"MacPalace.com had the lowest price on an inverter board for my iMac G4, and they had reasonable shipping costs. Consequently, I placed an order and received the parts the next week.
Their order processing, however, is slow. I placed my order on the weekend, and it didn't ship until Wednesday. The first time I inquired about my order, I was given inaccurate information. The person I spoke with assured me the order was processed and would ship that day, but it didn't ship until two days later. The second time I called was two days later, when it became apparent that the order didn't ship as expected. I spoke to the same person, and he was not very helpful. He just kept repeating the order had shipped the day before without offering to looking into why FedEx didn't have a record of picking up the package.
Poor customer service isn't uncommon unfortunately, and I had, in fact, saved about $60 by buying from MacPalace. So despite receiving my order later than I had originally anticipated, I was pleased. However, a few days later, American Express called me regarding suspicious activity on my account. My account number had been used to place several fraudulent online orders, totalling about $1000. Apparently, someone had obtained my account info as a result of my ordering from MacPalace.
It turns out, the MacPalace.com web site does not use a secure connection during the order-placing process! That borders on negligence as far as I'm concerned. I e-mailed MacPalace.com about what happened, and now, a week later, I have yet to receive an apology or any sort of response. Until they redesign their web site, I suggest everyone avoid ordering from this company."
"This was my first order with iHerb.com. The company had, by far, the best prices on the items I was looking for, not to mention, it actually carried these items. Typically, companies make up for misleadingly low prices by charging outrageous amounts for shipping; this is definitely not the case with iHerb.com. The shipping cost was very reasonable, and my order was shipped the same day. The items were well packed and arrived in perfect condition."

"I found the Camera Box through its Pricegrabber storefront. It had the best price on the camera I was interested in, and its shipping costs were decent. All of the reviews on Pricegrabber, moreover, were positive. So I placed my order. The Camera Box processed and shipped my order promptly, and I received the camera in perfect condition.
The Camera Box, however, made two minor errors with my order: (1) I paid for UPS 3-Day Select shipping, but my order was sent UPS Ground; and (2) no invoice or receipt was included in the box. I e-mailed them separately about the two problems, and both times, they responded promptly and took care of the problem. They refunded the difference in shipping cost instantly and mailed a copy of the invoice the day they received my e-mail.
The response to these errors is what sold me on this company. A lot of retailers, both good and bad, can process an order and get it to you without making a mistake. But sometimes mistakes happen, and it's how a seller deals with them that separates the good from the bad. When I e-mailed the Camera Box, they didn't ignore me; they just took care of the problem quickly and efficiently. And they were nice about it too!

"Comp-U-Plus had the best prices on a memory stick and battery for my digital camera, but their ridiculous shipping costs largely offset this advantage. Nevertheless, they still offered the best overall deal, and at least they used 2nd-day shipping. So I placed an order on a Friday. According to the web site, the order should have shipped by Tuesday at the latest, and I should have received my items on Thursday, in time for family visiting from out of town.
When I got an e-mail on Sunday morning saying my credit card was charged, I thought, "Great! My order will ship Monday, and I'll get it by Wednesday." However, on Wednesday, the web site still did not show a tracking number, so I e-mailed Comp-U-Plus. A few hours later, I received a shipping notice. Apparently, they had sat on my order for three days. To their credit, they sent it using next-day service to compensate for their mistake. Unfortunately, UPS screwed up, and I didn't get my order until Friday, a day too late.
OK, mistakes happen. I understand that. But I paid over $22 for 2nd-day service to ship two lightweight items, and I essentially didn't receive that service. They screwed up and sat on my order for three days, forcing me to spend another $50 to buy a memory stick locally. So I asked them to refund the shipping charges. Their reply stated that I placed my order too late on Friday, so they didn't receive and process my order until Monday. So when it shipped on Wednesday, it was within the 48-hour processing time stated on the web site.
Now, if they hadn't started processing my order until Monday, then why did I get an e-mail sent early Sunday morning stating they had charged my card and that "my order will be shipped promptly"? And why did they eventually send it using next-day air if they hadn't made a mistake? I pointed this out to them, noting that my card had been indeed charged on Sunday, and asked again that they refund the shipping charges. I have yet to receive a reply. Gee, what a surprise. They suck. What's especially irksome is that because UPS screwed up and didn't deliver the package on time, Comp-U-Plus won't have to pay them for shipping my order."
