"I ordered a HDTV from them and the status was "order received" for 3 days. It was partly my mistake because I had entered the address wrong. I called their number and after on hold for half an hour I was answered and the guy took my order number and name and just put me on hold for another 10 minutes. Then he just said he's transferring me to another guy, Lary. I informed this guy about the address correction and asked when it'll be shipped. He said 2 weeks!!! I live on the west coast and I understand if ground shipping takes a week. But this cannot be right. I still went ahead and asked him about the price. There were a few other stores selling the same model for about 80 bucks less and abes of maine tout the "lowest price guarantee" all over their website. So I asked him about it and he bluntly said " no we won't price match, no we don't offer any such lowest price guarantee". At this point I was very much dissatisfied with the rude customer service. I told him to just cancel my order. He gave me a cancellation number. I checked back at their website which now says the order is in process. May be it is not updated yet. But my credit card has not been charged. So, I'll keep an eye on the charges. If I get charged, I'll call them back to cancel it.
The overall customer service experience has been very disappointing and I will never buy anything again from this seller. I'll strongly recommend my friends who have lots of cameras to stay away from abesofmaine.

"On Sept. 25th. I ordered a Lenovo laptop online via the Abe's website. Two days later I get a voicemail saying it was urgent I call about a problem with my order. After being on hold for 1/2 hour I finally get to Sam the man who had called me. He told me there was no problem with my order only that they needed to confirm my address and that my laptop would ship that day. After confirming he put on a very hard sell to try and get me to purchase ext. warranty or more memory. I told him again that I was not interested and asked if my order would ship that day. He said it would and again started to try and upsell. I told him no thank you and hung up.

The next day I checked the website and found the item had STILL not shipped. I again called Abe's and was told my order was in back order but I could pay to expedite shipping. I demanded that my order be canceled at that point and immediate refund issued. I was told that the billing office was closed (this was during business hours on a Friday) and that I would not get a refund until it opened. I hung up at point and filed a dispute claim with Paypal. The "closed" billing office refunded my money on Sunday.

It was all a scam to get me to upsell. I'm sure that if I had paid for the warranty or extended shipping my "backordered" laptop would have instantly shipped. Save your money and do business elsewhere. You'll pay more but get faster shipping and not have to check your wallet.

"I don't even know where to begin to express my dissatisfaction with this company. One thing I do find funny though is how I mentioned to their V.P. that their ratings on this site have tanked over the last few months and all of the sudden there are 3 positive reviews from users with only 1 review.

I have been lied to from everyone in that company from the customer service people all the way up to the V.P. Before you order from them do yourself a favor and instead of pushing 1 to speak with sales press 2 to speak with customer service, I will guarantee you will be on hold at least 20 minutes. That should be enough to tell you something right there.

First it was "the item is drop shipped by the mfg. we have no control over when they choose to ship" That wasn't good enough so I call the mfg. and they tell me there is no order for me after I've been waiting over a week. I ask if they are out of stock and they tell me no, we have plenty in the warehouse.

After a few more days it's "let me call my rep with the mfg. and get back to you" I have to call his boss to even get a call back then it's "they have had your order on hold for 10 days because they are out of stock and won't have any for a few more weeks" When I call him on his lies he starts backpedaling so I hang up and call the V.P.

I leave a couple voicemails and emails, he finally promises to call me the next morning and find out what happened, he never does. When I do finally track him down a day or two later it's "I will take care of it personally, I'll order it Monday and pay to have it shipped 2 day delivery, you will have it Wednesday" I agree on the condition that he call or email me with a tracking number on Monday which he agrees to. Monday comes and I hear nothing but i see the order date changed on my account on their website so I decide to wait until Wednesday and see if it comes. Of course it doesn't so I call my credit card company and dispute the charge.

After he sees a bad review on another site he emails me and says he doesn't know what happened, he ordered it himself and will call me first thing in the morning to see what happened. That call never came either.

Stay as far away from this place as you can, I have never had anywhere near as horrible of an experience shopping online as I had here.

"I will not be ordering from Abe's of Maine again. While everything turned out ok and I thank them for that I am not a fan of their high pressure up-sell tactics after placing an order for a $2k+ TV. After repeatedly refusing additional accessories and higher prices shipping option my order was finally ready, or so I thought. After 1 week of no shipping notification I attempted to call Abe's of Maine and after several attempts and waiting on hold for upwards of 30 minutes each time I was finally able to speak to a representative who informed me they did not have that TV in stock and it would possibly be available the following week, even though their website makes no indication of this. At this point I decided to cancel my order and purchase it through a more trusted retailer.

As I said Abe's of Maine took care of the order cancelation and refund, I'm just not a fan of the high pressure, poor communication and lack of inventory information.

"I have had great experience with Abes of Maine over several years. I have purchased 2 G12's and numerous L series and E-fs Canon lenses in the past 2-3 years, and in every case, I received a fair price, a 10$ off loyalty discount, fast free shipping and an email notice with tracking from shipper. Yes, they have the obligitory "upsell" call where they have left message to call them back. In all cases, I did not, and my ordr was shipped out 1 2 days later without ever any issue. They are my go to source for Camera needs."

"I placed an order for a Bosch double hung oven on Friday 9/14 at 12:45 pm. I was told the item was in stock and would ship out quickly. Sunday a sales rep called telling me I should pay an extra $199.99 for white glove shipping so this way it would stay on 1 skid and be delivered directly from the store. So much for FREE shipping. He then tried to sell me a 5 yr warranty. When I declined he offered $50 off the price. I still said NO. I called back on Wed and was told it would go out ASAP. My credit card was quickly charged for this expensive purchase and it is almost 1 week and still no delivery date. Next time I will shop elsewhere even though it would cost me a few dollars more!"

"I purchased a small Summit fridge for under the counter.
The purchase end of the business is easy, effective and unlike some of their competitors the items listed are actually in stock. You will receive a call for an upsale, something that seems to bother some, but business is business and I purchased the 'improved' shipping - after all free shipping on bulk items seems suspect.
Where Abe's fails is all too common: when something goes wrong. In this case the 'improved' shipping. So what happened? A rundown:

I instructed the shipping company to give me a 30 minute call ahead for a delivery scheduled between 1-5pm. I received a call at 5pm indicating delivery in 15 minutes. As a result I couldn't make it home in time.
Abe's requires you to check the delivered item, not just the shipping container prior to signing. The shipping firm will only allow you to check the exterior of the box which in this case appeared unblemished. They wouldn't wait for my arrival and wouldn't allow full inspection. They then pressured my wife, in the mist of getting 3 kids out, to sign.
On opening the box we discovered extensive damage; the fridge had evidently been repackaged at some point. The bottom of the fridge was misaligned, the steel frame buckled, the mounting bar for the compressor bent sufficiently that the metal mounting screws had snapped and the hinge mount for the door bent sufficiently that the door won’t stay on. It has almost certainly been dropped from a height.
A large yellow label gave a number to call for damage: 1 800 992 2237. After several unanswered calls I was eventually told to call extension 229. Subsequent calls to this extension have resulted in voice mail, other calls to the operator have gone unanswered.

So in short what am I left with? A $540 hole in my account, a block of steel and plastic I will now have to pay to have removed and an unresponsive company with appallingly bad ‘improved’ shipping.

Do yourself a favor, don’t buy from Abe’s – choose a more honest business.

"I purchased an item online from www.abesofmaine.com on 08/19/2012. According to my receipt, I was supposed to receive this item within 5-7 business days. Attempting to be patient, I waited approximately double that before I tried phoning their customer service line. The representative I spoke with could not account for my item, explaining only that "it was shipped to warehouse" & putting me on hold until I could not wait any longer. Since then, I've been unable to make any contact, phone or otherwise. I've submitted multiple online complaints through their website, to no avail. It's been a month tomorrow, & I'm becoming very disgruntled. At this point, I'm attempting to get my money back to take my business elsewhere."
