"My 16 year old son lost one of our keys to our 2001 Lexus ES300 at the beginning of September. We went to Lexus and learned that the cost to replace the key would be in the neighborhood of $350. I decided to shop around for alternatives and stumbled upon the iKeyless website. After checking it out I decided to order a key that came with programming instructions. Even after the cost of having a locksmith laser cut the iKeyless template, the overall cost to replace the key would have been about 1/3 of what Lexus estimated. I was thrilled to be able to save such a significant amount of money.

Last week, as I was about to follow through with programing and cutting the key we received word that the original key had been found. This led to my need to return the key. I called Leah in customer service. She was very accommodating throughout the entire process and sent me a return authorization.

My only criticism would be that the delivery process was slow. I did not receive my key until about 8 days after I placed the order despite the fact that the website noted that all orders placed before 3:30 would be shipped the same day. It should not take anywhere near 8 days to travel from Louisville, KY to VA. I suspect this would be a universal and significant issue to people who are waiting to replace keys.

My overall experience with iKeyless was very positive. I will definitely come back if I ever have a need for a replacement key and will also refer my friends. Thank you for the excellent service. "

"Beware 2011 Subaru owners

I ordered a transponder key for a 2011 Subaru Forester from iKeyless, but unfortunately it was the wrong transponder for my vehicle. I took it to a certified locksmith familiar with programming keys from iKeyless, and they laser cut it and tried to program it unsuccessfully. I then took the cut key, which cost me $30 to cut, to a dealership to try get programmed. After also failing to program it, the Subaru dealer told me that it was not the correct transponder for the vehicle.

It took 9 emails, almost 2 weeks, and having to send the cut key back before they finally agreed that it was the wrong transponder for a 2011 Forester and to refund my money. I probably wasted 8 hours going to the locksmith & dealer and dealing with iKeyless for a $25 purchase plus the $30 I spent to have the key cut. I requested that they refund me the full price plus my additional $30 expense. They said they couldn't refund more than the purchase, but that I would be given a $30 credit for any future purchase with them. I doubt I may ever use it.

Before I ordered the key I asked if they were sure that it was correct for a 2011 model, and they gave me the standard answer that it had a 30 day no hassle return policy and a 90 day warranty. When I reported that the key could not be programmed, I pointed out on multiple occasions that the 2011 key differs from the 2010, even though their product description is identical for the two. They still insisted that I return the key for them to test. They found that the transponder chip was good, and finally admitted that it was the wrong chip. They claimed that my vehicle must have been a late-year model with a modified key style from the original 2011s. I doubt that, since I bought it on 12/31/2010, only ~3 months after the 2011 model had been introduced.

iKeyless finally tried to correct their blunder, but there is simply no room for them to sell a product that does not work, given the fact that the key must be programmed in order to verify whether it works. It's not like a finished product that can simply be returned. Needless to say, this was a bad transaction for iKeyless as well as for myself, but I don't think they have learned. They still offer the same key for a 2011 Forester even though they know it doesn't work. They were not able to offer the correct key."

ORGINAL REVIEW: I ordered 2 replacement keys and 1 fob for a Mazda3 from iKeyless.com. The keys they sent me were too thick, so when the locksmith cut them, they would work for the ignition but wouldn't open the doors or the trunk. Luckily, the locksmith felt bad and cut me two of their blanks for no extra charge, and they worked fine.
When I emailed iKeyless about this I received no response. So basically, iKeyless got about $40 from me for keys that didn't work, and now will not respond to my inquiries. Obviously, I can't recommend this company to anyone else.

The fob did work, even though the instructions they sent me weren't accurate. I ended up looking instructions up online. That's the only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of just 1."
