"Well built computer for a great price. Second computer I have bought from AVA. Got almost 4.5 years from first one. This computer was packed super nice and started right up out of the box. Would order another one again. Can barely buy the parts and assemble for what they charge for doing all the work."
"Great system! Ordering on the web was was easy and the offered selection was outstanding. They ask about your configuration desires prior to assembly, deconflict any poor performing aspects and then produce a phenomenal system! The assembly was second to none - all cables were secure and routed perfectly through the case and the components are high quality. This is a great company - not a budget computer factory like some of the others on the web. Customer service is responsive and professional and their product is great. My system had no issues and runs as I expected. I'll order from them again without hesitation!"
"AVADirect is absolutely GREAT! This was my first custom computer build so prior to ordering my computer I researched lots of companies and lots of different computer components. AVADirect had very good reviews, especially in the past 12 months. Some of the other companies I researched didn't compare near as well with the review sites, customer reviews and with the better business bureau. I chose AVADirect on the basis of reviews, price, flexibility and communications prior to ordering my system. The price for my system was about 80% less than most of the other computer builders, and, I priced out most of them. The price was also within about 5% of me ordering the parts and building it myself. I also avoided the hassle of a build and added the benefit of a 3 yr parts and labor warranty. I ordered a fairly high end system (I7-3930K, GTX 570 GPU, 128 GB SSD.... etc). Two days after I ordered a problem was reported with the CPU. ADADirect CONTACTED ME to let me know of the chip problem and offered me the option of continuing my build with the current chip release or to put my build on hold until the updated CPU was released. I chose to wait for the updated CPU. While I was waiting, 6 weeks (NO FAULT OF AVADIRECT), a problem was discovered with the SSD I chose. I contacted AVADirect and they assured me they would update the firmware for my drive prior to shipping my computer. Even before the updated CPU started showing up in blogs around the internet AVADirect contacted me to inform me they got an early release of the new chip and my build was underway and should be arriving in a few days. My system arrived 2/4/2012. I Still don't think the new release of the CPU is available on newegg or amazon. When my computer arrived it was packed very securely, inside and out. All the documentation and disks for all of my components were included. I unpacked my computer, plugged it in, and have been running it continuously for about 3 days. I also received a credit for my order because I ordered extra fans that couldn't be used in the build. AVADirect issued me the credit without my knowledge that the fans weren't used. Very Nice!!! Every communication I sent to AVADirect (about 15 of them) was responded to within 1 or 2 hours (when during business hours) or immediately the next morning if during the weekend or later in the evening. All the responses addressed my concerns or questions directly. I couldn't be more happy with my decision to buy my computer from AVADirect. The entire process was handled fast, professionally, and at a price I couldn't find elsewhere. I highly recommend AVADirect for your next computer build.
A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER.... UPLAYHARD2"
"Great system at a price that no one else could match. Professionally built and tested. Highly recommended."
"This was my first time shopping with AVA Direct. I was in the market for a desktop workstation (minus the workstation price). I ended up ordering a pretty beefy desktop that works as well as a fancy workstation would (thanks to nVidia CUDA tech - but that is different review entirely).
I searched long and hard for a custom builder online and found AVA to have the best selection of components at the best price as well.
There was a slight hiccup with my order when the case I had requested arrived at AVA damaged (though I get the impression that was the fault of whoever was delivering it to them and not theirs). However, they did offer me a free item to make up for the inconvenience and promptly built and shipped the computer soon after. Also, communication with AVA was really good. I have gotten used to dealing with HP and Dell over the years - which was just torturous. Here, all my questions were answered promptly and pleasantly.
Despite the fact that all of the custom builders I checked out ship via FedEx or UPS, AVA had the best price. Maybe I was just lucky that their location was closer to mine (Hawaii)? I don't know, but I am happy none the less.
It arrived on time and in a good amount of safety packaging with everything working and looking great.
I still plan on adding components to this system over time (like an nVidia Tesla)- So I will be returning and likely leaving with a smile :)"
"AVADirect did a custom gaming rig build for me (Intel I7 2600K, P67 mobo, 2x Nvidia GTX 570 video (SLI), 120 GB SSD). I was very satisfied with the experience.
Pros:
-- great configuration flexibility (could specify exactly what brand/model case, mb, psu, video card, CPU cooler, etc.). Best on the Web. #1 reason I went with them.
-- very competitive pricing. The price you pay for the build above the basic parts cost is quite reasonable. #2 reason I went with them.
-- great customer support. I had to go back and forth several times with parts changes, but customer support was very responsive.
Cons:
-- took several weeks to get the computer. Part of this was due to the fact that they were custom building every aspect, and thus had to order some of the parts. The initial delivery time was too optimistic.
Overall:
-- I would definitely buy from them again. "
"I had a wonderful experience ordering my computer through AVA, and I would recommend them to others. After placing the order, I had to change out the CPU due to availability, and it was easy to work with the customer service representative to so so. The only negative was the overall timeline. It took 24 days from the day I ordered to have it on my doorstep. However, everything on it worked well."
"Very easy to create a customized computer. I told them I had a hard drive I wanted to add to my system and they installed SATA cable and power cable for that purpose at no extra charge. Little things like that are appreciated. Shipping cost to Alaska was very high, but survived FedEx's 2-day service which took around 5 days."
"Everyone that I talked with was very professional and knowledgeable. Some of the best customer service I have had. I will recommend AVA to my friends when they need a new computer (custom or per-built)."
"Great price for a well build PC. Excellent customization and great selection. Will buy again and had recommended AVA to many friends. Only nick nag that bugged me is I had to wait 1 full month for PC to get process. Most other even with 4 days burn in testing turn around should be 7 days build at max. Regardless, Thank you for awesome PC."
"This was an excellent experience. I gave sales rep Joe Mundy my requirements and budget and AVA built a killer unit. They even installed a special sound card I sourced from a dealer in Florida - had to make sure everything worked. The wokmanship is outstanding, very professional, and the price was very competetive with the big name brands.
Thanks "
"I had some trouble with AVADirect purchasing a heatsink clip, but they have agreed to send me the correct product via one day mail and give me a full refund. This was the only way of resolving the problem that I would be happy with, as I am loosing time to finish my college work. It has not arrived just yet, (They sent it out this morning) but when it does I will edit my ad with a report as to the suitability of the product, though I expect no problems this time. I am also changing my rating due to the resolution they offered, though I feel I need to deduct a single star as the shipment required a resolution."
"excellent,friendly service."
"I am very pleased with the laptop I purchased from AVAdirect. I've had it for several months with no problems, and the speed is amazing, especially for the price. Customer service was impeccable and I experienced no difficulties in the ordering process."
"I have purchased many computers over the last 25 years, but the last 3 have been my best purchases by far. Why? Because I bought my last 3 from AVADirect, and AVADirect builds awesome computers! Using their highly detailed configurator on their web site, I was able to specify EXACTLY the configuration of computer I needed. As a musician and digital artist, my needs are very exact. AVADirect even let me specify the brand of components used, as well as the performance characteristics. My computer was custom built from my order, and shipped to me very well packaged.
Regardless of packaging, the first thing I do when receiving a computer is to open the case and check for issues caused by shipment and handling. The first time I did this with an AVADirect computer, I was pleasantly surprised. The quality of the build was immediately and easily seen. Cables were well secured and placed for maximum efficiency and airflow. Internal magnetic and RF fields were taken into account. Extra parts such as custom brackets were used to place items properly and securely. The REALLY amazing thing is that AVADirect is very price competitive with other PC sellers. VERY price competitive!
Basically, my experience with AVADirect was so good with my first purchase from them that I pretty much stopped looking anywhere else when I needed another computer. Nothing has changed after 2 more purchases. I am a HIGHLY satisfied AVADirect customer, and don't see why I would want to go anywhere else. Outstanding quality at an excellent price is a pretty compelling value proposition!"
"I ordered a MSI MS-1761-ID1 Laptop from them. Now here's the only good part, they shipped it within a decent time frame and packed it well. Now here's where the headache starts. I ordered it with a 120GB Mushkin Chronos Deluxe SSD. The SSD would not be detected from a cold boot. Upon further research I found that upgrading the firmware would solve my problems and indeed it did. I ordered it without an operating system as I like to install all software myself. I grabbed a Retail Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit CD and tried to load windows. Windows would freeze everytime during the installation. The only thing that worked was setting the BIOS to IDE instead of ACHI and after doing this Windows loaded extremely slow. Long story short is that Windows would not work on this computer in AHCI mode. After lengthy call with tech support and having run a few tests they suggested (Memtest86 would freeze), they told me I would need to send my computer back and that they would pay for return shipping since it was a non-functioning computer. A couple days later after NOT receiving a return shipping label I decided to call them up and see what the problem was. After speaking with the same tech person, they decided to renege on sending the return label and told me I had to pay shipping. After numerous calls and and a very heated conversation with the owner Alex I decided I had enough of this company and asked for a refund and that they pay the return shipping. Of course they did not want to do this and it took a couple more phone calls and emails but eventually Joseph (Customer Service) agreed in an email that I will be eligible for this full credit, including original shipping costs, upon confirmation that the notebook has been returned to them with no physical/cosmetic damages, signs of abuse or misuse. I sent the computer back and about 2 weeks later a refund was issued for the cost of the computer only. They did not refund the original shipping cost per their email which was quite a bit due to the fact that I'm in Hawaii. When I asked Joseph about the refund of the original shipping he told me that I'm lucky they didn't charge me a restocking fee and that Alex was generous enough to do that. How can they send me a non-working computer, expect me to pay for the return shipping, and have the nerve to mention restocking fees. This is the WORST computer company I have ever dealt with. They make promises in writing (I have the emails) and then renege when it comes time to deliver on those promises. I'm sure if I took them to court I'd win since I have their emails with all their broken promises. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these crooks."
A rep from AVADirect Custom Computer, MerchServe, has responded:
“We are terribly sorry your experience with AVADirect did not live up to your expectations. After our technical support department continued to provide technical support for your windows installation issues, we provided you with a pre-paid label to ship the notebook back to us for a refund after expressing your indifference through several obscenities. Upon receipt of the notebook at our facility, in an attempt to re-create the issues you were experiencing, our RMA department was able to install Windows, updates, and drivers without issue. According to our policy, shipping charges are not refunded for products in working condition. Our policy also states we do not support software that was not purchased from AVADirect.
Though you are not satisfied with your experience, AVADirect still strives on providing the best customer service and quality products within the IT industry. We would very much like to work with you so both parties can come to a mutual agreement and understanding. Please contact us, at your convenience, so we may assist you further. Thank you 216-503-6361”
