"Absolutely miserable instructions. My experience was horrible. I was simply trying to replace the battery on a fifth generation iPod touch. The needed detail of the initial steps to remove the screen was utterly lacking and instead of removing the screen I proceeded to follow their instructions, using a razor blade, slid it right through the touch section of the screen cracking the screen and destroying the iPod. Once I got it open and could see what it was they were trying to explain, it was obvious what was needed to be done and I still can’t see in their instructions where that was called out. I was supposed to use a blade to pop the brackets holding the screen into place, and based on their instructions I proceeded to destroy the screen and those brackets. "

"Be careful when you apply the adhesive strips. The instructional video seems simple and clear. However, the adhesive strips are delicate. I recommend to first apply their long side on the back of the battery."

"My working laptop has a bad keyboard. Fixit gave me an illustrated step-by step
repair guide, including a need for one tool, a "spudger", which other sites mentioned but no on seems to sell. A search turned up automotive sites completely inappropriate. They also sold me the necessary tool, I have a similar dead PC with same kb which will be recycled minus kb. If its kb doesn't work Fixit can sell me a new one, I purchased later from Fixit an ESD safe tweezers for which I have often needed in my shop."

"The instructions to replace my Galaxy S7 Battery were detailed enough that I successfully replaced it myself (having never opened a smartphone before). However, I wish that there was a section detailing the Adhesive application, as there were 4 pre-cut adhesive strips that had no directions on where to put them. I ended up having to guess and I believe one of them was probably in the wrong spot.

Additionally, the new battery that I installed is not much better than the one I had previously. Sure I haven't had to charge it today, but with very minimal use throughout the day, it is currently at 30%. "

"The positives... I loved the idea of fixing my computer for $120 rather than buying a new one or being over charged in a repair store. I loved the idea of personal accomplishment (it's harder today than 1000 years ago, when I could have proved manhood by taking down a lion with a pebble and an inadequate twig) and I love the fact the iFixit kit came with all the tools necessary. If I were to have a niggling complaint it's nothing to do with the company... Be aware, if attempting this surgery, the glue is a (censored). Really, completely (very censored). Patience is good, suppressing OCD tendencies to clean off any sign of old glue might also be useful. You have but one life, do not waste those hours on cleaning this to perfection - you are about to put more glue on it. "
