"Crooked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"I orderded an Afreey 56X CD-ROM from this company because of its excellent review in many places on the web. Accubyte's web site said they had this drive in stock. Instead of sending me the Afreey drive they sent me an Elements CD-ROM drive without asking my permission. The "customer service" agent on the phone was of no help and said it was the same drive. I said it had similar specs but it was not the same drive because it was made by a different company. They didn't seem to think it was improper to say they had one thing and then send another. I don't know if the Elements drive they sent is is bad yet, but to send a different drive without asking is not only bad business, it looks like fraud to me when they say they have something, but then send you something else. I have already e-mailed the Illinois State Attorney General. I will not buy from this company again. As a followup comment, I note that they charged my credit card for the purchase the day after the sale, but BEFORE UPS picked up the order at their warehouse. My experience has been with e-commerce that the company does not usually charge your credit card until the product leaves their warehouse."
"The same day I place my order I get a message on my answering maching asking me to call them back about a problem with my order. (They didn't bother to leave the toll free number in their message.) I get a CSR after a couple of minutes and all he wants is to upsell me a heatsink and fan or upgrade the shipping. I told him that I'd like my order processed just as I submitted it.
Then 6 days later I get the email telling me that I'd have to send them a special form (with copies of my CC & DL) before they would process my order, OR I could just upgrade shipping and that would take of everything.
They basically held my order hostage.
Here's the way it works. If you get the cheapest shipping available. (which is still almost $20.00) they tell you that it will take 11-15 days to arrive. However this shipping method is uninsured and their company policy is that you basically have no recourse with them should your package be damaged or lost or DOA.
Actually, that's not entirley true. You do have 15 days from the invoice date to return defective items. The only problem is that the shipping is supposed to take 11-15 days to arrive. (they actually sat on my order for 6 days (4 business days) before they even tried to process it. There is no way that my item would have arrived in time for me to return a dead item with in the 15 day window.
I got a GREAT price on a barebones system and since they couldn't upsell me on the sink, fan or upgraded shipping, they didn't want to send it to me.
Accubyte is not willing to honor their posted prices. They will do everything they can to make you want to give up on getting your order if you get one of the REALLY cheap deals. They did everything they could to make me want to cancel my order. They won. I cancelled and got better stuff from NewEgg for only a few bucks more. (NewEgg even had my stuff shipped the same day with Fed-Ex tracking numbers)
I feel like Accubyte lied to me at every turn. They certainly did not care about me or anything I had to say to them. I can't belive that a place like this is still in business! If you have had a similar problem, please contact the Illinois state attorney general, Better Business Bureau and the FTC. Let's get these guys off the internet.
Lousy service! Overall a very shadey operation. Do yourself a favor and spend an extra $20 and get your computer stuff from a reputable dealer. It's really NOT worth the headache! "
"My part was backorded...
2 weeks after the initial order, they had still failed to advise me of this fact. "
"A copy of a letter I sent to Accubyte. I should also add that on each occassion they tried to upsell me on warranties, retail products, etc. such that they could increase the processing fee (see below). Copies were also sent to specific agencies as indicated.
--------------------------
My name is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and I apologize but I do not have my order number in front of me. My billing address is xxxxxxxxxxxxx.
I am writing this email to tell you that I am completely and utterly flabbergasted by the rude and incompetent service I have been receiving from your company. I have done everything in my power to make this order process work to no avail. Finally, in disgust, I tried to speak to someone "in charge" on the phone and after a ten minute run-around, your phone service representative hung up on me. Clearly service isn't your first priority.
Your web page gives specific information on how orders shipped to non-billing addresses are done. I followed each and every step to the letter and yet the order could still not be processed. Accubyte representatives called me on four separate occassions to inform me that they could not ship my items because of lack of verification and I reverified all my personal information with them each time. On each occassion I also called my credit card company and verified the alternative address information with no problems in less than 3 minutes. I find it increduable that you cannot seem to do the same.
On the final call with your service rep, he informed me that since they were unable to process my order, the order would be cancelled and a 5% processing fee was going to be charged to my credit card. As logic would dictate, if you can process my card for a 5% fee then you can surely process it for the items I purchased and verify the alternate address. The only explanation I can determine from this is: a) no one ever called to verify my alternate address on the card (also verified since my credit card company said no inquiries on my account had been made in the past 72 hours), b) you had no intention of filling my order because of an alternative address, and c) that Accubyte is running a 5% processing fee scam. Since my order tabulated to ~$500, that fee would amount to ~$25 fee you are charging me for not doing anything or attempting to do anything.
I currently build custom computers on site for specific customer needs and order from many companies via the internet. Currently in my shop I have items from Royal Computers, NewEgg, Microtech, Technology Bazar, BzBoys, PC Supply Source, HP, etc. all of which were received without inconvenience and with very friendly service. This was my first ordering attempt with you and it will surely be my last. I am also likewise informing the shop supervisor and the purchasing department to put you on the "troublesome" vendor list here to discourage any future purchases with you.
Finally, I have pre-empted any charges on my mastercard by you as a disputed vendor/purchase. This is something I honestly thought I would never have to do. I am also forwarding a copy of this email, along with a chronology of events to the Missouri States Attorney General, the Missouri Better Business Bureau, and to the university Chancellor for documentation.

"Purchase went well. Bought a athlon xp 1600+ barebones system with pc chips motherboard, case and pwrsupp. Took about 2 weeks to arrive after they called and said they ran out of oem processors, upgraded me to a retail boxed processor for around 20$ I think it was (better heatsink). Computer has been running fine with zero problems since it arrived."
"I placed an order last Saturday and refer them to honour the pricing they post in pricewatch.com. However, when I called in again to make sure the order goes through smoothly, they said they can't honour the pricing and go ahead cancel the order. Thanks for the business. I don't see any reason of doing business if you can't even make up the mind what product to sell and the pricing. "
"Bought a bare bones from them, arrived exactly as described no surpises and nothing missed. System worked perfectly on first boot. Invoice showed signs that they had taken the time to check it before shipping."
"I ordered a barebone (AthlonXp 1800+, ECS K7S5A) and it took a while to get it delivered but it was exactly on time.
I had a few problems with it and tech support was very kind with me and gave a very professional answer. I will buy from them again, if I find another good price like that"
"I ordered a Pentium III 933 MHz secc2 slot 1 processor and was sent an fcpga processor instead. When I called customer support they acted like the fcpga was the processor I ordered. Fortunately I printed the page when I ordered the slot 1 processor. I was told to send the fcpga back and they would then send me the slot 1 and reimburse me for the shipping because it was their mistake, which they never did. Every time I called to inquire about the status of my order I was lied to, ie., when they received the return and when the slot 1 would be shipped. I finally received the correct processor but am out the return shipping charge. I sent a copy of the cost of shipping as requested per customer support with the return. I would also like to add that they are in a hurry to tell you anything then hang up, especially after they have collected your money. I consider Accubyte to be very unethical resellers. Worst internet transaction I have ever had."
"I ordered a box, processor and motherboard. They called because of a problem with my order. I tried to call them back an entire day and the phone is ALWAYS busy. I emailed and Juan called me back. He said my order was not available and delayed. But if I bought the warranty, I would get it shipped immediately. I told him that sounded like extortion and I wanted to speak to his superior or manager. He wouldn't give me any names, direct lines that are answered or email addresses. I had to call the 800 number that is never answered or email to sales@accubyte. So I did email to sales@ and canceled my order. Despite the cancellation and reported delayed shipment, Accubyte charged my credit card anyway. I am emailing every day requesting a credit but I get no response now. And the phone is still busy. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!"
"Accubyte is a simply a horrible company to do business with. I paid 50 extra dollars to have my order, (a motherboard/cpu combo and 1 stick of ram), shipped via 2 day Air Express. At the end of my expected arrival date nothing showed up. I contacted Accubyte the next day to ask what happened to my order. They informed me that they still had not sent out my order, and that it could take up to 72 hours for my order to be shipped and THEN I could start counting the days. Having worked as an account manager for a major parts distributor myself, I knew that this was not the way things worked at all. I told that to the person I was speaking to, and that person promptly hung up on me... *click* Needless to say I called back and cancelled my order all together. "
"Super cheap good quality hardware. If you don't mind waiting a bit for the shipping this is the place for you. I just recieved my amd barebones system today and it is in perfect working order. Just remember that when you are reading these posts most people don't write to say that they are satisfied with the service."
"Ok i thought i would enjoy this site cause of its low prices so first i order a p4 off the site they call me 5 days later and tell me there out of stock and they will not be ordering any more so i cancle my p4 order with them then i found a kick ass asus mother board for realy cheap so i order it from then i get second day shippin on it from them that is on the 27th so then on the first it arives im like ok ups(in a fedex box) tok to long so i open it up and its the wrong mother board it doesnt even fit my chipset so i send them an email since its past thier buisness hours then monday morning i go to call them and all 6 numbers are disconected so i then report them to the bbb"
"SPECTACULAR!!! I ordered a P4 barebones system for much cheaper than i saw elsewhere. Even though it said 7-10 business days just to test and then ship (+5 days shipping), i RECEIVED the system in 5 days total!! WOW!
Everything runs great, and customer service was very friendly.
Will buy from them again"
