"I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S8 in June 2017 for $750.00. After only 2 months I dropped it and the screen cracked. I researched the cost of repairing the screen and was quoted $300-$350. Since I didn't have that kind of money, I changed out the SIM card and put it in my old phone, that, thank goodness I kept. Online searches led me to Decluttr. I put in the required information and was quoted $210.00 by Decluttr. They have 3 quality ratings, "Good", "Poor" and "Faulty". I chose "poor" as it included "cracked/damaged casing". Additionally and more importantly, the website reads "3 or more of the above faults render it Faulty". I mailed off the phone and awaiting notification of receipt and looking forward to getting my check. I received an email stating that there was a price reduction from $210.00 to $35.00 as I had not reported the quality as Faulty due to a cracked screen. I emailed their Customer Service and sent a print screen of their quality descriptions and pointed out that their own website states 3 or more of the quality descriptions renders the phone 'faulty'. I received a response from Jasmin stating, the following: "We have found the following information on www.decluttr.com: Faulty condition: damaged ports or faulty/cracked screen. Poor condition: cracked/damaged casing." Regards, Jasmin. That information is not included when choosing the quality during the selling process. I declined their ridiculous offer of $35.00. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE SCAMMERS. THEY WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME $35.00 FOR A $750 PHONE, REPAIR THE SCREEN FOR $300 AND STILL BE UP $400.00. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DECLUTTR, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DECLUTTER!!"
"I made the mistake of not reading any reviews on this company which i should have they are HORRIBLE. I wouldnt trust them with DIRT. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with them they are a rip off. They lied about a checkmend report meanwhile checkmend is telling me the consumer something different. I will be reporting them to the BBB as well. Also I signed up for DD they mailed me a check which im not sure has even been mailed. They are a bunch of scams!"

They did not notify me of a glitch and even so, does that mean they would not have paid me if I did not contact them?? This message from them was over a week ago and they still have not paid even though I have resent them my payment info. This company is a scam, beware!"
"This compared to Amazon is some of the best online trading and selling sites out there. Reasonable quotes, free shipping and fast overviews of your product makes for a pleasant and satisfying experience. Still go back and thats a good thing!"
"After spending an hour laboriously entering over 20 CDs, DVDs, and books into the system, I had a $4.82 credit. I tried to close out and redeem it, only to be told I didn't have enough credit to redeem. THEN when I tried to enter account information so I could save the items and add more later, I was told that my street address wasn't valid. It's valid enough for Amazon, American Express, and my driver's license.
Too much work for too little return. I'm sure I could get more at a yard sale, and with less hassle."
"I got scammed :(
It doesn't happen often, but I did.
And i rarely share personal stuff on facebook - but this is so outrageous, i've decided to share to save you time and frustration.
@decluttr is a scam
I've used them twice and both times they have lied, misled and paid less than promised.
so, to start with, they don't pay much for anything. just pennies for most things. Then, 100% of the time i've used Decluttr they come up with some excuse to not pay the full amount. the first time, they claimed some items weren't included in the box. (they were) and they finally agreed to give me the extra few cents (for the full series of weeds) as 'a courtesy' - i marked it up to an error and despite it being a bad return on investment (time) decided to send them a few more things.
So, onc evening i couldn't sleep and spent a couple hours finding another $5.27 worth of credit (an entire box full of DVDs, books and CDs) on items that were all in BRAND NEW or LIKE NEW condition, they were sent in. they ‘rejected’ certain items and ‘recycled’ them for not being in good condition. Again, everything was in Brand New or LIKE new condition (DVDs only ever watched once or not even opened).
Then I did my research. They have only 2 stars and tons of bad reviews everywhere online. I should have done a simple google search BEFORE using them. And many reviewers have the same story - unexplained, arbitrary and common 'rejections' with no recourse. once you ship it, it's theirs and they have all the power. so they just take your stuff - essentially for the cost of shipping.
At best, they are a waste of time. At worst, they are a scam. You get a better return on investment having a yard sale or donating your stuff to goodwill and taking a credit on your taxes"
"Best online Service. Cheers"
"I was leary at first, but the turn around, free shipping, and the company keeping my advised of the progress of my order was awesome. I will be using them again in the near future."
" I was trying to sell my iPhone 7 to them and it was in completely perfect working condition . Luckily I photographed my phone before I sent it in. That it was working and had no cracks or nothing . So when I got an email saying that my phone was I some sort of malfunction loop I contacted them . And I told them that I had my phone in pristine working form and they told me that it was my phone even though it's not they don't know what they are talking about . I work in the phone industry so if it was broken I would've been fine with accepting such. I am very frustrated because they did not try to help or figure out what they did to the phone when they tested it .i told them that I know it works . I spoke with he manager Patricia and she was very unprofessional and rude I will never recommend this service to anyone. And I am going to report them to the IC3 for fraud for taking my phone and trying to send a broken one to me the IMEI and parts number on the device they sent me does not match the I sent them . They are a bunch of scammers."
"Avoid Avoid!
First of all, don't trust their reviews on trustpilot. Look at how different their reviews are on Truspilot Vs yelp, BBB or resellerratings.
Supposedly, 3 of my DVDs did not pass their "quality control" because they were either missing barcodes or they were promotional items. How could the dvds not have any barcodes since I used their app to scan them? and if the dvds were promotional items why did the app say otherwise?
I scanned those Dvds with their app. Conveniently, they didn't even let me know those Dvds were rejected and they automatically sent me a revised payment without sending a confirmation email first. I had to send them an email and asked why the payment was lower than the original offer. Only then I found out about the rejection.
If there was any discrepancy between the barcodes and the DVDs, the responsibility is on them, not me as I used their APP to scan the barcodes. THEIR APP!
I called the customer service. I even spoke with the manager. They blamed me for not reading the terms and conditions. I did. and I could understand if my Dvds were rejected because the artwork was torn apart or the DVDs are not playable. They rejected my items because they were missing a barcode (again, then how would I scan it with their app and got the quote if it didn't have the barcode?) or it was promotional DVDs.. then why did their app say otherwise? Not my fault that their app said the dvds were acceptable. The app didn't say anything about the DVDs being "promotional", if it did, I wouldn't have sent them.
Furthermore, they refused to return me the rejected DVDs.
Why should they get to keep and recycle the dvds just because their app made the mistakes?
Decluttr tried to remove my negative review on Trustpilot as not genuine because I didn't have the order number in the review. They said ""Unfortunately without an Order reference number we are unable to review a case or indeed validate the review." Funny they don't require positive reviews to have their order number in the review. Only the negative ones. As a result my review was taken offline for few hours.
I quickly forwarded Trustpilot screenshots of emails and my conversations with decluttr on facebook as well as the invoice of my order. Hours later, Trustpilot reinstated my review.
Then I updated my review there and included the fact that I spoke with their manager whose name is freely available on BBB site. I only included their first name, no private information that could be traced back to this individual. The reason I did this so that if the company wanted to investigate this, it would be easier for them to ask the individual that I spoke with. The individual I TRIED to solve my problems with. Guess what? They reported my review to trustpilot ""Unfortunately this review contains information about one of our representatives, we are unable to review a case or indeed validate the review."
WTH? If anything me mentioning the name SHOULD help them to validate and review a case. It should not have the opposite effect. Again, I only mentioned the first name (even though their full name is available on BBB site). After a few days, Trustpilot reinstated my review. but I won't be surprised if they report it again for other reason and if my review gets taken down again on that site.
They have tons of good reviews there because they invite them and the negative ones get taken down almost immediately. If the negative reviewers do not submit any documentation to Trustpilot, their review will stay offline for good.
They have also blocked me on facebook for asking about the discrepancy. How much more unprofessional this business can get?
Last, I called the customer service one last time on Aug 9 2017 at 11:12PM. I was having issues logging into my account. To my surprise, the customer service repeated the password back to me. I was really really surprised by this. I even asked them, "You can see my password?. Apparently they can. So, DO NOT USE the same password you use for other accounts that is tied to the email address you use for decluttr. When I tried to elaborate my issues, they told me I already spoke with their manager and they were not gonna repeat themselves.
Anyway, I have deleted my account. I have no interest in giving this company a second chance.
Seriously stay away from these people. I've also reported this company to the local BBB."
"Like everyone has said, these people are crooks. I was quoted for what I thought was a fair price for a huge box of DVD's. There were 60 DVD's. Less than a week later I received a check for a few bucks. And when I called they said that they didn't accept most of the titles and they threw away the rest of the DVD's. But when I was listing them, all the titles were accepted and didn't show errors.
Now, I can see maybe having a small margin of error on my part, but over half of them weren't accepted and like I said, it was giving me accepted quotes on all of them. The terms & conditions are in their favor and set up so that once the products are sent off to them, you're at their mercy. And I suspect that they turn around and flip the products elsewhere to make a profit off of your loss. It's a terrible way of conducting business. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. You've been warned.
"
"I sent in a total of 49 dvd's and blu-rays. And was quoted a price that I was okay with. I knew they were lowballing me, but I accepted it because THEY pay for shipping. Shipping would have cost me too much to bother sending it in. Anyway, I find it funny that the newer movies that were quoted the highest were then given the reason of a "damaged disc, or damaged artwork". Total rip off! I take VERY good care of my movies. Every disc worked perfect, and had no scuffs or even finger prints. In the end the deducted what I thought was unreasonable considering the price they offered to buy it from me for. I should have kept the lot and enjoyed the movies.
Terrible deal. Horrible deal."
"Terrible service, entire process was over two months and I didn't get the total money that my estimate came to. Emailed them several times and they don't respond.
Stay away from this company"
"When trying to sell my items to Decluttr, I had to meet a $5 minimum. The way it works: you add items to your order and then add the order to your cart and checkout. However, once I had added 15 items to an order, every subsequent item was only quoted at $0.05. I thought this was odd, so I made a new order and was quoted more than double that for those same items. So I continued to make several orders with 15 items or less but when I went to add them to the cart, the system wouldn't let me add more than one order at a time. Because each order was under the $5 minimum, I couldn't checkout out. I contacted customer service via the website and asked if they could add all my orders to the cart for me but they said that was not possible. So I called and spoke with a manager, informing her of the severe design flaw in their system and asking if she could help. Nowhere does it say that 15 items causes you to top out on your quote. I also shouldn't be getting two vastly different quotes for the same item within 5 minutes of each other. She said she couldn't do anything about it. This, however, is a lie because all she has to do is contact the IT department and let them know of the issues and then they just have to adjust the algorithm. "
"Prior to sending your phone, I recommend doing your own CheckMEND report. I didn't realize that there could ever be a problem with this kind of check since I have been the sole owner of my phone, purchased in full, with the original receipt. When Decluttr received my phone, they ran the report and an "Asset Watch" caution appeared. It took weeks of battling with CheckMEND to get it cleared from my account (which I was assured unusual to do), but they could provide no evidence of who placed it on an asset list or how to contact said person. This caution flag at first was treated by Decluttr as a red flag, as if the phone was stolen, and I was threatened with no payment and destruction of the device. Eventually, they agreed it was a caution and that it was not currently on the list, however they only offered to pay me half of the original offer because it had possibly previously been listed with a financial interest. My issue with Decluttr was the lowball pricing and lying about it. They claimed that they could not resell the phone with this flag, so they had to offer me less. I was assured from CheckMEND that was false. Of course they could resell it or they would not offer me a dime. They knew I was exhausted and led me to believe that the phone was worthless in order to pay half price. This is a deceptive business practice. Customer service is HORRIBLE and when I tried to get their attention on Facebook, they deleted my message and blocked me. "
A rep from decluttr.com, DecluttrJB, has responded:
“Hi, Sorry to hear the trouble you have had creating an account. Did you try entering the address manually? Did the address have any punctuation in it? The Minimum order is $5 this would have been the reason you couldn't checkout. ”
