"Same thing here, they did not send what I ordered and failed to notify me of the switch. This company sucks and I will never order from
them again. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!!!"
"Well.. the bottom line is what everyone else here has said is the honest to god truth.. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I would explain but I dont think I have enough room in this feild, So take everyones advice don't even think about buying anything from this company."
"this company is a rip off. you buy one product and they ship a inferior product to you.. if you complain they do not answer there email.. stay away from them and save your money. these are first class con people"
"Got a great deal on a Athlon XP2600+. Got a confirmation email immediately, but have yet to get the shipping date. No returns of my emails and the phone number is always busy. I doubt I will get the product and have already ordered another product from newegg. If you click on feedback, you get a bogus email."
"I ordered my CPU from Accubyte, and just canceled it today. I ordered my motherboard and my case from another company two days after I ordered my CPU and they have arrived. While my CPU was still "processing". Accubyte is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. Stay away from them like the plaigue!"
"It's was a long time ago I ordered from this site, and from looking at their ratings they are even worse when I ordered from them. Be very carefull when dealing with them, because they like to bait and switch products, in my case a cpu and motherboard. If you have a problem try Tony, the others generally tend to give a run around."
"I have purchased many pieces of computer equipment from many sources, but have never had the experience that I am STILL having with this company. I am being told that my card information cannot be verified for my purchase, yet my card shows that it's already been charged the full amount (within hours of the purchase). Every attempt I make at getting questions answered is either met with being put on hold for 15 minutes (and then disconnected) or that "we tried talking to your bank but they were at lunch". I should have had my package on Monday morning, now it's Wednesday night and they can neither confirm or deny anything. I work in the IT field (not as a reseller) and have some idea of how the process works (this is not the way, Accubyte). The customer service is abominable, I am getting a runaround, and now I would like my money back before it gets really ugly. I get no responses from email, none from voicemails I leave, and non-answers from the C/S people. I contacted my bank, and the information they have is correct, so the problem lies with Accubyte. If they are unable to deliver the product, you would think they would have enough grace to admit it and fix the problem, but not here. I advise against doing any business with this company.
Update - 1/16/03 - I checked this morning and the process was still "In Processing", called, and was told "Oh, that shipped yesterday". Order status did not change to "shipped" until this afternoon.
Update 1/20/03 -- After much cajoling and calling, emailing and trying to get answers the processor finally arrived -- apparently only because I raised a fuss. Packaging was minimal, the processor was not in it's retail box (so who knows if it's retail or OEM or what?), and no explanations given. At least the equipment works so far. I'll never deal with them again."
"STAY AWAY FROM THESE CON ARTISTS! They use PriceWatch to hook people with their scams. In my case they were offering a low rate of shipping to get their price to be competitive with others. But when you went to their web site, that shipping rate was NOT listed. Several emails to their "customer service" to cancel the order (within an hour of placing it)were ignored and the order was sent out anyways.
I would definitely stay away from this place."
"FRAUD!!!!!!!! They are actively participating in fradulent sales tactics. If you look at their ads on pricewatch.com for CPU/Mobo combos, they take you to a link for the combo which "includes" heatsink and fan. "MB-CPU COMBO PCHIPS 920LR WITH 1.8GHz PENTIUM-4 CPU & FAN". However, after you place your order and if you don't purchase the "Accubyte Value Package" for an additional $29.95, which is automatically checked for you, and which coincedentally includes a CPU heatsink and fan, they will place your order on hold until you contact them. I had a foreign person call and told my wife "Problem with order, call Accubyte" and that's all he would tell her and then he hung up on her. I contacted them 3 times getting different stories as to why my order was on "hold". One was they wanted to make sure I knew that the combo didn't come with a heatsink/fan and tried to sell me one for $29.95. The next time they said they would have to send me a release to sign stating that I was aware of the "uninsured" shipping option I had picked! Of course I was aware of this option because the default option is a more expensive option. Anyway, this is nothing more than fraud and the old "bait and switch" tactic."
"STAY AWAY FROM THIS MERCHANT!
I ordered 2 AMD cpu's and asked for their cheapest shipping. I never heard back from them. Today I decided to check my order status on their website. It said the order was "on hold" and to call them. I called them, and it took the guy 10 minutes to pull up my order, and then he told me that the reason it wasn't shipped was becasue they were "going to email me a release form for uninsured shipping"
Notice, not "We did send you.." but "We are going to send you.." this is *12 DAYS* after I placed my order, and they never called, never emailed.. nothing. As you can see from the other reviews..
STAY AWAY FROM ACCUBYTE! "
"From the look of this rating, those people are right! I should have listened, oh god horrible service, bad business practice...
"
"Although this was some time ago, my experience with this company was absolutely horrendous...
I placed an order for an ECS K7S5A and Athlon 1800 barebones on May 2nd of 2002. I immediately received a confirmation e-mail. The next day they had a representative call me on my home phone to try and get me to buy all kinds of add-ons, after saying no to everything, the representive's manner changed and he hurried off of the phone. After about a day or two I received another e-mail with a UPS tracking number saying that my order had shipped. For the next few days I tried tracking the package and everytime it would come up as "Invalid". I assumed this was a problem with UPS, so I called their customer support and they verified that no tracking number existed.
My next step was to e-mail Accubyte. Their customer support was quick to answer, but all I got was BS. I was told that the order had shipped and that it was taking some time because I had ordered it UPS Ground. So I waited some more (another week) and still no delivery and the tracking number did not work. Finally I e-mailed Accubyte again and they told me the same thing about the order shipping and that I should try the tracking number again tomorrow after they clear things up with UPS.
The next day I tried the tracking number and it worked. The box had been shipped that morning (almost three weeks later). They didn't even give me a complimentary shipping upgrade, I still waited another eight days for the box to arrive. Finally, a month later I received my barebones sytem with in a beat up box with a dead PSU. I didn't even bother to follow up, it isn't worth the headache.
This company is the worst!"
"I bought an ECS motherboard and AMD XP 1800 cpu. after 2 days i recieved a call saying that there was a problem with my order and it was imperrative that i called them back. When i called i was put on hold for 10 minutes, a man answered and told me that it was in my best interest to upgrade from standard shipping to 2 day shipping in order to recieve it by christmas. I told him that i did not need it in time for christmas because im building this computer for a friend that is not in a rush. he asked if i would like to purchase the 3 year warrenty for an additional $30 and i declined. He then said he would leave my order contents as is and send out the order. after another week i check the website and my order is still "On Hold, call for assistance". i called again and they said they would fix it, they have already sent out my order. when i asked them for the tracking number they said they couldn't find it but i would get it in an email soon. I don't think they've sent my package yet."
"Although this order was over a year ago I thought I'd give Accubyte a good rating since it looks like they need it to say the least.
04/09/01 My first online order ever. Ordered a Abit VP6 Dual processor mobo, processors, sound and some other parts by phone since they had the best price on PriceWatch for all of this.
The rep (JA/JA) was very polite and knowlegeble and knew I would need 2 matched stepping Pentium 3's. Most other places do not know what a stepping is including one of the top 10 here at RR. I do not remember the processing and shipping turnaround but I remember it was within 5 days with UPS ground from Chicago to St. Louis which was ok.
The parts were mostly OEM and very well packaged including a very nicely detailed invoice."
"Placed an order and they automatically added a $29 warranty to the shopping cart without asking. After placing it, they left a message with no company name and an incomplete phone number about a "problem" with the order. Upon calling, I found out that the "problem" was they wanted to upsell me to a more expensive product. I don't consider that a reasonable reason to hold an order."
