeed - it did not. I was then told that this is how the company keeps its prices so low. Needless to say, I cancelled my order imediately before the sales pitch started.
Walter was pleasant with me on the phone and promptly cancelled my order. I recieved an email in 3 minutes from the company which confirmed my cancellation. I must say that the people I spoke to were pleasant and I recieved no hassle. I am thankful that I found this website and the reviews it contained. It does appear that multiple customer complaints have improved the companies customer relations. Please be careful in choosing to purchase with this company. If it sounds too good to be true - IT IS."
"Ripoff artists. Got the famous "confirmation call" request. Was told that I had to purchase the battery and charger seperately and that I would have to pay extra just to get the cameras on screen display to show anything but Japanese."
"Watch out for schemes.......Stay away...
I bought a Pentax S4i. After I have placed my order online, A&M's people called and lied to me that the Battery and the Charger included with the Camera were not the good ones, and wanted more money for the upgraded Battery and Charger, I thought they were honest and so agreed, But later called Pentax, and I found out that I was schemed.
When the order came, the box was not sealed, and there was no Battery at all, I called them, they then sent me a chinese made Battery, and it died on me in just 1 charge.
I then called, faxed, sent email and postal mail to A&M; they did not, and even refused to take care of the problem.

"I talked with customer service and sales. They are OK and did not have trouble with them. Product information from the product information department was very rude and impolite. I called back with complain and I was promised that they will follow up on that issue. Also there is no clear statement on the web site about what the products include and it is very confusing. The camcorder that I ordered did not include battery and charger. Why I would want to get a camcorder that I can not use because I do not have a battery for it? When I called they explain that they have different packages for international and European and so on. I ordered the additional battery and now I am expecting the order to be processed but overall performance on that store is poor and unprofessional, they need more work on their web site and product information department. I would gladly assist the store if they decide to straight up their problems."
"Ordered Canon 20D body only. They emailed me for address verification. When I called back I asked if this was a "grey market" item. They said it was. Mailing should have been UPS ground (3days from NY to Bos), but they said it would take 4-6 weeks because they have to order the item from overseas. Their web site claims they keep prices low by keeping a large inventory. Walter at ***-***-**** x767 hung up on me after I told him that I did not want to wait 4-6weeks. I am not sure if the order was canceled. I called my credit card company and told them to have security call me if a charge shows up from amphotoworld. This is a bait and switch retailer. They advertise one thing, but sell you something else. I recommend to pay extra and go to a legitimate retailer."
"Ordered a Pentax 750z and after a week of phone tag for "shipping address confirmation" I found they had removed the standard battery and wanted to sell it to me for an additional $129. I then cancelled the order."
"I ordered an epson2200 printer and some paper at a fixed price. I got an e-mail that i would be notified confermation. I recieved a phone call at my home to verify the order upon which the verifer subggested i get a usb cable because it didn't come with the unit, so i aggred to that . the we went to inks of which i assumed came with the starter set up. He said no and do i want an eaxtra set. I said ok to that Then he started pushing purchasing a warranty which i said i wasn't interested in.then he surrested i get the whole "package" which i was not interested in and said i didn't want. Then he tried to sell a different warranty offer to which i responded no. at that point he said he give me the price of what i ordered . not having firures in front me because i waqs at home not my office he told me a price which what i expected it to add up to.The printer arrived with most of the order, but not all of it and one item (paper) was wrong there was no itemized bill of what i purchased. By my eastimation the total fee was several hundred dollars greater than it should be. i called their customer service, and after being on hold for over ten minutes a representative finally pcked up and i told him what my concerns were and asked for an itemized bill. He ttold my there was no itemized bill because i agreed to a package which is pure BS.He said it was impossible to retrieve and itemized bill. I aregued over this a bit fiannly just hung up! I am very upset about this companies methods, and i personally feel it boaders on fraud.I would strongly advise the public not to deal with this company, and you had to insist on a signed itemized statement before making funds available. this comapny is manipulative , mislaeding, dishonest, and fraudulent in my opinion. I would nevr ever deal with them again!! By far the worst internet experience I've evr had!!!

"Not here to make a rating, just to say thanks to all those that spent the time to comment here. I owe you all a great deal. You pulled me from the edge of the pit. I was about to make an order though A&M the day before, but was pressed for time and decided to finish the order the next day. While surfing for reviews on cameras, I accidentally stumbled onto this web site. I owe you all my gratitude (and probably $448 too) for saving me from the same grief you all suffered. I salute you."
"WARNING - Everything you read here is true! These are classic bait & switch scam artists. They advertise super low prices, then after you order on their web site you have to call in for "order verification." Then the hard sell starts. They tell you the low price is for grey market goods, and try to sell you an upgrade to the USA version for a few hundred extra. Or they try to sell you generic accessories for grossly inflated prices (like $299 for a UV filter, or $169 for the same Mack lens warrenty that B&H sells for $19.99) If you stick with only the original purchase they get rude and hang up. Then you get the infamous "this item is indefinitely out of stock" e-mail. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CLOWNS!!! Cheat me once, shame on you. Cheat me twice, shame on me! I won't be giving A&M a second chance!"
"I ordered a Sony TRV-460 Digital8 video camera for $269. The advertisement showed a standard package like everyone else sells which included a battery and charger. Salesman called and asked if I wanted to add a battery and charger. Shipping was quoted as $19.99. When package came I was charged $399 for camera plus $29.99 shipping. I called customer service and asked for refund and they refused. They did agree to send a couple of tapes and a tripod but I haven't received them. I would much prefer to have got the camera for the price I originally agreed to. I would recommend that you do not do business with this company. I will never deal with them again."
"A&M Photo World is horrible. First, they sell Grey Market stuff without you knowing it. They take the batteries out of the cameras (I called Nikon and they said they have to be doing this). And, Nikons rebate ended the 28th, and they said it would still be vailid. After calling them back again to see how much the "premium package" was, (This happens to be in the same hour) they said I WOULDNT get the rebate. After they called me a bunch of names, and after "punk", I hung up.
As far as I know, I am never going to trust ANY company that is listed with you, as you dont make sure of anything."
"Good experience for the most part. Buyer must beware of really low prices. Read the fine print as it may be an import and in order to get it serviced in the USA you must purchase that model which is hundreds of dollars more. I just learned of this with this purchase. They had to mail me a replacement video cam as the first one came opened. but they did it in a very rapid manner (2 day Fedex) and got it to me in time for my actual need date. i believe they handled me fairly.
after reading other reviews i do want to clarify that i too had the same exact experience with the fast talking salesman, the email that states to call before shipping, the mystery battery/charger needed when the camera already comes with one and the store was closed for a JEwish holiday exactly when i received my first 'opened' camera box, so i was unable to talk to a human and i did watch my video cam change prices daily on their website. yes, i had all this happen as well and thought i had been 'taken'. AND i didnt know about this rating website until AFTER my purchase which made me feel even worse....
the battery/charger deal is actually not explained properly. this is the USA version that they are shipping, not the European version they advertise to lure you in to their site.
but my video cam was still cheaper than any competition (at this time).
so i too was worried about being charged for a re-ship and what i would really receive. but i played it cool, didnt yell and i feel as tho i was treated fairly in the end....just not up front. hope this helps."
"Watch out for their fast talking sales men! They will make you think that you are getting a good deal when you aren't. Don't let their low pricing fool you either; they don't include many standard parts that you might expect and you will just have to spend a whole lot more later.
I warned you!!!"
"My passion is digital photography. They have the camera I want coolpix4300 but they won't sell it to me. I am an advanced user and when they found out that all I wanted was the camera. The print add price 205, the web price 230 the callback price 260 still a very good price I ordered it. Three days later no credit card charge (prob a good thing) tracking order comes up blank. Nobody has talked about their Hours 9AM -10PM EST since I live on trhe west coast I add 3 hours but have CALLED REPETEDLY during regular hours only to get sorry WE ARE CLOSED. What I can't figure is how they stay open??? DON NOT BUY THEIR ACCESSORIES!!!! Not only are they a complete ripoff they are bad brand names for utterly stupid prices. I do hope to find the camera as my regular stores sold out. B&H Photovideo, tigerdirect are my two favorites and have great success with both."
