"It usually takes about 3-4 weeks for stuff to come from these folks, and if there's a problem with the order (DOA stuff, poor quality, etc.) they are hard to reach and slow to respond. But for products that are hard to mess up, like CD sleeves, you can get great bargains.
My latest purchase, a mini camera, came DOA a month after the order was placed. Their phone number rings into a voicemail loop that is never answered. It took a little over 24 hours to get an email response. They immediately issued a refund, no questions asked and no need to return the item."
"This is a terrible company. They sent defective merchandise and did not respond to emails or voicemails.
I received rechargeable batteries that were packed loose in a flimsy bubble envelope. The batteries were defective and didn’t charge. Emails to them were not answered for over 10 days. Their phone always went to voicemail and the messages left there were not responded to either. Finally they did answer one of my emails and sent me an RMA, but no return shipping label, and they ignored subsequent requests for a return label. So I had to return the defective batteries at my own expense.
Unfortunately I used PayPal for payment, which is useless when dealing with shoddy sellers. They have a claims and dispute process, but it is nothing but a venue for the seller and buyer to email each other. Paypal will not step in and issue refunds from the seller’s account. Nevertheless, I filed a dispute and then a claim. I did eventually get a refund from these guys but it took a month and was an enormous hassle and I was still out the cost of return shipping.
From the reviews here it seems some people are lucky and get good bargains from these people, but if you get defective merchandise, you’ll be out of luck.
Save yourself some grief and stay away from this company."
"Save yourself and don't order from these people. You will surely regret it.
I ordered 2 hard drives on 6/18; a few days later I got a notice that the drives were backordered with an estimated ship date somewhere mid-July. I wasn't able to cancel online, couldn't log in.
I tried cancelling twice by phone, each time I was passed from department to department, and continent to continent, each time reaching someone who said they could not help me and I'd need to speak to someone else. I never was able to reach anyone who could process this simple cancellation. Each call took over an hour before I gave up.
My email to their customer service department was answered only after several days, with a template response that didn't address my issue.
I emailed their customer service department that I would refuse the package, and was convinced to let them process an RMA. However, after 5 days of not receiving an RMA or return label, I gave up and refused the package.
I had to put the item in dispute with my credit card company. I was never able to reach anyone capable of being the least assistance.
And...the package was not packed well. There was a large hole in the carton and one end was bashed in."
"This company is in Asia. Whatever they ship, it will take some weeks. You don't find that out until after checking out and paying. I placed an order, using PayPal as the method of payment. After discovering how long the order will take to fulfill, I immediately canceled via their web form. I received a response the next day, an email saying they had issued a refund, but it was for less than the amount charged. And they didn't actually issue the refund. I don't know if they will or not, but they are certainly a hassle to deal with.
After filing a dispute with PayPal, the merchant contacted me and issued a refund. I may have been hasty in filing the dispute. I think they are a legitimate business, but they are run out of Asia and you should expect some delays at least."
"Add me to the list of people burned by these guys. They sent me software clearly marked 'Not For Resale'. Apple confirmed this illegal software. Also, I paid for Priority Mail and they shipped via regular mail.
My request for a refund got a rude response from Mike Ajlouny: "All Legal, and our shipping policy clearly states we reserve the right to ship any way we see fit. You should read it, and enjoy your huge savings. Next time you should pay full retail instead of harassing fine people over a few bucks."
Well, it's not legal (confirmed this with Apple) and I *did* read their shipping policy and there's nothing of the sort on it.
Within a couple of hours of Ajlouny's email, Mac-Pro removed the iLife 09 version from their website and is now just selling the boxed set."
"Ordered cameras at extremely good prices, but after 3 days there's no response from the seller. I've left phone messages and emails and had no replies. They haven't charged my card which is a good sign."
"These guys get bad marks from me.
I ordered a camera online on Saturday. This is a discontinued camera that is hard to find. It retails for $299 but the only places who have it in stock are selling it for $399.
These guys listed it for $299. Great. I placed the order and never received a confirmation email. I called on Monday to confirm the order and the guy has my order but claims it's for a 'wholesale' package that doesn't include a battery or battery charger. Tries to sell them to me for an extra $40.
Nothing on their site mentioned wholesale packaging. The retail package of course includes those items. I've been looking for this item for a long time and nowhere is it available in 'wholesale packaging' whatever that means.
I have no idea whether the guy was lying about the packaging to try to sell me an extra charger/battery, or whether they have a gray market camera. It's not worth the possible savings to buy from them and risk getting a camera from overseas or off the back of a truck without the manufacturer's warranty. The guy was very abrupt, borderline rude and did not inspire confidence.
Be very careful when dealing with these guys.
7/28/09: I found out 'wholesale' means gray market overseas products that don't have a warranty. If you order from these guys, make sure of what you're getting."
"I just love these guys. Ordered yesterday, received today, and the price is very right. I can always rely on the quality of their stuff, too. And they have great phone support."
"I received a quilt from this company today that smells like it was soaked in kerosene. I think it was made in a third world country and washed in some kind of bug spray. The quilt itself was pretty enough that I tried to wash the chemical out but that was a big mistake because the washing didn't make a bit of difference and now my washer and dryer smell like it.
Everything that touched the quilt smells of it too. The quilt is packed up and outside on my porch waiting to be returned. It's about 25 degrees out and I have all the windows open to try to get the smell out of my house, but it's still so bad that my eyes sting and my throat is raw.
I've ordered from Overstock before. The prices are good but the quality has been disappointing. This latest thing, though, is on a whole other level. I would not recommend ever buying from them. This is gross negligence."
"My book order came to $24 plus $16.65 shipping and handling. Ok, I can deal with that, I got a bunch of books on sale for $1 each.
My problem with this company is: The books are in bad shape. Every one has a remainder mark on it. Many of the books have bent pages, stains, and even water stains. I bought these books as gifts, many of them. I searched the product descriptions carefully to make sure the books were new and unmarked. Nowhere did it say they had remainder marks, or were returns, or were anything other than new overstocks.
My further problem is that it took 2 calls and 2 emails to reach customer service. The CSR 'Sandra' said she is the only one in the department and denied knowing anything about my emails, even though I had received a 'Read' notice from her. Then she said she'd give credit for the damaged books but not the ones with remainder marks, and no credit for shipping. I want to return them all at their expense and pay nothing for shipping in either direction.
Sandra transferred me to her supervisor who explained that their books are all returns! Not even new! Nowhere is that stated on their website.
She did lead me to a page that said their books may have remainder marks on them. But that page is not prominent, you have to know where it is to find it. And the product descriptions do NOT have have that information.
So that's what you can expect from this company. If you're okay with cheap books that may be used, and no satisfaction if there's a problem with the order, go for it."
"I live in a small town with only one shoe store, so my shoe shopping has to be done online.
I've ordered about a dozen pairs of shoes from Zappos, so far all returned. The shoes are shipped free overnight, and return shipping is also free. They issue the refunds promptly and with no hassle whatever. I had to call Customer Service and the call was answered with a live person within 1 ring.
Zappos absolutely does it right and has my business.
This is a big contrast with the misery I had with Shoebuy.com, which didn't honor their own return policies.
A word to the wise: The online shoe stores issue only ONE free return label per ORDER. If you order several pairs of shoes and they come in separate boxes, you will be stuck if you need to return them. Make a separate order for each pair of shoes in case you need to return them."
"Never EVER shop at this store. They do not honor their policies. If you need to return something you will be in for a world of grief.
Their Customer Service Rep gave me instructions for returning their shoes that turned out to be incorrect. Shoebuy has kept the shoes and will not refund my $$. I'm out $251.85.
I ordered 5 pairs of shoes. They came in two cartons - one pair in one carton and the other 4 pairs in a second carton. None of the shoes fit.
This company advertises free shipping on returns but they give you only one shipping label per order. I could not fit all the shoes in one carton. I called the Customer Service line and asked what to do. The CS Rep told me to remove the shoes from their shoeboxes so they would all fit in one carton.
Well, it turns out that's not their policy. I had to remove three pairs of shoes from their boxes to fit them all in one carton. They only gave me credit for 2 pairs of shoes.
I called Customer Service again and spoke to a supervisor. She was sympathetic but her boss refused to issue credit. Even though I had the name of the original CSR who gave me the wrong info, and even though they have a recording of the call, they refuse to issue credit.
I've put the item in dispute with my credit card and am about to call the Mass. Attorney General's office but I don't know if I'll ever get my money back.
Stay away from this reseller.

Epilogue:
I posted this review in April, it is now July. I filed a complaint with the Boston BBB and also the Mass. Atty General's Office. It took months of negotiations on the part of an angel in the Mass. Atty General's Office, but he got me my refund.
I also wrote to the President of the company and did not get a response.
I reiterate: Do NOT buy from this seller! They do not honor their policies or their word. There are other online shoe stores with better selections and excellent customer service."
"Just a fabulous experience, the best price, super fast free shipping, and even better, when I called with a pre-sales question, a live, nice person answered the phone immediately and helped me. Couldn't be better."
"I ordered on 7/17/06 and received the product on 7/19/06. So far so good, right? Wrong. I ordered a Cleartouch for my Palm Tx and that was shown on my invoice and packing slip. They sent me product for a Tungsten T5. I've emailed twice and called twice with no response at all. They don't list a phone number on their website. I found the number on switchboard. The phone is answered by a machine that says they're not available. I phoned several times during business hours. There's never anyone there and the calls aren't returned. I've heard they have good products. I would advise buying them through a reputable reseller so you have some recourse if there's a problem. These guys are out to lunch. I'm not sure they're even still in business.
Later today, I received an email reply saying the product I received works for the Palm Tx. So they sent the right product, but it was poorly labeled, they took 2 days to respond, and they don't answer their phone. I'm not changing or my recommendation to do business with a reseller, and not Boxwave directly."
