Items are placed on backorder when the manufacturer, temporarily, is unable to fulfil orders based on current stock of that particular item. You requested a substitute for the backordered item and we did our very best to find a thermostat similar to the one originally ordered. This thermostat, which cost significantly more, was discounted as a courtesy but in the end it was still slightly more than the original.
