Ace Photo & Digital won out; some other sites had better prices on the 3100 itself, but when I calculated the cost and quality of the accessories, Ace was clearly the winner. Also, needed a fast turnaround, as it was for a graduation gift. Ordered on Sunday, rec'd it on Thurs. All is well."

"I have divided opinions about this merchant.

Upon my first order attempt everything was fine and I got a confirmation of my order to print and I thought my camera (Minolta Dimage Xi) was on its way. When checking my email a few days later I had an email from Acephotodigital requesting me to provide copies of my driver's license and front and back of my visa card used for the purchase. This is a routine I've only had to go through once before from years of online shopping and I found it annoying since most other merchants simply confirm with my bank that everything is ok.

After supplying this information I got the camera after a while but my package included something I hadn't ordered, an extra battery. First I thought it was included with the camera but then I saw I had been charged for it, which I, needless to say, definitely do not appreciate. This isn't that big of a deal though since it only cost $30 and might come in handy sometime but I dont like being charged for something I haven't ordered.

On the positive side I found this merchant to offer the best available price on the camera from what I gathered from different shopping portals.

"I purchased the Canon EOS 10D from them for $1499. It was certainly the lowest price on the net for that camera. I called Max at extension 827 who told me they had it in stock and were able to ship it same day (they did). He asked "Do you need " regarding various accessories and didn't push me purchasing the most expensive accessories or even every last accessory as dbuys.com did with my video camera. I was already going to purchase the accessories so it wasn't an intrusion. It was no more a sales pitch than Best Buy or Wolf Camera. The camera arrived 2 days later, new, NOT gray market, with accessories. I had to return a firewire card reader which took 2 emails (quick replies) and had to reorder a different compactflash card as the one I ordered was apparently backordered. I was surprised they had the camera but not the 1GB 32x compactflash which I got at the local Wolf Camera. My only real complaint is the shipping and handling. $169.99 for 2nd Day UPS on a 10 pound package. UPS.com estimated around $30. I know they have to make their money up somewhere so this must be part of it and my shipment certainly needed insurance. Anyway, I have to think they are getting me on shipping. UPS Ground is considerably less expensive. Overall I would rank them highly and would use them again, especially on high ticket items.

Addendum: After posting this review, the company refunded me $70 on shipping."
