"I was a little annoyed when I placed an order for a buquet of gerber daisies for my sisters birthday. The shipping (which wa kept secret until my order was ready to be submitted) turned out to be fifteen dollar. That was more than half the price of the flowers themselves, but I knew she'd love them, so I went ahead with the order. Two days later, I get an email from 1800 flowers saying my flowers were shipped, via UPS. Fifteen dollars for shipping, and they're not delivered by a florist??? Call me crazy, but sending flowers kind of loses is charm if they arrive unarranged in a UPS box.
Anyway, I sent customer service a short email stating my unhappiness, and vowed never to send flowers through them again. The next day, I got a very nice email back from them apologizing. They said they credited back my card the entire amout and were sending my a $20 gift certificate. I would've been happy with just being refunded the shipping charge.
So I was pretty happy with that. The next day, she received the flowers which she was very happy and surprised to get. (who isn't happy to get flowers??) She sent me a picture and it looked nothing like what I'd ordered. The daisies I ordered were pink (thats why I ordered them. She loves pink). She received purple instead. The arrangement in the photo had 8 daisies, she only received ONE and a lot of leaves. But.. I guess you can't complain about free flowers or a free flower rather.
I have to say, I agree that the quality of 1800 flowers can be pretty low. I also am completely baffled as to why they went to shipping in a box, rather than placing the order with a local florist and delivering that way like I've known them to do in the past. However, all I did was email my dissatisfaction to CS and I got all of my money back plus a gift cert. I didn't have to spend hours on the phone or on hold waiting to talk to someone who doesn't give a crap about my problem or my business (try dealing with Pottery Barn cs... UGH!) They simply gave me what every dissatisfied customer wants, an apology and a refund, and didn't make me fight my way up the ranks to get them.
All and all, I can say regardless of everything, I will definately use 1800 flowers again because they made me feel like my business matters to them. And that really is what we're looking for as consumers, right, appreciation? "
"AWFUL! I have had an account with 1800flowers for a very long time and have only had a couple minor issues with them until now. My close friend lost her 39 year old brother unexpectedly. I am in California, she is in Tennessee. The only thing I could do was send an arrangement to the funeral home. I placed my order first thing in the morning yesterday and went on with my day. I get an email at 5:45 pm that they needed home address and phone to deliver to the family? What?!! It was too late to call another florist, and by the time I checked my email at 11pm, too late to call them. So I called first thing this morning. What a nightmare! On hold for most of the 35 MINUTE call, only to be told that the florist did not get the order on time to deliver yesterday (I placed order at 7:30 a.m.), and that there were no florist that could deliver today to the funeral home either?!!! Again, WHAT??!! I was so frustrated and angry after spending that time on my cell phone while attempting to get a 6 year old and 2 year old out the door! I told them to cancel my order and let them have it about how I felt about the whole situation. I have sent them an email letting them know that I am through with them as well. I got online and spent about five minutes finding a florist and calling them directly and having flowers delivered today. Should have done this to begin with. So, my flowers did not make it to the visitation, and would have not made it to the funeral. All I wanted to do was send an arrangement, since I could not be there, and this is the ordeal I went through with 1800flowers.com. DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANYTHING IMPORTANT! OR AT ALL FOR THAT MATTER!"
"This Company is great if you want flowers in a box! I could get a better arrangment from WAL-MART. Think about it you are unknowing that your getting flowers and SUPRISE! you get a box of flowers that are zip tied inside and wrapped all in plastic so when you open them they are all crushed and not close to resembling an arrangment. I will never order from these people again and I advise you that unless you want flowers in a box do not order from these people!"
"I bought a bouquet of flowers for my girl friend from 1800flowers.com. After i did i came across this website and read most of the negative reviews and was almost positive that my order that i just placed would be screwed up somehow. 24 hours later i come to find out that the flowers made it to her work on time and she and everyone else at her job LOVED them. I have no complaints with 1800 flowers and i believe that they deliver thousands of flowers a day and of course a few of them won't be on time or won't be so fresh but people only write a review when the order doesn't go exactly how they expected. I am ver satisfied with my order and will definitely be using them again. "
"MAJOR HEADACHE!!! It took all day to clear up THEIR mess and cancel the order...after talking to 4 customer representatives.
This should have been a simple online Christmas order. One order would have been cookies to my Mom and Sister (one address)and the other would have been a fruit basket to my Aunt. I live 2,000 miles away from them.
I placed the overall order online at 1800Flowers. They have four sub-companies under them. So you must call a new number each time.
The biggest complaint I have...they listed the billing address wrong, the street name, city, phone number and email address wrong. I called to correct it and was told that it was a VIP order and I had to call another number. I called the other number and must have been on the phone for about 2 hours while the customer service representative tried to comprehend what the problem was. She "claimed" to have fixed the address issue. WRONG!!
My sister emails me and sends me the invoices that THEY sent to her email address. My sister lives with my Mom. The idea of holiday gifts is to be surprised. Well, when a company such as this one emails invoices to the recipient of the gift...it kinda ruins the point.
So after the 4th call, I finally canceled and answered their feedback report appropriately. I will NEVER buy or order from this conglomerate of online stores EVER again!!"
"If you need Flowers in a pinch, this is definitely the website to go to. Although the prices are a little high, you get exactly what you pay for. The bouquet sizes range from small to large, and the smallest size is still rather big. I asked for delivery in 2 days and it was done on time. The arrangement looked exactly like the description online. The driver was courteous and sincere in his delivery. They provide great looking arrangements on time, and I couldn't be happier."
"I ordered a sympathy arrangement for the funeral home on behalf of my family. This was to be a standing arrangement to be next to the casket. I was guaranteed via chat that this item would be delivered by the florist by 8:30 am for viewing.
11:10 am I receive a call from 1800flowers stating that the florist failed to deliver on time and that they can provide me a full refund and 20$ credit. REALLY!!! WHAT THE HECK!!! My arrangement was for a different state, so it isn't likely that I was able to apologize to the grieving family or visit them.
After a couple of call backs and another session of online chat while on the phone I was given the local florist number to contact directly and have the standing arrangement delivered to the home.
HA HA WHAT!!! An arrangement for a funeral that fits best near the casket to be in someone's home... I asked them if it makes any sense?
They didn't care nor did they try to remedy the problem. They said "call the florist yourself".
mfkr Never again"
"This was my first order with 800flowers and will definitely be my last.
I ordered an anniversary arrangement of two dozen long stem red roses to be delivered to my wife's job. First complaint was that the flowers were delivered in a regular cheap cardboard packing box. No frills or thrills certainly. Way to cut corners 800flowers. As a result, my wife's flowers were thrown in the mail room with the rest of the day's freight.
Second complaint was the "arrangement" was in fact not an arrangement at all. After office employers finally dug my wife's flowers out from underneath God knows what in the mail room, she then had to put together her arrangement herself. 800flowers shipped everything as separate pieces. What's the point of buying flowers from a so-called Florist to do the arranging yourself.
Third complaint. To add insult to humiliation when I called and spoke to one of their service reps, "Patricia", she was VERY rude. She talked at me and over me the entire time. The more I tried explaining my dissatisfaction trying to get in a word the louder she became repetitiously rambling off policy to keep from listening to me.
Needless to say my experience with 800flowers was a complete waste of my hard-earned dollars but I'll guarantee you it will never happen again.
Take my advice and the advice of so many others on this website rating their poor service, if you want quality go to a real Florist somewhere local in your community with a good reputation and stay clear of these folks.
They miss the mark on so many levels it's not funny. "
"Should be called 1-800-NO-FLOWERS.COM They took my sympathy order on a Saturday at 3:30 PM for a Sunday delivery and called me at 3:30 PM Sunday to say they couldn't find a florist who would deliver them. What?????? After a long negotiation they offered to send a boquet for free on Monday. Trouble is, it was a different, less expensive boquet! I told them to stick it. Never again."
"we had ordered this beautiful arrangment of flowers for my mother in-law for her birthday and the picture she sent us was nothing like the flowers we had ordered. I am very disappointed in the flowers that got send. They were a birthday present because my mother in-law lives in Montana and we live in Texas because my husband is active duty United States Air Force. I don't think I will ever use 1800flowers.com again even if I have to pay more for delivery or service!"
"Where to begin with this company?
I ordered roses for my girlfriend for Valentine's Day and she received dead roses. I contacted the company and they sent me a coupon code for $20 off my next order... as if that fixes sending dead roses to my girlfriend for Valentines Day.
A month later, I wanted to send chocolates to my girlfriend on the day that I was going to propose to her. I had a fake website designed for International Working Women's Day that redirected her to another website that basically told her how much I love her, and proposed to her. BUT 1800flowers sent the flowers 3 days too early so the fake website for International Working Women's Day made no sense... because she didn't get the chocolates on IWWD, and the date didn't correspond to the holiday. I contacted 1800flowers and told them how I would have to propose 3 days earlier thanks to their mistake. I provided links to the websites that I had set up so that they could see my legitimate complaint. They completely botched my proposal by sending the chocolates on the wrong date, 3 days prior to IWWD. They said that they would credit back the $20 on the first coupon code (that I used on the chocolates) and then issue another coupon code. So, I would have $40 in coupon codes. Well, if that doesn't fix a botched proposal, I don't know what does. :(
Last week, I used the $40 in gift certificates from the botched proposal to place an order for a spray to be sent to a funeral because I read that the orders are sent to local florists; 1800flowers does not arrange the flowers. I placed the order for my Paypal account to be charged $20 too much. I have been trying to contact 1800flowers regarding the $20 refund that I am due to be transferred and disconnected numerous times. On 8/26/10, I talked to a couple of representatives who transferred me to another number just to be disconnected. On 8/27/10, after 6 minutes of wait time, I talked to Paul who transferred me and I was disconnected. I talked to Misty after 14 minutes of wait time who transferred me to a number where I was disconnected again on 8/27/10. Also, on the 27th, I talked to Janice who transferred me to Lillie who promised to try to get a refund, then said that she could not get the refund and that 1800flowers would be in touch with me "before next week."
Well, that was last week. It is Wednesday and no one from 1800flowers has contacted me. I contacted Paypal and filed a dispute resolution and received the following response from 1800flowers today:
Thank you for contacting us.
We apologize for this inconvenience. The $20.00 credit was issued to your account on 08/26/2010. Please be advised that the transfer may take up to 5 business days on our behalf and 30 days for PayPal to issue the full credit.
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to continue serving your gifting needs in the future.

Prior to this correspondence, no one had indicated that I was receiving a refund or that one had been requested, therefore I am inclined to think that, again, I have been duped by 1800flowers.
Again, Paypal has no record of 1800flowers attempting to or actually processing a refund. Why would 1800flowers say that it takes Paypal 30 days to process a refund? 1800flowers has not initiated a Paypal refund.
I doubt I will ever do business with 1800flowers. Gift certificates and coupon codes hardly fix dead flowers on Valentines Day, a botched proposal, overcharging for funeral flowers, or your customer service staff lying about refunds that were never issued. "
"After many requests, customer service (?) stopped answering my request for information regarding this order, continuing to insist that my credit card had been declined. However, on checking with my credit card company I was informed that they had received no request from this company and that my card was indeed active. The service was nonexistent and problem unresolved. This is a company no one should do business with unless they are after no service and a lot of frustration. "
"Wow, no love for 1800flowers. I remember reading these reviews after I placed my order and I was scared to death!
However, everything went smoothly and a local florist delivered a beautiful arrangement on Mother's Day (that is still alive almost 20 days later!) My only complaint is that I had no contact from 1800flowers until several hours after the order was delivered. It would have been really helpful if they had let me know that a local florist had the order and was preparing it to go out.
I think the problems a lot of people are having are with the flowers that get delivered in a box. You kinda have to read what you're buying carefully because they offer two kinds of flower delivery. One kind comes from a local florist and the other kind is delivered by UPS. A lot of the complaints I read through seem to be about that second option...problems with delivery and I'm sure UPS gets overwhelmed on big days like V-day and Mother's Day.
I'd recommend only using the delivery method that comes from a florist local to the person getting the delivery."
"I ordered the flowers on Tuesday to be delivered yesterday, Friday. I checked online today, Saturday, and they could not find the order.
I called and the woman on the phone was very polite and helpful HOWEVER after checking with the florist she came back on the line and said the florist never received the order. These flowers were for a FUNERAL to be held today.
They claim they will deliver tomorrow and discount the order.
I will NEVER order from this company again if I cannot depend on them to deliver on time especially for something as important as a funeral. There is no excuse for not getting the order to the local florist on time. It has been over a week now and I still have not received the promised credit to my credit card."
"I was very disappointed with my last dealing with 1800 Flowers. They delivered my wife's mothers day bouquet 17 HOURS late. I had to make alternate plans to buy something else when they did not show up. The next day when they did, I refused the order. They credited me everything except the shipping which is ridiculous since it was their fault that they delivered 17 hours late. They will not budge and keep reciting their policy of no credit on delivery when an order is returned. I will NEVER use them again and I suggest you all think twice also. My son also ordered flowers and they were HALF dead by the next day. They arrived with 2 broken stems. THINK AGAIN !!!"
