"I recently ordered a camera charger from AccessoryCircut.com. After shopping around many different websites, I found that they had the best price. I placed the order on the morning of April 21st. At 11:30am EST (I live in Boston and they are based in LA), I received a call from them telling me that the item I ordered was on back-order, but they would like to replace it with another item at the same price. The item that they replaced it with was comparable, and in many ways better than what I had originally intended to get.

I received my charger the NEXT day on April 22nd.

I was completely impressed with the level of customer service, the courtesy, and the initiative that AccessoryCircut took. This was my first order from them, and it was such a favorable experience that they will always be at the top of my list when looking for electronic accessories.

"They had a problem with my order so I canceled it after long waiting. Then I received a call from Michael. He was polite and seemed trying hard to solve the problem. "Ordered Canon 430EX II Speedlite E-TTL II Shoe-Mount Flash on April 18, 2010. Received email next day saying order is canceled, but after communicating with Michael Stevens, it turned out to be because the phone number was mistyped.

He's assured me I will receive the flash next week. I'll look forward to it!

"If you want a camera accessory for the lowest price possible, you can get both from AccessoryCircuit.com. However, you will have to jump through some hoops along the way, so it depends how valuable the savings are to you. Here is my experience ordering a Canon 500D close-up lens...

I searched for this lens online, and AccessoryCircuit.com offered the lowest price ($79.44 including shipping). From past experiences with other discount vendors, I was somewhat leary that this might be a so-called bait and switch scheme; however, their average rating at ResellerRatings.com was pretty good so I took a chance.

A day after I placed the order on-line, I got an email saying that the company had been trying to reach me by phone (they hadn't been) about a problem with my order. Sure enough, when I called I was told that the item was on national back-order from the manufacturer (it wasn't) and wouldn't be available for several weeks. I said I wanted to cancel my order, but the person on the phone tried to talk me into a similar item made by a different company. After I insisted on cancelling, the sales person finally said "fine" and hung up without saying anything else. I figured at that point, that this was indeed a classic bait and switch scheme and that I would have to now figure out what the best, legitimate price was for the lens I wanted. However, it did not end there after all.

About five minutes after posting a negative account of my experience on this website, I received a call from a Michael Stevens at AccessoryCircuit.com. He was already aware of my posting to ResellerRatings.com and told me that it was his job to do whatever was necessary to ensure my customer satisfaction. He said that he would even be willing to get the lens for me from a competitor if he had to (that should sound familiar if you've read other people's posts here). He also told me that my low rating was like an "explosion" for his business, and asked if I could re-evaluate after talking to him. I said that if I got the desired lens for the advertised price, that I would indeed by happier and would reflect that in my review. So, I changed my review, Michael called to say he had found the item, and I received it the next week for $79.44 (including shipping) as promised.

Given that this experience is exactly as described by others (almost word for word) it seems that AccessoryCircuit.com (like many other low-priced vendors) advertises the best price available, tries to talk you into buying a similar off brand item instead (hence the term bait and switch), but will honor the advertised price if you do not yield or if they are faced with the possibility of a negative online review (thus their reasonably high average rating). I don't plan to do business with them again, but I can't claim that I didn't get the item I ordered for the price they advertised. You'll just have to decide whether you want to play their game (knowing that your good bargain comes at the expense of others who are less informed).

"I had placed an order for Sony HVL-F42AM flash. Like other poster mentioned, I was told to call and was informed that the item was back-ordered for 4 to 6 weeks ( seems their favorite line) I was offered an aftermarket flash with major price reductions. I refused and told them that I can wait but they should send a confirmation email.
Since no mail was received, I called after 3 days and was told that flash will be shipped today from New York. After a day I called again as no tracking was provided. Customer service insisted that I will receive the shipment after 7 days ignoring my question as to when was it shipped. When I prevailed, I was told that the item was shipped from California yesterday and he doesn’t have tracking details. Later, Michael called and informed that since they were sold out y’day the flash will be shipped out today from their California warehouse and will take about 7 days to reach.

I requested them to cancel the order as I lost faith in what they were saying. Starting from flash is backordered for 4 to 6 weeks and then suddenly it is available as I refused to accept after market product. Then will ship from New York today which turned out to be false. Next it is already shipped but have no tracking details to which finally Michael confirmed that it was not shipped.

In my opinion it is not worth dealing with a company who don’t hesitate to lie through their teeth.

UPDATE

The explanation seems reasonable and palatable. I believe we all can falter once in a while. Accept it gracefully without writing nasty emails to a customer who has been fed lies. Seller sent me 2 emails, 1st one came 5 minutes after I insisted on cancelling my order.

Email said that because I am not a reasonable person, therefore my order is cancelled

I am unreasonable because I caught their lie and requested to cancel the order.

2nd email was in my inbox in less than 20 minutes of posting the review of this site and refusing to accept Michael’s offer to send a superior flash at corporate price.

Their email said that what I am doing is not ethical, requesting to cancel my order is unethical ?

I would have preferred a formal apology via phone /email and instant refund of my money.

UPDATE

Early last week Michael called and not only accepted that my order was mishandled by trainee reps but I wasn’t treated the way paying customer should be treated. He didn’t hesitate to apologies. He also offered to send the flash. I thanked for his offer and declined. He assured me that my refund is processed and in a day or two it should hit my account. Sometime late last week I got the refund and I am relieved that this is behind us.

"I was a little nervous to buy from this company since it didn't have stellar ratings. I decided to order from this company because I was impressed at how they responded to the negative comments and the price they offered for the Canon 430EX II Speedlite was very reasonable. I ordered the flash on Friday. Sunday morning I received a call telling me the flash was backordered 4-6 weeks and would I like to order the Sigma instead. I was a better flash, yada yada. They didn't get around to telling me a price on it though because I said I wasn't in a hurry and could wait for the Canon. "You don't like the Sigma?" They said. "No, I'd rather have a Canon. Thanks." "Oh, okay." So the next day (amazingly) I received a notice that the flash had shipped. It must have gotten back in stock sooner than they expected. I got my flash today (6 days later). It seems to work perfectly and I am happy with it. I'll let you draw your own conclusions about their business practices, but I'm satisfied with the transaction. My advice is that you can get a good deal if you don't let them talk you out of it."
