"DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. I thought their prices seemed to good to be true. They were.

After ordering a Canon 300D, some slimeball called me and tried to hard sell me a filter (which I declined) then a US warranty. Which was how I realized that the camera was indeed a grey market camera. When I called him on it, he said he'd go away and check, put me on hold, and never came back on the line.

Cancelling the order now.

Anyone know how to report bozos like these guys to Canon USA?

"I found this site after I made and received my purchase. AMPhotoWorld was very easy to deal with and delivered as promised. Their prices were excellent and they have a good return policy. They did try to sell me many items and I did purchase an extended warranty. Their shipping charges were higher than other e-tailers but the other e-tailers product prices were higher. Overall, everything turned out fine and my product came as promised. I am very happy with my purchase. "

"This company sold me a canon EOS 300D which they confirmed twice by phone as a U.S. boxed product. Then they tried to get me to add to the order but I was not interested. They said the product was in stock. Next the confirmed the order and did not ship. The then said the product was actually gray market camera.... go figure. I canceled my order.... I would never do business with this company again. "

"SCAMMERS!

My story is much the same as the others posted here... A long story short, they never intended to sell me the Panasonic PV-GS70 camcorder that I ordered ("Walter" ext. 767). Easy to get a hold of to make the sale, impossible to get a hold of after that. After suggesting that I buy a additional battery, which I refused, I was told the camcorder would arrive in two weeks. Two weeks came and went. No camcorder. I called to find out the status of my order- put on hold. I called and left a message to cancel my order and requested that they call back and confirm- no call back. I called again to cancel, put on hold again and again and again. I turned off my caller ID, called back and got right through... told "Walter" to cancel order. The order was probably never placed to begin with. I just hope that they don't charge me some strange "fee" for the cancellation... The really scary thing is that they have information on me (address, c.c number, ect.) that I gave them on their website. I tried to edit my account information (to delete it) but the "edit account" page was no longer available... They will probably sell my info to make money that way...

"DO NOT BUY FROM A&M Photo World!!!! I purchased a camera via their web site for $529 plus $26.45 shipping. When it arrived (10 days later), the invoice was for $639.99 plus $37.20 shipping. I called them and was told either to accept the new price or return it. They did say I would get full credit. I returned the camera via Insured mail, which I paid $20.10 and it arrived in 3 days. They credited my charge card all but the $37.20 shipping. I am still trying to convince the credit card company that I should not pay the $37.20 shipping since it was a misrepresented sale and was returned per their request and at my expense. DO NOT BUY FROM A&M Photo World!!!! "

"Just like everyone else, I had the SAME problem. I didn't know about their reputation and called them to place an order. After 10 minutes of "do you want some memory cards? we have a sale on the high speed ones" "no..." "you'll need a nextended life battery, it only comes with a 20 minute battery" "no..." "we have a sale on memory readers today" "no..." --- after 10 minutes of that, the order was placed, just the camera, next day shipping ($50!!). Later that day I tried to get the tracking number but was unable to because they kept putting me on hold.

Next day (today) I called to get the tracking number since it's supposed to be here today. I'm talking to the guy, he says some bs about how it takes awhile for the system to process and I need to call later to get the tracking number. So I tell him that's not good enough and I need to know if it shipped or not. He puts me on hold - while I'm holding I call up the credit card company - nothing's been charged - and shortly after I get disconncted from amphotoworld. So I call back and I'm promptly put on hold again. I gave up, called my credit card company and reported the card lost so no one can charge it. I wouldn't have needed it anytime soon anyways. So, these frauds can't complete my order later and try to ship it out.

All in all, WORST SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER! STAY AWAY!

I order a Canon EOS 10D camera, from A&Mphotoworld.com. I'm an international buyer, I will cut a long story short, 5 phone calls speakingwith walter,they tried to sell battery and charger, upon refusal to buy was told the camera was on back order for 2-3 MONTHS!!! And was offered to cancel the order 3 times. They were only to willing to do this when I wouldn't buyany accessories.
Of course listed as "in stock" on web page. Usuall price is USD$1500, thay offered it for USD$1000.
Then started to do look at sites like this, to find out, how they do buisness. They can't offer a camera for $1000, only for $1500 (after you buy the accessories that are already including in the box when they purchase the product.eg battery, charger, warranty.
Don't waste your time with any of these 3 websites.

"This reseller is a complete raquet. I ordered a Canon EOS 10D at an extermely good price. I called pre-purchase to talk about the product and they were very polite and said it was a new US product in the box with all accessories, go ahead and place your order. I did and immediatly got an email that said to call to confirm. I called and the guy explained that it didn't come with a battery. Which is news since the one in the camera store which is also complete does come with the battery, but okay I'll pay an extra $299 for that. Then he said I need to by filters, I said I didn't want filters, he said you HAVE to but filters, I said I wasn't ready he said "what do you mean if you're ready to buy the camera you should be ready to buy the filters." This went back and forth for several minutes before he finally accepted I didn't want his $500 filters. Then he said do you want a 3-year or 5-year warranty. "What does it come with at that price", I asked. "Nothing" he said, which has to be false since the manufacture offers SOME kind of warranty. He fought with me back and forth and until I convienced him I didn't want the warranty. "Okay, you'll have it in 6-8 weeks". "What!!" I said, "six to eight weeks it says you have it in stock". "Yes, but that is for warranty customers only".

I cancelled my order and told the events to a co-worker who pointed me to this site. NEVER ORDER FORM THIS RESELLER!!!

"I recently called their 800 number to place an order for a Nikon D100 published in Petersen Photographic magazine, which included a package with two lenses and other accessories for $1629.99. Talking to your rep (Tim ext-781), I was told you had everything in inventory. After asking a few questions, I was ready to place the order. Tim asked me if I wanted the 5-year warranty for $750, which I denied. After putting me on hold for 10 minutes, he comes back to say that the lenses are not in stock. This was after he had confirmed they were.
It is clear that the sale of the package was denied because I refused the warranty.

"I've ordered a quite new Digital Camera at A&M, after checking for availability via phone. Two days later (on Sunday) a coworker of the company called me in order to sell me a 5-year warranty and a case for additional $150. After telling me he will only send me the camera within a few days, otherwise it would take 3-4 weeks I've cancelled the order.

After that the reseller hung up on me every time I called in order to get to know what's going on.

I will NEVER try order anything at A&M Photo World again!

"To all customers of A&M Photo World. This is an email that I sent to A&M after being so rudely treated by Walter at A&M. I will never buy another product from them again. The email I sent on 6/11/03 follows:


Dear Sirs,

Please ref the above order number. When I placed the order via the internet nowhere on your website does it say that unless you order the extra accessories i.e., battery, battery charger, extended warranty is the camera a gray market item.
I placed the order on June 5th and was informed that because of the Jewish Holiday that orders placed on Thursday wouldn't be processed until the following Monday. I have no problem with that.
The problem I have is that I paid for 3 day shipping so if the order was processed on Monday I should have the item by today (Thursday 12th) at the latest. It isn't going to get here today!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two days ago I called and talked to Walter and I am very upset with the way he treated me on the phone. I got very upset with him as he wouldn't listen to what I wanted. I have ordered from A&M previously and spent over $3,000.00 on my last order and I don't think I should have been treated like I was by him. I asked Walter to talk to a supervisor or someone in customer service and he refused my request. That gentlemen, is not a way to treat a customer!
In reference to my order, all I ordered was the Canon GL2. I don't need a battery as I have two, I don't need a charger as I have a charger. I don't need an extended warranty as the company warranty is sufficient. I know your salesmen try to get customers to buy extra items but in my case I didn't need the extra items. When Walter kept trying to sell me items and I told him I didn't need them he wouldn't take no for an answer. That again gentlemen is not the way to treat a customer. To refuse to let a customer talk to customer service is not a way to treat a customer.
What was Walter afraid of (Oh, excuse me, Walter said he isn't afraid of anything)? By letting me talk to customer service was he going to get in trouble for treating me the way he did? He told me today (6/12/03) that customer service can't handle questions about an order. Could you please explain to me then, what is your customer service department for?
Today Walter kept arguing with me again when I asked to talk to customer service or a supervisor. He finally but a gentleman by the name of Bob on the line and let me tell you sirs that Bob has 1000% more ability to interface with customers than Walter does. I don't like that fact that I was put on hold by Bob and was disconnected. I feel the real issue of customer interaction was again thwarted by my being hung up on. Don't treat customers that way!
I don't know what Walter's problem is but in my opinion he has some very serious customer interaction issues he needs to deal with.
I revisited your website and scoured the site looking for an explaination that an item that doesn't come with the accessories is a gray market item. That leads me to believe that apparently some misleading, false advertising is going on. I hope this isn't true but the way I was treated by Walter and the fact that the website is the way it is leads me to lean that way in my belief.
When I talked to Walter two days ago he told me that he would get the GL2 out to me via overnight shipping. Now if the GL2 without the accessories is a gray market item and you know it isn't in stock and it will take 3-6 weeks to get here, then how come I was told by Walter that the GL2 that I ordered would be shipped out overnight delivery? Is that again an issue of misleading a customer? Was I being lied to? Would someone at A&M explain that to me.

All of this comes about because I was refused the oppourtunity to talk to someone in customer service or a supervisor! Is this the way A&M Photo treats all it's customers? I could have ordered the GL2 from another company and got it at the same or better price. Why did I place the order with A&M? Because I had ordered from you before and I didn't have any problem with my order of a Canon D-60.
Now why is that? I believe it to be because I ordered the battery, the charger and the warranty. I was treated like a human being because I ordered the accessories. It appears to me that unless a customer orders extra items then they are treated like dirt! Does Walter think he is the only one that knows anything about cameras? It is a very big world out there and if more customers are treated like the way I have been treated with this GL2 order then I forsee A&M losing customers.

"Despite the negative comments, I greedily gave these guys a try thinking that posssibly they had changed their ways. No such luck. When I ordered camcorder, I specifically asked if the item was factory sealed and contained warranty. Was told that it was a sealed item and came with standard U. S. manufacturer's warranty. As with the others, received email to call customer service for "verification". Anyone knows these days that all credit card verification is done electronically. When I called I was asked if I wanted to buy an upgraded battery. I was then informed that camcorder is a foreign "grey market" item and does not come with U. S. warranty. When I told the rep that the salesperson had told me that the camcorder came with U.S. warranty, he told me that the salesperson "had made a mistake". I then asked where the camcorder originated from and was told "somewhere in Europe". When I told him that it couldn't have come from Europe because of different standards, he replied "well, I'm not really sure where it comes from". The warranty offered would have cost an additional $199. I then cancelled the order."

"!BUYER BEWARE!

I placed an order for an Olympus C-740 digital camera online with A&M Photo World. The company sent me an email saying I had to call them to confirm the order. I tried all day with the customer representive putting me on hold each time without giving me a chance to speak. The next day I finally got thru (after talking to 3 people and giving each one my order number) to a live person. This person tried to sell me accessories and a memory card. I told him the camera came with a 16 MB card. He told me that it did not. I stalled him until I could call up their web site and read to him "includes 16MB xD Picture Card." His reply was that this was an "international" model that only included the camera body.

I cancelled my order. He then told me that it was his pleasure to cancel it.
