"Although I'm not a professional photographer, and I don't normally buy photo equipment, this store seems to be the newegg of photo supply. I ordered a Canon PowerShot A75 on October 5, and a few hours later I received a phone call to verify my credit card. The man I spoke with was very succinct and polite, and had no other purpose in calling than verification. It really assured me that they conduct business in such a professional manner. FedEx said the ETA would be Monday (11th) by 7 PM. I got home from class on Friday (8th), and my roommated said I had a package that had arrived earlier. It was indeed from 17photo.com, and contained my camera in perfect condition with all accessories included therein. This was an absolutely stellar buying experience, and from now on this will set the standard for me. Oh, and did I mention that the price was $172? I was originally going to get an A70 for probably $10 more than that, but here they have a better model for as much as I was going to pay for an A70. Absolutely amazing. There is no doubt that 17photo.com will be my choice for any other photo needs I have. Excellent work."
"BRAVO! After dealing with a competitor and getting lied to, yelled at, hung up on, and almost ripped off, I tried 17th Street Photo. What a difference! The sales help was truthful, didn't use high pressure sales tactics, and was quite courteous. Not only did they sell me the product advertised at the advertised price, they upgraded my shipping at no extra cost. I had my camera the very next day. New York to California. These guys are a class act. In a retail field that seems to be full of scheisters they are a breath of fresh air. Can't recommend highly enough."

"After checking resellerrating.com and some camera forum users review, I decided to give 17th photo a try. At that time it was the only "reliable" company which had the canon 20D that I want.
Placed the order of camera on monday 4:00pm, received a phone call to verify the telephone number that I provided, the gentleman was kind and not trying to sell me anything.
On Wednesday afternoon I still did not get the tracking information, I was confused and emailed them about that, got no response. It turned out at that time Fedex already had the item delivered. Very fast shipping, indeed, and the camera was brand-new, I was happy about the camera (and the shopping experience).
The only thing not positive I can say is that their tracking system seems to be almost useless, hope 17th street photo can improve their tracking so that all the orders can show up online immediately.

"Fantastic Experience. This was my first time purchasing from 17th Street. They were the only online retailer that had my item in stock and I ordered it shipped Next Day Air via FedEx. I expected a phone call to verify the charge on my credit card since my shipping address was different then my home address. "VERY good customer service. Paid for ground shipping, was bumped up to Express Saver. FedEx was kind enough to drop it off a day early, too.
The product was brand new as advertised and works flawlessly.
The only thing that I thought was questionable about the whole transaction was that their site specifically states "No Gray Market" products, yet they are carrying USA and "International" versions of Canon lenses. They informed me that their "International" labeling is really the USA version. I'm not sure how to tell the difference and as long as the lens works, I honestly don't care.
Shipping was done on the next business day and the lens was packaged well."

I have bought all the gear I own now from these guys (Canon EOS 10D, Tamron zoom lens, Sigma wide angle zoom, Sea and Sea MX 10 and strobe). I think I may have even bought my original Sony digital from them.
Every time I'm shopping for photo gear I check Cnet. Every time there is a BIG list of stores with lower prices. Every time I look those stores up either here or at the BBB. Every time I see a ton of "Gray Market", "Bait and Switch", "Late Shipping", "Overcharged", "Order Cancelled, but card still charged", etc. comments.
I'm begining to think these guys are the only camera store in NY that isn't a fraud.

" I recently ordered a casio exilim z40 digital camera as well as a 128mb sd card. I ordered from 17th Street Photo because of its excellent rating but was disappointed. Having left on vacation, I only received the package several weeks after it had been delivered. The package contained the camera but not the sd card.
7/8/04: I received an email from a 17photo representative. He offered to send me an sd card.
I am glad to see that 17photo is a very honest company. They replied to my email with speed and efficiency and were very helpful. Every company makes small errors once in a while but few are able to solve with such efficiency and professionalism.

"I actually work around the corner from these guys, so thought I'd stop by their "store". Actually, it's inside a building and they have no retail 'front', but once inside the building and a short elevator ride up to their floor, they have a store setup with everything on display. All I can say is 'holy knowing your stuff, batman': these guys were excellent, they clearly knew what they were talking about, they're friendly, helpful, honest and above all - they have great prices.
