"Horrible.. paid extra fee to have a Valentines gift delivered to my girlfriend on our 1st Valentine's Day.. we it was never delivered on VD and 1800 flowers just closes the switchboard saying that there too high of a call volume. Plus they didnt respond to an email I gave them on the subject. Plus I dont see a refund of the fee coming. It was a horrible experience and I will never use them again. They basically stole from me and wrecked part of Valentines Day and dont care at all. They are quick to get money but dont care after that and break any and all promises. Im reporting it to bbb and my credit card company to get the fee erased. I suggest others to do that as well."
"Open letter to Jim McCann - President of 1800flowers.com
Good morning Jim,
I thought I’d spend a minute today telling you about my most recent experience with your company, 1800flowers.com.
In a word, absurd.
I placed an online order on 2/08/11 for 18 red roses to be delivered to my wife on Valentine’s day.
Simple enough, right.. that’s all your company does is arrange deliveries of flowers. You sell $500M a year, so I was confident that you could ‘deliver’ on that promise.
Nope.
Your company failed to deliver my VALENTINE’S flowers to my wife on VALENTINE'S day.
They weren't delivered by 3:30pm yesterday, so I checked online. Your ‘online tracking’ provided no information, other than a cryptic ‘we’re very busy and may not update this for 24-48 hours’. Huh?!
I’m getting really nervous now Jim, so I call and sit on hold for over 20 minutes. The rep I spoke with assured me that my flowers would be delivered by 5pm local time (business address). How she, from somewhere halfway around the Globe, could determine that was anyone’s guess. They were not delivered by 5:30pm when my wife actually left.
Utter failure.
I expect a full refund of $129.98 to my credit card or I will be contacting the NY Better Business Bureau as well as Mastercard to charge the full amount back since you failed to live up to your promise of delivering the flowers on the actual day I requested.
I have to be blunt Jim, and your company is many times larger than mine, I really think you need to take an honest look at how your company is viewed online. It’s not good, and apparently there are reasons for this.
I hope you do better - with other customers - in the future.
I'm done with you.

Here's the lame response from their 'customer service':

Fat chance I'll provide you the opportunity to serve me again. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER."
"DO NOT USE!!!!
Can NOT sat this enough.
No delivery, no service, no more..
enough said.
Thanks for a sH**y Valentines Day"
"NEVER AGAIN! STAY AWAY! They dropped the ball on the biggest day of the year, Valentine's Day. Come to find out the florist never delivered. Its their job to follow up with their deliveries, not the customers. Sure they offered me some money back, but if money was the issue then I wouldn't have ordered something in the first place. I spent what I wanted for a product and service and expected this company to deliver. This isn't the first time I've had a problem with 1800-Flowers but it will be the last. I will never be using them again and I'll be spreading the word. There are plenty of other companies that offer the same service. "
"Roses came destroyed, terrible customer service, what a terrible Valentines day present, I'm surprised my lady didnt leave me. i regret not looking at these reviews FIRST!!!! What a crock of Sh*t. I will NEVER do business with this company again EVER!!!"
"It seems 1800Flowers has ruined quite a few other people's Valentines Day. I'm sorry but I'll never be ordering from this company again. My flowers were not delivered even after paying a premium for them to be guaranteed delivery on Valentines day. It seems others haven't gotten through to customer service. Perhaps because I'm on the West Coast, I'm guessing the legion of East Coast customers complaining died down, so I was able to get through. I got a full refund and they're supposedly mailing me a $20 coupon. That doesn't make ammends for the disapointment. I hope everyone else is able to salvage their VDay!"
"Valentines Day Orders for 2011 were handled miserably by this company. I placed an order on 2/7 online for delivery on 2/14..After I placed the order I even called to confirmed delivery would arrive on Valentines Day and was reassured by customer service that it would. Valentines Day arrives no delivery and no way to speak with anyone from the company as they replay a message stating their "super busy" and are only dealing with customers via email interaction..NEVER WILL I ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN...hopefully the girlfriend believes it was the companies fault...I REALLY HATE 1800FLOWERS!"
"Do not order anything from them. they will not deliver on time. WOULD NOT ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN, THEY RUINED THE DAY. NOT MY FIRST TIME THAT I ORDERED AN ARRANGEMENT AND THEY ALWAYS SCREW UP. THANK YOU 800 FLOWERS FOR RUINING VALENTINE'S DAY. "
"Absolutely horror. Ruined my valentines day. Didn't get the flowers or even a call explaining why they did not arrive. I had to call and get a refund because they also wouldn't let me contact the florist directly. And this was at 8pm and still no flowers or call. Do not order from them unless you want to look like a fool in front of your date."
"Well, I guess I should have read this board before placing an order. I will NEVER do business with them again. In addition to not getting what I ordered on time, they screwed up the address, could not get a hold of anyone in customer service. They just tell you thay are sorry but they are busy via voicemail then disconnect. I guess I have to explain to my girlfriend that I picked a loser company to get flowers from."
"Wow. VDay, need them delivered before 5pm, so i sent an email 2 weeks in advance to let them know. got confirmation that it will be and here it is on VDay and i have to explain to my wife why she didnt get anything. Of course, it being a holiday, 800flowers just sent everyone to voicemail. I guess i'm just SOL. First and last time using it. Will be requesting my money back asap.
Thanks 1800 Flowers!!!!"
"Ordered flowers for my wife for Valentines Day on the 11th of Feb. They guaranteed they would make it in time, THEY DIDNT!!! $90.00 down the drain! I WILL NEVER USE 1800FLOWERS AGAIN!!! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE ELSE DO THE SAME!!! NOW, THEY WON'T EVEN ANSWER CUSTOMER SERVICE CALLS...if you cant handle the amount of business there is on a holiday, then dont advertise you can! WAY TO RUIN MY WIFES FIRST VALENTINES DAY SINCE WE GOT MARRIED!!! "
"It really sucks!!! i had ordered flowers for valentines day to my husband..they did not deliver it on the 14th and when i called ups they said that it will be delivered on 17th feb instead...they really messed up big time..i paid for the flowers and extra shipping so that the roses will reach on 14th feb..it was really a major turn off for me.. i was expecting my husband to be surprised by the roses..instead it was heart breaking :( :( for me.. they also do not answer the customer service call.it is really ridiculous."
"I received 18 red roses for Valentine's Day this morning from my boyfriend, who ordered them from 1800 FLOWERS.com. It has been a little less than 4 hours since I got them, but they are dying already. When I took the flowers out of the box this morning, a few of them had already wilted, but I was hoping that the rest of them would be okay if I placed them in vase filled with water -- but no, every single one of them is wilting away. I am trying to contact them to file a complaint, but it doesn't seem like I would be able to get through to them anytime today... I am really disappointed to see dying roses on a Valentine's day. I am going to make sure to tell everyone NEVER to buy flowers from this place again. What an utter disappointment!"
"order flowers ahead of time for Valentine's day. first they messed up my date of delievery. you could imagine what a mess that would have been. i had to call and cancel right away. Reschedule the date for 2/14 and the flower arrived with no roses. WTF? never ordering from them again. Worst experience ever! totally mess up my Valentine's Day."
