"My story is the same as many of the previous post. Ordered Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for $49 with a $20 online rebate. This was clearly listed on the website, the specific item showed the price marked down to $29 and said this was the final price after rebate. When I finally received the product, I sent in my rebate information and it came back denied. Saying I did not buy some other products listed. I feel I have been scammed and will deal with this thru my credit card once I have attempted to settle this with the merchant. I have already called the rebate company and they are unwilling to perform. Leave me no choice. Call fye at 1-866-FYE-PLAY. -Ken S."

"I too received a rebate cancellation letter, and when I called to inquire why I was told by an arrogant employee that my rebate would not be fulfilled no matter what my rebate form said. I offered to email or fax him my form, which clearly stated that only one game needed to be purchased for the rebate, but he again told me it didn't matter, basically dismissing my claim. Honestly people, my first and only time ever doing business with these clowns."

"same story as the rest of you...

i called the number listed on the san andreas rebate denial sheet to speak with a customer rep. after being on hold for half an hour, the guy told me i needed to buy the combo pack as well.

i knew something was amiss when the moron asked me for the link to the rebate. i thought to myself: "you work there, why dont you know the frickin link?" by asking me, he was baiting me into giving him the old link i had on cache that would link to the new, revised rebate form. sneaky sneaky.

so i went online, typed in san andreas rebate fraud, and, lo and behold, came across all these comments as well as a few other forums.

so shame on you, fye. you guys blew it. its bad enough you made this mistake, but to deny all our claims for your blunder is an awful business technique.

so yeah, im going to pursue a chargeback with my CC company, write a letter to corporate and possibly even file a class action with all you good people who got ripped out there.

right now, i dont care if the rebate was only two cents. i will pursue this for the sole purpose of my own dignity.

never buy from them. ever.

"Like many others here, I ordered GTA San Andreas from them. Then they try to pull a bait and switch on the rebate form stating that you have to buy TWO games in order to qualify for the rebate. Since I have an original copy of the rebate form, I plan on fully disputing this tactic. It is unprofessional, underhanded, and quite simply false advertising. I understand mistakes can be made, but if someone in their company made the mistake, they should just own up to it and honor the original rebate. In the end, I would think that it would a) alleviate any negative feelings (which there seem to be a lot of here) and b) ultimately cost them less."

"I purchased a game from FYE.com (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) under the offer of a $20 rebate. If it had not been for the $20 rebate I would've simply bought it from a local store. I received a letter on 12/11/04 from Trans World Entertainment stating that I did not meet the requirements for the rebate b/c I did not supply enough UPCs. I like all the others who are posting here did not receive the rebate and now a modified rebate form is being posted. I met all of the requirements that they had and I'm still being denied.

I will NEVER buy anything else from FYE ever again. If I were you I would go to a more customer friendly store.

"I ordered a game and was suppose to get a $20 rebate. Like others here I received a letter being denied. The reason I was denied is not clear, as I also make copies of all my rebates and forms and mailed in everything they asked for. I even included 3 different receipts I had gotten. I tried their 1-***-***-**** number but I was on hold for 30 mins so I hung up. I also see that they are owned by Trans World Entertainment and the number on the company Valueline sheet is ***-***-**** which is the same number their domain name is registered under. The CEO is Robert J. Higgins who owns 41.3% of the stock, and then it is Stephen Feinberg at 17.8%. I think we should all call asking to speak to Mr. Robert’s. This company is bad news and I will not go into their stores or order fromt hem now on."

"I also was ripped off by FYE on the GTA purchase and had no help calling the rebate center. Even my emails have gone unanswered. So I'm going to first write a letter to the CEO explaining my problem. IF he doesn't take care of it, I'm going to file a case in small claims. Here's how it works: You pay a processing fee (usually < $100) in your local court, and make a claim for some amount + the processing fee. (I'm going to ask for $100 for my wasted time on this + the $100 fee, so $200 total) . Usually the company isn't going to go to all the trouble of sending a lawyer or representative all the way to your local court, so they generally settle or lose if no one shows up. "I also pre-ordered the GTA San Andreas for PS2. They had a $20 rebate at the time.

I sent in all the information as requested and have copies of it still and they sent a letter saying I didn't submit everything as required. And now they go and switch the rebate form saying you have to purchase two GTA games to get the rebate. The rebate form I had came from the fye site and did not say that! They either need to honor it or we should get our money back!

They use deceptive practices and you should never order from them!

"Pre-ordered a game which claimed to have a rebate through their website. Game lumbered in a solid week after the release date (Amazon shipped the game and many people received it the next day after release), and now they are denying the rebate. The changed the rebate form after the purchase (I submitted the original form), stating they required the purchase of two games instead of just the one. Customer service was confrontational at their parent company and non-existant (1 week and waiting for a reply) from their website.

Update - 12/16/04:
Received a response after 14 days, telling me to read the rebate form and call the number on it for information regarding the rebate. My original email to Fye.com detailed the fact I had already done that, what I had been told, why I felt it was not right, etc. Do not trust rebates or customer service from Fye/TransWorld - its bad news all around.

"Ordered GTA San Andreas from them as they offered a $20 MIR that I found online...Game was released on 10/26 but shipped from some places on 10/25, mine shipped on 10/28 and arrived 11/2 via Fed Ex. Satisfactory for a high- demand game, but we'll see what goes down with the rebate. I'll post an update...

Update 12/7/04

This company is attempting to conduct a bait and switch in order to get people to order the game from them. They have now substituted the rebate form that myself and many others submitted with a new form with changed requirements, and are denying these rebates!!! I implore you to do not EVER order from this company, even if a rebate is not involved, as they conduct business in a fradulent manner by teaming with TransWorld Entertaiment. I keep emailing them and they keep replying that "I did not fulfill the necessary requirements".. Well, on the form I submitted and of which I have a copy, I sure did. Now they have changed the requirements after the fact, in order to invalidate the rebates. Contact me for more specific info.

I will be contacting my CC company to protest the $20, and warn all to be wary of fye.com and TransWorld Entertainment, who together offered this rebate.

Go to ripoffreport.com, this is not the first time fye has denied rebates and used deceptive practices...
