"I had to replace a burned USB port on my pixel xl. Since I needed to pull it apart I also got a replacement battery and it turned out I needed to replace the display.
Ifixit provided the guides and parts to make the repairs easy"
"Very high quality parts and tools. It was a perfect fit for the iphone 6s. Free online guide was very informative. You need to review the guide and go step by step and take your time."
"I broke my iPhone 6s glass while replacing the battery in my phone. I ordered the replacement screen from iFixit to then replace my now broken screen. The original screen has a gummy adhesive around it to keep out dust and moisture. It is so sticky that it makes removing the old tricky, even while heating it up. Nearly impossible to remove without damaging the adhesive as most of it comes off with the old screen. Then new replacement does not have that adhesive, and I think it should. The glass on the new screen appears to be a little thicker than the old by about .15mm which could be a good thing EXCEPT that it creates a small ridge around the edge and a great way for debris and oils from your hands to scrape into and force their way under the glass. I called their tech support and held for 15 minutes before being directed to leave a message. I chose to send in an email instead but have had no reply yet."
"Ordered the bluetooth/Wifi card. Does not come with cable, if this is the issue. This was a slightly difficult repair, but worked as soon as I rebotted. Saved an older Macbook pro 2011."
"The YouTube video to take it out was great. Wish there’d been one to put it back in but after doing it successfully I can see why no video. Too many cuss words and hair pulling! Actually it was quite a simple process but with everything so tiny it was challenging. The hardest part was getting one of the connectors to connect and then getting the microscopic screws to stick to the screwdriver so I could get them in the hole when putting the connector cover back on. Whew! Worked perfectly. Charging now. Hope it lasts a long time. "
"Heating pad did nothing to loosen the original adhesive. The prying tool to fit in between the bezel and glass did nothing. Waste of time and $40 for kit + digitizer."
"Arrived on time, exactly as ordered. Followed guide, about ~8 minutes to install. Working Great!! Recommended!"
"I bought an iPhone 6S Plus screen from you guys and had a local repair shop install it. Now my screen randomly simulates touches for a few minutes essentially rendering it useless while it is happening. To make it stop I just turn my phone off and back on and it’s usually good for an hour or so until the problem persists... I would ask for a refund but I would have to pay the shop to take it back off and I don’t have the funds right now... Any help would be greatly appreciated..! I’ve been a loyal ifixit customer and this is the 1st time I’ve ever had any issues with y’alls products..."
"Great packaging and product and it very fast delivery, as well the guide on iFixit was great!"
"Great packaging and product. Saved a lot of $$$ by replacing the battery myself. Thank you iFixit for doing all you do. "
"Ordered from iFixit before and it was great. But, this time, I got the wrong battery for an iPhone 6s -- the connector doesn't fit because I apparently have an older iPhone 6s that needs a different battery connector. Wish I knew that before or could order for an older phone from the get-go.
The adhesive strips aren't really special either. Next time I will use double-sided tape from an art supply store; it'll be a lot cheaper."
"I used the appropriate adhesive strips to re-secure my iMac screen after an SSD upgrade. 1 month later the meticulously applied adhesive failed and the screen fell off and shattered. This adhesive has cost me hundreds more dollars in repairs."
"I was fixing the screen for my iPad Air 2 that recently cracked. I had already bought the screen from another vendor, however, I used iFixit to purchase the tools and needed adhesive. My first complaint relies with the iOpener. The original adhesive was really stuck on there and no matter how many times I kept re-heating the iOpener, I was unsuccessful with weakening the screen enough to get a tool pic under it - I tried using the iOpening for over an hour and a half. I therefore went and bought a heat gun and while being careful, I was then successful with removing the screen.
And lastly, the iPad Air 2 pre-cut adhesive is garbage, sadly. I applied it and put the screen back the way it came, however, I noticed the following day that the bottom half of the screen was lifting up (i.e. it had completely separated from the aluminum chassis). I tried pushing it back down again, however, after another day, it had separated again. I will have to find better adhesive."
"First, the battery is great! As good as the original.
The tools provided were ok. The pentalobe is fine, but the tripoint just didn't seat right through the operation.
The worst part about the upgrade was the replacement battery tabs and the phone replacement seals. Normally these shouldn't adhere to the carrier better than the intended destination... but in my case they did. I adhere the tabs to the battery (with one side of the carrier still on), then attempted to peel the carrier off to leave the tabs in place but the carrier just pulled the tabs off, and they instantly clumped up into an unusable mess. Before peeling the carrier, I did make sure that I pressed down firmly on the carrier to ensure good adhesion. Same problem with the phone seals, but to a lesser degree. Almost 1/3 of the replacement seal adhered without peel-back (with the carrier). Given then, after the operation my phone is probably no longer water resistant."
"I ordered a battery replacement kit for my google pixel xl and the tools they send are worthless. I ended up making my own tools to do the job after breaking my display. The tools they send you are blunt and weak and will not work (cheap plastic). The "Iopener" is a joke. I ended up snapping about a 1cm piece of razor blade off with a pliers and holding it with a small vice grip to pry my screen up (after breaking my screen with the plastic tool sent to me). I used a blow dryer to loosen the adhesive, worked WAY better than the stupid heating pad they send. Don't be afraid to apply plenty of heat. I then used a thin guitar pick to continue loosening the display (works better than the tools they send) with the help of a playing card. Again, I used my razor shard/vice grip tool and guitar pics to loosen the plastic piece clipped beneath. The hex bit they send is fine, but I had a set anyways (basic bit set from walmart). I have a new battery now which seems to work okay, but I have a cracked display due to the poor tools and misleading directions. Should have just sent it in. DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF TO SAVE 30-40 DOLLARS UNLESS YOU ARE QUITE HANDY AND PATIENT. ALSO, SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY AND JUST BUY A BATTERY, THEIR FIX IT KIT IS A JOKE. "
