"I ordered my first pair of glasses from Zenni Optical last month and am impressed. Half rim frame 583621 with Polarized Magnetic Snap-on Sunlens with bifocal lenses. I am very happy with them. They fit great and I am impressed with the sunlens. Got them in 8 days. It was $17.00 extra for bifocals and $5.95 for an extra magnetic sunlens that I ordered at checkout. It wasn't completely clear if it came with one by default or not. Turned out, it did, so I received two of them, which was fine with me because I wanted a spare anyway. Total price: $47.16 with shipping and a 10% first time promo code discount.
I ordered again. This time, two pairs. One with the same frames with progressive lenses with anti-reflective coating, and a pair of single vision prescription +1 for computer glasses with $6.95 frames. I have never worn progressive lenses and have been wanting to try them. I ordered the bifocals first because I know I can wear bifocals and wanted to verify the prescription and quality. I have only had the progressives for a little over a day and am already adjusting to them. I think I am going to really like them. Zenni seems to have done a really nice job on the progressive lenses. Even if I end up liking the bifocals better, the progressives are definitely useable enough to serve as my backup pair. So I am going to keep them either way. I am very impressed with the quality of the $6.95 half rim frames. They are quite comfortable. It is $27.95 extra for the progressive lenses + $4.95 for the anti-reflective coating. The whole order for both pairs totaled $68.75 with shipping. This order I received in 13 days.
The nice thing about Zenni is that I can order custom prescription close up glasses. I am so impressed with their quality and price that I just ordered 5 more pairs all for reading and close up work, all with $6.95 frames with spring hinges. They have a pretty nice selection of $6.95 frames. Anything with spring hinges seems to be a lot higher priced in the brick and mortar optical shops. Total price: $39.70 including shipping for 5 pairs.
I am getting my prescription +2 and my prescription +4 for closeup work, 2 pairs of +1.25 plain reading glasses, and 1 pair of +6 close up non-prescription for my brother for close up electronics work.
Beware!
If you order closeup glasses, either plain +2 or +2 diopters over your prescription, you should subtract 3mm from you PD (pupillary distance) to center the magnification in your line of site. That value is recommended by Zenni. If you order higher powers than that, your PD should be reduced accordingly to have the clearest vision and reduce eye strain. It is beyond the scope of this review to explain how to calculate it. I will probably write an article about it. You can watch my web site at hightek.org for it to appear. I haven't found any other articles on it. Not even on the Zenni site."
"I ordered two pairs of Propper Men's Tactical Trousers , 65/35 Poly/Cotton
Canvas with Nylon Belt on April 13th. I had read some reviews saying that
they are often out of stock and send you email saying items are on back order
after you make the order. Sure enough, the next day on April 14th, I received
an email saying "We apologize, but your order has been temporarily placed on
hold because we have just run out of stock". I waited 10 days and called on
April 23 to check on the status. The rep said they just got them in that day
and that they will ship tomorrow. It was actually two days. They shipped on
the 25th.
I asked about why they do not show on the web site if they are out of stock.
He claimed they are working on having the ability to show inventory status on
the web site and that I can call on the phone any time to check inventory
status on an item. They did answer the phone quickly, so I can live with
that, but they really should at least make a comment on the web site, when you
add to cart, or during checkout, telling you that you the site does not tell
you if it is out of stock and that can call to check availability.
In the end, the pants I received were of excellent quality. It was worth the
wait. I will be willing to do business with them again."
"I ordered new left and right Headlamp Assemblies for my 1995 Jeep Grand
Cherokee, model numbers TYC 20307000 and TYC 20307100. Good price,
shipping was reasonable ($7.83 for both headlights), and they work
great. The old ones were really yellowed and dim, to the point that
I could hardly tell when they were on. It is nice to have bright
headlights again."
"We have bought a total of five Silencer 310 ATX power supplies for $49
each, which are the lowest end model. The first two in January, 2005,
almost 4 years ago. We are running them in servers with multiple hard
drives as well as in workstations. All machines have been running 24
hrs/day 7 days/week since we got them. Every one of them are still
working perfectly. The machines are stable and the fans are quite and
still working fine in all of them.
Prior to these, we had always used cheap power supplies. Usually ones
that came with inexpensive cabinets. It was rare to have the fan in
one last as long as a year before starting to cease up.
I will never buy cheap unknown power supplies again. It always costs
far more than the $10 or $20 I save up front. They tend to have bogus
specs, unstable power, and fans that almost always start going bad
within 6 months or less, causing us to have to disassemble the power
supply and replace or oil the fan. The cheap power supply in one of
our machines put out such unstable power that it burned up one of the
capacitors on the hard drive causing it to crash.
We have had such good luck with even pcpowerandcooling's lowest end
power supplies, and such bad luck on most other types, that we do not
even take a chance on any other brands any more.
In response to a couple of the comments by "nameless" on 10/25/05, who
was dissatisfied:
I suspect he/she has not had much experience with PC power supplies.
Molex connectors are almost always tight and a pain in the butt to
unplug. So that is not unique to PC P&C supplies. I have found that
to be the case with the 4 pin power connectors on just about every
power supply I have worked with unless the connector is worn out.
Besides, tight connectors are a plus. Loose power connectors are
resistive and can get hot and cause unstable power. So far as the
cables, we found even these lowest end PC P&C supplies to have ample
cable length and number of connectors. We have had no problems
reaching every drive in our servers."
"I bought two Codegen 9011 ATX Charcoal server cases for just $40
each. And was very satisfied until I bought a power supply
separately.
If you have a problem they will attempt to stonewall you on
refunds and exchanges. I ordered an Extremo power supply that
they claim is 500 Watts. It could not even hold up my computer
with 2 hard drives. The specs on the side of the power supply
showed only 11A on +12.
01/26/2005 Submitted RMA request
01/27/2005 Got reply that did not include an RMA number.
I replied the same day but never got a response.
02/02/2005
I called and spoke with Willi. I said I wanted to exchange it
for the 400 Watt Hercules because it is the only low cost one
that shows specs on their site and shows 25A on the +12. He
claimed they were having problems with their email and gave me
the RMA number. He said if it has similar problems, I can return
it for a refund
03/09/2005
Over a month later. Still haven't received it, so I called. Phi
said they just received it yesterday. I said I was looking at
the Fedex delivery confirmation and it was received and signed
for by Jon on 02/08/05 which was a month ago. Then he said they
must have been testing it and the case just got to his department
yesterday.
I had to tell him again to send the 400 Watt Hercules
even though I told them before on the phone and I said it in the
letter with the RMA number I included in the return package. He
said he would and and it will ship today. The tacking number
will be emailed to me.
3/14/05 I received the Hercules power supply. Again, specs on
the web site are an outright lie.
They show:
DC OUTPUT LP-6100EA
30A@+3.3V 50A@+5V 25A@+12V 0.3A@-5V 0.8A@-12V 2.0A@+5Vsb
The side of the power supply shows:
DC OUTPUT
28A@+3.3V 30A@+5V 11A@+12V 0.5A@-5V 0.8A@-12V 3.0A@+5Vsb
I decided to return this one without testing it.
3/16/2005
I called and spoke with Pete. He said to refuse the package and
DHL will return it without charging me shipping even though it
has already been opened. It is in their contract with DHL.
Willi did not tell me that and I had to pay shipping again to
return the first one. So I returned it with a letter that had
the RMA #.
4/18/2005
Again, over a month later and no refund. I tried calling and
cannot get through. I can't even leave a message because the
voice mailbox is full. I sent an email asking the RMA refund
status. No reply.
4/29/2005
I tried calling and could not get through again the first time.
It wont even let me leave a message because the voice mailbox is
full. I tried again a few minutes later and finally got through
and spoke with Anthony.
He claimed there was was no such order # or RMA #. After
debating the issue, he put me on hold and then Willi came to the
phone. He claimed they issued credit yesterday for $24.42.
However, no credit currently shows at my bank, even under
scheduled transactions.
I asked questions like, why has it taken over a month to credit
my account and why didn't they respond to my email enquiring
about the RMA status.
Every time I started to corner him with a question, he would put
me on hold for a while to get me off the subject and would then
come back and give me the same answer that I have been credited,
without answering my previous question.
I asked if they decided not to give me the refund for the other
shipping I had to pay and he said "What shipping?". I said,
didn't you have the letter I included in the box with a full
break down?"
He said, "we have credited you, what more do you want?". I told
him the reason I had requested the refund to include my return
shipping the first time because the specs on the web site were
a lie. He said they only show the manufactures specs. I started
saying that is not correct because the manufacturers specs right
on the side of the power supply don't even come close to the
specs your web site shows and he cut me off and put me on hold
again A few minutes later he came back and said "May I help you"
as though we were starting all over. I thought for a second that
maybe he sent somebody else to talk to me. I said "Who am
I speaking with now?" He said this is Willi. I said "What were
you doing?". No response for a second or two. I said, "I
thought you went to check on something relating to the power
supply." Then I got about 10 more seconds of silence and he hung
up on me.
5/02/2005
My bank account finally showed $24.42 credited to my account.
This did not include the first return shipping I had to pay.
I since have bought several 310W power supplies from
http://www.pcpowercooling.com for $49. And they work great. To
compare to the previous so called 400W and 500W PS's, here are
the specs of a true 310W PS.
DC OUTPUT
24A@+3.3V 28A@+5V 19A@+12V 0.8A@-12V 2A@+5Vsb Total=310W"
