"I have been in the computer biz since 1988. I know my hardware extremely well, and I can honestly say that ABS PC is an incredible company. Their PC's are a great value. No one can beat the performance of their PC's for the price, which is very minimal comparitively. I simply picked a base model online, reconfigured it to the specs I wanted, and charged it. It was so easy. It even arrived early. I am exstatically happy I made the decision to purchase an ABS PC, and would DEFINITELY buy from them again!"

"Need to ammend the comment. I have now used their tech service and found it lacking. I reported a problem with the 5.1 sound system. An e-mail was responded to quickly but unfortunatly, it looks like the tech responding didn't bother reading what the problem was. I received back a stock answer "Here is how you connect it." Just to be sure, I connected it as instructed and reloaded drivers. Problem remained. My reply e-mail to tech services e-mail does not seem to have been replied to. It looks like a bad sub-woofer (actually decoder in the box) since one channel is always missing.

Order was acknowledged immediatly and credit card approval confirmed by e-mail almost instantly. They did mis-estimate the shipping date. They said ten days (and this was over the Labor Day weekend) but the first box (CPU) arrived in about 7 days and the monitor and sound system box arrived on day nine.

When it arrived, the installation documentation was excellent and the system performed very good right out of the box.

A few minor details were that using the 8x AGP had to have the AGP driver installed. This was not clearly mentioned in the documentation but it wasn't hard to figure out since the ASUS CD had the driver needed right there. The motherboard book also explained the use of the various audio jacks in a 5.1 enviorment. A bit more documentation would have been nice since the color code on one jack was not carried through but again this was a minor problem and all the information needed was there to be found once I looked for it.

This was a fairly high end system and it has performed just fine for the week or so that I have had it other than the above mentioned 5.1 problem. Tech service replied quickly but uncompletly to my e-mail. My followup e-mail has not been responded to yet. It looks like a Creative problem but ABS should at least reply.

I now have seven systems in my house ranging from a Commodere to a ABS P4 800. I still have a Quantex (no longer in business), Cyberpower and now the ABS. ABS was the choice for this latest purchase based on what they provided for the money. Cyberpower was a close second but fell out when the extra $100 plus for shipping was added. ABS Free shipoping sealed the deal.

"I haven't had cause to call service, so I cannot comment on that end. I had Win2000Pro installed for the operating system instead of XP, at the advice of most of the geeks I know. (I'm mid-level knowledgable about what I need to know most of the time, but in no way a geek. From them, I just follow advice. Besides, I really didn't like having to call MicroSquish to approve my use of an operating system I had already paid for.)

After getting a virus program and getting rid of a number of virus problems caused by the stupid move of not having a virus program for the first couple of months (I got from a Singapore group cauled Hauri after testing Norton and the other popular brands and finding them wanting -- just thought I'd throw that in, because I really like Hauri's program), and adding Sygate Personal Firewall, I would have to say that I have had no problems with my ABS Computer that were not caused by bad programs or a stupid operator. In fact, if I were to buy another computer now, I would get another ABS of some kind.

I hope this helps someone who is trying to decide if they want to spring for the deal.

"I purchased a computer from ABS primarily for video editing. They provided the most power and features for the lowest cost of the many manufacturers that I checked out. Delivery was timely and all equipment and materials were included. The LCD monitor failed 10 minutes after I turned it on. A call to ABS was promptly answered and I was directed to Viewsonic where they cross-shipped a new one to me the next day. I am very happy with my purchase and experience with ABS except for one thing: I had specified two hard drives with my machine. A 120 Gig unit for the main programs and a 250 Gig drive for media storage. When configuring my unit at ABS, someone decided that I really should have the larger drive for my programs. They switched the hard drives without my consent. I was not happy with this, but did not want to ship the machine back to have them change it, and I'm not computer savvy enough to re-configure the machine by myself. I am very disappointed that they did not configure the machine as I had requested. "

"My experience with ABS has been almost phenominal.

I began my search for my college computer by looking at PC World's and PC Magazine's ratings of computers currently being sold. ABS topped the lists for value and customer service. I'll admit, though, I was wary about ordering from a company that I've never heard of [ABS is a little more obscure than the giants like Gateway, Dell, IBM, Apple, et al.] So I feared that placing my faith, and money, in a company that is smaller could result in me being ripped off. I thank God that ABS is the reputable, honest company that the trade magazines build them up to be.

The order process was a little more difficult than I had expected, but I'm glad that it was. In order to have the computer shipped directly to my dorm room, the address of my dorm room had to be a valid address of the credit card, which is an understandable anti-fraud measure. However, the only timely option that I was left with was to wire the money directly to ABS's accounts. Wiring money is a terrifying proposition -- if the account number or routing numbers are off, then your money vanishes. All worked out, though, and ABS recieved my funds.

My computer arrived when ABS said it would and was packaged beautifully. The included manual is awesome. All of my boot disks are organized nicely. Great touch! As for the computer itself, an ABS Awesome 3300, it is a magnificent machine. It is incredibly powerful, especially for the $1,322.99 price. My only complaint is that I ordered all of the fan and case lights for my gorgeous case to be blue. Two fans are red. The blue ones were strangely shipped separete in their original packaging, and not installed. This is a minor complain though.

I am extremely satisfied with the wonderful computer ABS sent me. The craftsmanship is top notch. The price was amazing, concidering the top notch components that ABS included [Athelon 2800+ w/ 333mhz bus, 512 megs of ram, 120 gig HD, Soundblaster Live 5.1 card, Asus video card, Logitec 640 5.1 speakers, DVD, CD-RW, 15" LCD monitor, awesome looking case, etc. etc. etc.]

As the owner of a PI Packard Bell, a PII Gateway, and a PIII HP, I know a little about computers, and my ABS Awesome is the best I have ever owned...bar none. I give ABS my highest recommendation.

"I found a hard drive on pricewatch - there were 2 companies listed that had the same street address, but different 'unit' numbers. I called the first, crappy phone service and they wouldn't honor the pricewatch price. I then called ABS, who were very nice on the phone, and told me to call them up again or email them after I had placed the order, and they would adjust the price to match. I did, and so did they.

My order arrived quickly, with no errors.

"I searched several places before deciding to buy from ABS Computers, and I have been extrememly satisfied with the entire experience. Being able to go to the site on a periodic basis and check on the status of my system's construction was quite interesting. Then we come to the shipping ... they told me it would at my place on such and such a date. However, it arrived a day AHEAD of schedule! No complaint here!!"

"I ordered an Ultimate M5 a few days after debating if I should or not. For my indecision, I missed out on a special offer than were running the weekend prior. Out of curiousity I asked the customer service rep. if he'd still honor the price. And to my surprise he said "Yes." This definetley sealed the deal for me.

After I received it I was amazed at how great this pc was (this was my second machine i have purchased through abs...they both are great!)
It handled both my professional 3D applications as well as my games flawlessly...

Their price, performace and service is top notch...I will be buying again.
